Re: “A Broke Student’s Guide

Way to go TW. Advise people how to rip off local businesses so that they have more drinking money.

Nicholas pretty much sounds like a loser. Thief, liar, drunk.
I don't think I'd want his blood, either.

Re: “Best Two out of Three

Probably Matt Kopec will get my only vote in the primary. I don't know much about him, but the other two have taken public positions that I cannot, in good conscience, vote for.

I am an Independent who normally votes in the Republican Primary to try and keep the real crazies from being elected, but am voting Democratic this time around because I would like to see Joel Feinman knock off Barbara LaWall, who has been there far too long and thinks she owns the office.

Friese and Hannley got my vote. We need more women in elected positions, especially among that crowd on West Washington Street.

Re: “Is Prop 205 Right for Arizona?

Carpet Baggers is correct. The political lines have blurred on this issue, at least at the Federal level. The Republican Congress has defunded the DEA on this issue, and in the Congressional Budget Resolution of Dec 2014, told Federal Agencies to leave state legal businesses alone if they were abiding by state law.

Re: “A Broke Student’s Guide

From their website Kyle:

– Due to declines in gas prices and finance charges, the annual cost to own and operate a vehicle has fallen to $8,698, a nearly 2 percent drop from last year, according to AAA’s 2015 Your Driving Costs study. This research examines the cost of fuel, maintenance, tires, insurance, license and registration fees, taxes, depreciation and finance charges associated with driving a typical sedan 15,000 miles annually. In the United States, a driver can expect to spend 58 cents for each mile driven, nearly $725 per month, to cover the fixed and variable costs associated with owning and operating a car in 2015.

That assumes that you bought a brand new car, financed it at some interest rate. Then you suffered the immediate depreciation year after year.

I don't think this is you and me. I don't know anybody that bought a new car since Obama got elected.

Re: “A Broke Student’s Guide

They must have, Starving Artist, if the American Automobile Association is saying it. And my bad, it's actually been revised down to $8,698 per year (2015) to own and operate a mid-sized sedan. http://newsroom.aaa.com/2015/04/annual-cos…

Re: “The Skinny

Why link McCain to Trump, he should be defeated easy if the voters seen what he stands for. NOTHING. He continues to jab Obama, because McCain and Graham think they are the only ones that know the military and how it should be run. Neither give G. Bush any good information on his 2 wars. Both give America a BAD name and it continues. Yes, the Conservatives never mention those wars, except to blast Obama for them. Yes GOP takes the credit for the killing of thousand of our troops and the injuries. Millions of citizens in those counties killed by GOP actions. Naw, GOP has forgotten about those. Now we have old, senile, mentally ill Trump controlling the GOP party. That is going so well. The GOP must be so proud, first they sponsored the Tea Party, now Donald Trump.

Re: “Danehy

Tucson voters need to know what Martha McSally actually stands for. Supporting Donald Trump and his radical views. has Martha ever told the voters how she had voted? NO. She voted to defund all Military bands and the choirs. Most American enjoy them. But McSally won and they will no longer be apart of the great American life. Martha ads talks about here family, her military life. Nothing is said what she truly stand for. OH yeah, more border protection. All the GOP stand for that. They have for decades. But its been all talk and not action from The GOP. Tucson, AZ and America needs a congress that stands for something. The past five years its been doing nothing under right wing conservatives. NOTHING for America.

Re: “Is Prop 205 Right for Arizona?

politically speaking; Does anyone understand that it is this republican congress that is constantly reining on the Obama justice department and the DEA? for prosecuting states that have medical marijuana.

They have denied monies for investigation to the DEA. This congress has spearheaded just how monies will be used in states with medical marijuana laws passed. The federal court in CA just threw out many cases brought before the court this week. Following the rules of congress the cases were not in conflict with California law.

In this day and age the political paintbrush is running very thin. It is taking way to many coats to cover up the stains and patches. I think we need a good coat of KILZ and perhaps a new color.

Re: “Greg Miller Out At the State Board of Education

Sorry Debra. Those appointments, by law, have to go to a public school superintendent and to a public school teacher. As they are, they are good appointments to designated seats. Roger Jacks was a good low key, knowledgable superintendent from outside Phonix and Tucson, for once. Calvin is a good man. We'll see in the at large seats. Maybe another Supreme Court packing type appointment, like two more Clint Bolicks.

Sorry no. I oppose the liberalism of the progressive movement. The term progress has been coopted by leftist democrats.

Re: “My Stay at the No-Tel Motel

I moved to Tucson from San Diego almost a year ago. I live off Oracle in the Casas Adobes area, so on our way to Temple, which is on Country Club, we passed the No Tell. Just by reading the sign it sounded like you could catch a disease from staying there. Guess I was right.

It has to happen this way, tax and regulate means tax and regulate....Arizona is not ready for full free like tomato approach, to not support it would be politically naive.

Thanks, Carpet Baggers, you brought up some interesting points that I'd like to investigate further. It's beginning to seem like an ugly rock-vs.-hard-place situation for ordinary Arizona citizens who are tired of prohibition.
