Re: “The New Old School

Mama Louisa's has a great menu and food quality is awesome. Their free speech should not be hindered because of one person's bias. Live and let live. I thought we had gotten pasta this. It is bolognese.

Support the local restaurants! They are your neighbors.

Re: “Danehy

Exactly! look at all those that attended their wedding, long after she became a citizen.

After becoming engaged in 2004, Donald and Melania were married in an Anglican service on January 22, 2005, at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida, followed by a reception in the ballroom at Donald's Mar-a-Lago estate.[41][42]
The event was attended by celebrities such as Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, Rudy Giuliani, Heidi Klum, Star Jones, P. Diddy, Shaquille O'Neal, Barbara Walters, Conrad Black, Regis Philbin, Simon Cowell, Kelly Ripa, then-Senator Hillary Clinton, and former president Bill Clinton.[42][43] At the reception, Billy Joel serenaded the crowd with "Just the Way You Are" and supplied new lyrics about Donald to the tune of "The Lady Is a Tramp".[42] The Trumps' wedding ceremony and reception were widely covered by the media.[38] Melania wore a $200,000 dress made by John Galliano of the house of Christian Dior. wikipedia

She is legitimate. get off her back.

Re: “Pre-rolled Legislation

So some members of our legislature are wanting to make it harder for the citizen to override political incompetence. Other members (Thorpe?) want to hobble student voters. This is a shameful way to govern. I personally wouldn't vote democrat, but my republican vote should not be considered guaranteed...

Re: “The Skinny

"Even before President-Elect Donald Trump disgracefully laid into civil-rights hero and Congressman John Lewis after Lewis said Trump was not a legitimate president"

Think through those actions from start to finish. Are you really that blindly partisan and hateful?

You forgot that the civil rights hero also lied. He has a history of doing this. He would not attend Bush 2000 Inauguration. So now he has done it again. Then he tells us that he believes in forgiveness. But fails to forgive.

Major Owens is a supporter.

Re: “The Skinny

I just left another thread where we were lectured that Trump changed his views and that made him illegitimate. Which is it?

TW-the height of cynicism.

@Open Minded and Liberal 2017:

1) Donald Trump's wife became an American citizen in 2006.

2) Donald Trump's wife's first name is Melania.

Re: “The New Old School

Me and my family have been going to mama's for years. It's nice to see Michael cater to both the long time guest and the new generation of food eaters that we are starting to see. As for one previous comment, DMAFB brings in a ton of business not only for his restaurant, but the entire community of Tucson. If you feel that his political preference is a reason to not dine at one of Tucson's longest standing restaurants, then perhaps your money is best spent somewhere else that doesn't support the community. I for one will continue to support local business in this city, regardless of political preference. Keep doing what you do Michael Elefante!!

Re: “Danehy

Doug,

And yet you are OK with President Trump switching his stance on abortion to whatever flavor of the month will get him the most attention? He has been pro-choice, pro-life, ambivalent, etc. Something tells me his current pro-life stance isn't exactly set in stone.

What a weak argument.

For you, as a Christian, this is a good opportunity for self reflection not rationalization. You voted for one of the least Christian candidates, in actions and words, that this county has ever seen. You can't correct your mistake but you can admit it, ask for forgiveness and go out into the world to do some good deeds to take your soul in a more Christian direction.

Maybe stepping up to the place and donating time, money or space in your home to one of the thousands of children in the state of Arizona foster care system that need a home would be a great step. Pima County has the highest percentage of children in the system without a bed or foster home to sleep at. Step up and help! Be a real Christian, not just one in name!

And Wise-Guy makes the case that Tucson is such an open and accepting community full of wonderful people. Not.

Don't let hatred consume the rest of you. Go and eat there and enjoy the food in our free and protected country.

Doesn't Mama Louisa's sit outside the maingate of DM? McSally supported the Air Force, the military, and defense of our country by continuing the A 10 program. Not such a wise guy after all?

Re: “Danehy

Tom, I don't know why you have so much antipathy for the Christian right, but your conclusion that we didn't want to vote for a woman is wrong. I don't hate Secretary Clinton, nor do I believe all the ridiculous conspiracy driven tripe that is said about her and Bill. She made her position clear on abortion and wouldn't even give an inch on late term abortions. As the scientific evidence continues to prove that it isn't a blob of flesh in the womb it is a baby.

Re: “Danehy

I have to be honest. Just like many of the others that do not support a Trump Presidency, I am most upset by the fact that the first lady is not an American born citizen. After President Obama was forced to show his original birth certificate, Why Donald Trump's wife, Melodia, is allowed to waltz into our country as the first lady, is simply not fair. America is for Americans. We need to continue to speak out about this injustice and I will join Congressman Grijalva and John Lewis in making this known. She is illegitimate and he knows it.

Read the &!?* rules.

Re: “The Battle for a Solar Arizona

I solved the problem of dealing with utility company shenanigans by going off the grid entirely. With the ACC in the pocket of the utility companies and the constant shifting-sands of fees and regulations on photovoltaic owners, I just didn't want to get caught in that trap. I know that may not be possible for many homeowners to go off-grid due to their home's energy consumption demands, but in general solar is the way to go. The Industrial Age is over; the Information Age has begun.

Re: “Dear Mr. President

President Trump,

Look from the White House to the west upon the row after row of white markers across the Potomac in Arlington Cemetery. Freedom is not free. It cannot be bought with silver and gold, nor is it a commodity to be traded. What you say and do matters. Will it honor those who have paid the ultimate price or will it make their sacrifice in vain. The choice is yours, choose wisely.

Re: “The New Old School

Just a reminder to those who care about these things...Elephante did advertising in support of Martha McSally. I for one don't do business with known republicans and Mama Louisa's won't see another penny from me. There are many other fine Italian restaurants to dine at in this town.

Re: “Danehy

Tom let's do this. Let the facts prove the hypothesis. Let's print letters of support for the Affordable Care Act from a sample segment of the population.

To qualify they....

1. Must have had pre existing condition that kept them from healthcare in the past.

2. They were given subsidies to pay the premium they could not afford.

3. They had a medical emergency and used their government subsidised healthcare.

4. They had the $10,000 deductible available and paid it, keeping them from bankruptcy.

5. They have another $10,000 on hand in anticipation of using the ACA plan again in the next five years.

This would be a brilliant piece of journalism that would prove to the American people just how effective and affordable the ACA was and is. Maybe that will shut up all the naysayers.
