Re: “Donald Trump Is Off To Mexico!

I agree with Chelsea Handler. If the wall is gonna be built, the perfect time to do it is once Trump is in Mexico.

How oblivious can Trump be? This is about the equivalent of Al Sharpton deciding it's a good idea to attend a Klan meeting.

Powers won because she out campaigned her opponent and unfortunately for you she is also right on the issues. She should coast to an easy win in November. I know she will not take it for granted though and all continue to reach voters and let them know her plans in the legislature since we will finally be in the majority again.

Re: “Congress: Heinz Up Over Steele in CD2 Dems, Babeu Up Over Field in CD1 GOP Primary

Anti Trump wave? Keep it up and you won't be allowed to attend his victory party on election night. Hillary support is evaporating as her honesty, judgement and character become a bigger issue. She does not have any more economic sense than Obama.Emails continue to dog her and Uma and Anthony have drug her down. To say nothing of Bill wanting to give 10,000 Syrian Muslims free homes in Detroit.

Trump just secured Michigan.

LD9 has been infiltrated. It has always been a bastion of sanity for Pima County, whether we sent Republicans or Democrats to Phoenix. How did Pamela Powers Hannley manage to get over 30% of the vote in this District? Have we gone totally insane?

What a shame. Closen was the better candidate. The job is too mundane for Steve. He will become bored quickly.

Re: “McCain vs. Kirkpatrick: It's On Like Donkey Kong!

This Labor Day candidates will be working what’s left of the unions to mine votes. Unions? The folks who built the now-shrunk middle class, who were responsible for redistributing wealth from the few to the many, union or not. However flawed, unions gave working people a way to counter the raw greed of crony capitalism.

Both major candidates have an anti-union history. The Clintons cost American workers nearly a million jobs with NAFTA and refused to level the playing field when they could. Trump is openly anti-union and three-quarters of the Trump brand products are made in China, Bangladesh, etc!

The only pro-union presidential candidate is Dr. Jill Stein and the Green Party who, along with the Libertarian candidate, are not even allowed into the presidential debates. Their Green New Deal would put Americans back to work in good jobs that might help save the planet. Hillary and The Donald don’t want Jill in the debates – because they would come out looking like the bankrupts they are. Let Jill in!

"Corrupt Media" is a term of art to describing journalist from the other side, or in the case of some more recent movements, any side. (Six per cent of Americans trust what they see in the news.)

I see that The Weekly has banned its editor from proofreading the headline. What is "Corrupt Meda"?

Why would the corrupt media try to attend a victory party when they worked to destroy her?

Re: “TUSD Enrollment, 2000 to 2016, Part 2

Supporting Public Ed Means Supporting Local Reform

Its not just the Special Masters report that suggests more regulation can't heal TUSD. Look at the nationwide data for struggling schools. These are schools that have a great deal of oversite by state Departments of Education. Result: after five years of oversite, 75% of all these schools are worse.

Regulation is a dead end. I did a thirty year policy and literature review to enlighten my self as to what we could do better in Arizona. It was an intellectual desert waste land.

School choice is the only policy tool left and the evidence is that it is working in Arizona. Not just working but working spectacularly.

This article is spot on! Everything Alafia serves is fantastic. It's food you think about for a long time after. The memory will cross your mind unexpectedly throughout the next month, calling you back.

Re: “Zona Politics: Your Primary Election Round-Up!

MaYBE McSally would serve us better being a pilot and not a politician. But I know the money/pension is good. So many prefer the politician stepping stone. McSally has not been honest with her time in Congress, fails to tell the people her full voting background. And with John McCain, he tells in an ad how he wants to create more jobs. John, just retire at age 80 and give a young politician a chance at the Senate. You have served you state and nation for many decades, it time to retired with many pensions you draw upon. Donald Trump seems to be drawing many Republican Politicians to him in AZ. It doesn't surprise me. It as state full of radical and extreme conservatives, that voters must reject to survive.

Re: “The Skinny

From my reading seat this is a long, sad list of strange, thought disordered behaviors. Anyone county supervisor who, with serious intent, demands "round-the-clock patrols" from county employees is abusing the office. And anyone who, with serious intent, calls 911 and says that "my life is in danger" unless they remove internet content is more than a little unbalanced mentally.

Re: “The Skinny

The fake 911 call doesn't surprise me. Sorry, but this is kind of a thing in Tucson. I witnessed a fair amount of 911 abuse by people who just wanted the cops to come in and break up a nonviolent verbal dispute, or intimidate someone who disagreed with them, or resolve a customer service débâcle. There are a lot of people in the Old Pueblo who don't get that 911 is supposed to be reserved for life-threatening emergencies. I haven't seen this as much on the East Coast.

Also, you'd think that there would be a fair number of people who would cheer on Miller's war on Raytheon, considering how politically divided the city can be. I remember how vigorously the Tucson chapter of Food Not Bombs campaigned against the company ten years ago or so. I'm surprised the Weekly chose not to look into this part of the issue.

Re: “Legalization Props

I'm not surprised that teen marijuana use in Colorado has stagnated or declined since legalization took place. For many teenagers, doing something that is wholeheartedly approved of by the law and/or your parents can be boring as hell.
