Sgsmith, very well said.
I was in a dorm situation when I was in my late teens. Granted it was military and more strict, but there was your fair share of underage drinking etc. (which I think should be on the table for those potentially risking their lives for their government, but that's another story...). Marijuana? Never...but it was a different time and place. Regardless, I had a lot of fun but respected myself and my place and never risked damaging it nor getting in trouble.
If I'd had the opportunity to attend a school like the UofA, I would not have treated it as carelessly as so many college students today do. Be mindful of your situation and good fortune and have some self-respect.
Probably Matt Kopec will get my only vote in the primary. I don't know much about him, but the other two have taken public positions that I cannot, in good conscience, vote for.
I am an Independent who normally votes in the Republican Primary to try and keep the real crazies from being elected, but am voting Democratic this time around because I would like to see Joel Feinman knock off Barbara LaWall, who has been there far too long and thinks she owns the office.
Friese and Hannley got my vote. We need more women in elected positions, especially among that crowd on West Washington Street.
Sorry no. I oppose the liberalism of the progressive movement. The term progress has been coopted by leftist democrats.
Debbi L - #VoteProgressive. Check out my ideas on my website Powers For The People dot net. My platform is much different from the privately funded candidates. Also, since I have been a blogger for 10 years, it is easy for people to find my opinions on just about everything.
Thanks, Nick, for a fair and balanced report of our race.
How about acting like an adult; although, current science says college-age students are not in fact fully-functional adults, as demonstrated by their risk-taking and lack of critical thinking behaviors and failure to understand the consequences of their actions.
Quit pissing away your parent’s money and leave the cliché drug and alcohol abuse to the Hollywood screen writers who don’t give a sh@t about your future.
Instead of sucking up to your RA to hopefully get away with something, don’t screw up in the first place, unless you really like sucking up to people, in which case, you should change your major to business or political science.
Lastly, hiding from the police and pretending to be asleep is the stupidest thing you can do. I watched two idiots try this tactic in the student apartment building across from me some years ago and the police did give up – until the next day, when they went to the student’s classrooms, pulled them out in handcuffs and they were last seen being moved out by their parents in the middle of the night.
Aren't there any Independents running? I want a choice, between the two corrupt party systems.
Re: "the candidates tend to align on matters of policy—such as...addressing the gender wage gap...."
See why they will waste their time:

The idea that this business "needs" a 100 foot high sign is nonsense. It doesn't have to be seen from Nogales, or Yuma, just to be seen on the nearest major street, which would call for a "not more than" 40 foot integrated, "architectural feature". It should not have been approved. Sign companies are famous for the idea that bigger, taller, and wider signs are essential to economic development. They are not.
In an interview on our local public radio station she stated that she is a better candidate than Mr. Heinz because she is a woman. Maybe Mr. Heinz should counter that he is a better candidate because of his sexuality :-)
i voted for her in the primary early ballot
It's worse than delusional, it's criminal. The border is wide open and funneling in terrorists and healthcare has almost been destroyed. It is an open border socialist ploy.
Everything at the border is pretty good?
Wow, delusional candidate to say the least. I suppose he's following typical democrat values. I just cant understand how they can lie? But, like criminals, lying is believing stronger in oneself more so than anything, as, body language must accompany the fib. Criminals are professionals, along with politicians. Doctors or not. I would suggest he stick to surgery. Otherwise, why dont he just say he wants to support the Obama policies. I am good with that. At least that is 'honesty".
That is what this state/nation needs and is looking for. "Non establishment" people. No go along to get alonger's!
Isn't it refreshing to have two intelligent people, whose 'exactly the same' responses to pertinent questions are delivered spontaneously, not as memorized quotations from a playbook written by a puppeteer in Kansas or D.C.? Either Heinz or Steele would be a far superior representative for the people of CD 2 than 'wind me up and I'll say the same thing again.... and again.... and..............' McSally.
This interview read exactly the same as the interview with her opponent in the primary race, Mr. Heinz. Seriously, no differences. All canned, no tuna. :-/
What would the funding of the three major party candidates for CD2 look like if only real persons -- no corporations -- who live and are entitled to vote in the district were allowed to contribute their own funds to the campaign of their choice? Scroll through candidates' campaign finance reports and you'll get the picture. McSally isn't a fund-raising phenomenon; she's the beneficiary of the Republican queen makers who want desperately to hang on to the seat she won by 161 votes largely due to a sub-par campaign on behalf of Ron Barber. And have a look at the number of out of district, out of state contributors to Matt Heinz' campaign whose names are followed by 'M.D.' Victoria Steele is the locally supported, locally based -- nearly 30 years residence and contributions to our community -- candidate. If you're happy with the way you're served by McSally, by all means support her come November. If you see her as a sub-par successor to Gabby Giffords, Jim Kolbe and the Udalls, then vote for Victoria Steele in the primary and then again against Martha in November.
Would that erode men's "rights"? Did you mean abortion? Hillary wants to be able to take their life right up until delivery.
Multiple times in past months, she has admitted a child — “hours before birth” — has no Constitutional rights.
I'm supporting Steele because we need many more women in Congress... ones who uphold and advance women's rights
Can you imagine seeing a headline that syas, "Trump tells us why he is the rightr candidate to challenge Hillary?"
What a beautiful fluff piece.
Is it an endorsement?
