Re: “The Border Battle

Please , Grijalva Please.. Compromise is now a term politicans use to convince the public that they are attempting to look like they are doing something...... For those of us that have lived in Tucson for 40 years or more , Natives of Tucson, know that Grijalva should be President of Mexico instead of a U.S. congressman.. Most of his district looks like sonora mex. and functions similar to nogalas sonora mex.. His district has always had the highest crime rate in pima county. Not much has changed for the better since Raul "took" over this district a long time ago.. The number of Illegal immigants from mexico has increased in his district since his take over however... Almost evey time Raul opens his mouth and some sort of word combination comes out,,its got some thing to do with non citizens and in some way bad mouthing the legal U.S. citizen....

Re: “AZ Legislature: Budget Showdown Set for Thursday

I hope the Republican spat results in the killing of the bill destroying Clean Elections. The people of the state established Clean Elections for a reason and the legislature, and I don't care which party is behind it, should be keeping their hands off of it.

I want my candidates being elected, and going into office, beholden to no special interest who may have bankrolled their campaign. Let's continue being a model of public financing of elections for this nation.

Re: “Amy's Baking Company Says 'We Were Hacked!' Following Yesterday's Scorched Earth Campaign

ADDITIONALLY -- IF YOU REVIEW the photos on their Facebook page, NEARLY ALL food photograph (listed as shot in-house) were taken/stolen from other pages throughout the internet -- AND CLAIMED AS THEIR FOOD. Again, CLEARLY deceptive, if not Fraudulent.

Re: “Amy's Baking Company Says 'We Were Hacked!' Following Yesterday's Scorched Earth Campaign

To the assignment editor:
It appears that the level of deception, if not outright fraud, and clearly illegal activities perpetrated by the owners of "Amy's Baking Company" is remarkable:
1: Selling store-bought items as "home made" (see "Kitchen Nightmares" -- AND PBS "Check Please" interview where she claims her food to be fresh, house made, locally sourced and organic).
2: Customers report that she claims to have been trained in Culinary Arts in France (again, see PBS "Check Please").
3: It has now been revealed that much, if now all, of their desserts are likewise purchased out of house -- which would suggest that even their company name is fraudulent.
4: While they may pay slightly more in their employee hourly rate than what is legally allowed, AZ Labor Laws CLEARLY state that ALL TIPS are the property of the server WITHOUT restriction of the management or ownership. Their publicly admitted policy of corporate theft (stealing the property of their servers) is clearly illegal.
It would be interesting to see the ownership of this organization publicly called-out (by the press) and questioned regarding these practices. It is my hope that the service staff -- past and present -- will file a class action suit to seek the recovery of illegally take tips. And that the AZ Attorney General's office review these practices for possible criminal action. And should their claims that their Facebook and Twitter accounts were hacked prove to be false, criminal charges should likewise be pursued.

Re: “Soggy, Sweet and Slow

The only reason this place still exists is the fact that there are so few restaurants at all in this area of West Tucson. Service is marginal, owner could care less, portions small. Just nothing at all about tis place to recommend!

Re: “Popcorn Paradise

I am moving to Tucson in a couple weeks and I am so pleased to know this establishment exists and is healthy. I experienced a similar store in my former location: locally owned, comprehensive inventory, friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Why is this an anomaly? This is a testament to the quality of life in Tucson. Cheers.

Re: “The Border Battle

Only my opinion, feel free to call me what you wish. I have several family members who are naturalized citizens and they did it the legal way. That said, my concern is the great degree of naiveté demonstrated by the Gang of Eight. Why do they believe a group of people who have violated there native country's laws and then our laws to illegally emigrate, work without proper documentation, steal or falsify identification, steal goods and services intended for legal, needy citizens will suddenly decide to follow the law? I have a hard time believing even one fourth of those here illegally will voluntarily pay a fine and back taxes much less register with the government, and then learn English and become law abiding citizens. Am I being too cynical? Or just realistic?

Re: “Seriously, People, Tell Domestic Harmony to Go F—k Itself

Jana, are you serious? You don't understand?
OK, will lay it out plainly, so those with limited civilized natures will understand the point.
Point is EVERYTHING one does, when interacting with strangers, affects the image one
creates of one's culture and themselves in the eyes of those strangers. If you are bent on
creating an image of yourself and your culture as buffoons, then by all means utilize any
stupid slang in your limited vocabulary. If, on the other hand, you wish to project an image
of civility, then use proper language when out in the field.
Jana, I don't get it that you don't get it !!! Sorry, but do want the best for you, just don't know
how to get the point across so you'll understand the point of keeping cuss words to a minimum.
It's like: "the obvious is obscure in your culture"

Re: “Danehy

The history of indian gaming is a lot more complicated than you make it. States want to regulate the casinos for good reasons, too. Indian casinos are just as prone to organized crime and corruption as any other gaming establishment. Corruption is the biggest problem. Just as Jack Abramoff and his lobbyist cronies. Yes, we committed genocide against native americans, and unfortunately, they lost the war and were placed in interior exile on reservations. Letting them now build casinos wherever they want, whenever they want with no state or local oversight at all is not in any way justice for past treatment. There are now very good studies that show strong connections between casinos and local crime rates. Just getting basic data on this very serious subject is tough because indian casinos do not have to report anything to the government. So, while you sip your diet soda on the gaming floor, thank your god that it isn't in your backyard.

Re: “The Border Battle

Actually, the environmental hazards stem from allowing all these illegal aliens into the country in the first place. Do something positive for American and encourage them to self deport.

Re: “Gargulinski

Did the writer bother to read any of the official records in this case? Cos this story doesn't seem to match. Oh, I guess everybody was lying.

What about "Sam" calling 911, not to report the crash, but to lie and say his Jeep was stolen? Did she ask about that? Did she ask about why he sped up and slowed down and sped up when the victim was chasing the Jeep? Did she ask why all official records say it was the victim and "Sam" who were arguing and what they were arguing about?

Taking the word of the person who feels so very wronged in this case is ... wrong. As is blaming everyone else for one's wrongful actions. I have no stake in this case, but it clearly sounds as if the writer has a personal stake in rewriting the criminal history of a stupid person who wants to blame everyone but himself. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

Re: “A Passed-Out-Drunk ASU Student Was Left At a Hospital With a Wheelchair and A Note

Wait just a minute!!!!! I'm sure no one forced this immature a-hole to drink that much! What about HIS charges for MIC?!?! What about taking responsibility for one's actions?? He is the 'smart guy' who decided to drink that much. I mean, cheers (pun intended) to his friends for at least realizing that their buddy needed medical care, but, really? If you are old enough to be out of mommy and daddy's care and going to college like a big boy, you should be old enough to realize that there are consequences, for crying out loud!

That mistake evidently cost the newscast producer his job... not the editor who cut the sound bite.

Oh damn, I haven't raised my kids right. I HATE IT when that happens.

This is even more stressful than that whole Pinterest thing and I don't even know what the fuck that is.

What's your point?

Good thing he's male. If he had been female there would have been a rape and some good old fashioned victim-blaming for getting too drunk. Instead, he gets taken to a hospital. He should consider himself lucky.
