Re: “Presta Coffee: Precision Roasting

TWers... Sorry but this is not about food and I really look forward to your local FOOD articles although I'm sure you are well and truly chuffed to do something OTHER than food. Beer... not food, snacky stuff with grass in it... not food, libations of any sort no matter how nutritious... not food. Okay? Thanks, Foodie

Re: “The Skinny

The leeches -- run spellcheck, What, Again -- come here and work and make it possible for all of us who've been here a little longer to obtain a whole lot of goods and services more cheaply than if they did not work as long, hard and cheaply as they do.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Will 2015 be remembered as the year that solar and batteries became a reasonably priced alternative to reliance on the grid? The cost of solar has come down so much that, when combined with energy efficiency, energy management (like switching power consumption to hours with solar gain) and batteries, it is now feasible for this off-grid energy to cost in the range of utility costs. By 2020, it will be cheaper to go off grid than to stay on it.
This is largely because most utilities are not endorsing the new paradigm but are fighting it.
It is only financially good for them to fight solar in the short term. In the long run, they will suffer for it, and may well go out of business as the new paradigm overwhelms their opposition.

Re: “Ducey: Allow Gays To Adopt Kids in AZ

I think I qualify as a liberal and I've thanked the governor for his support for adoption just as I've challenged his truly inexcusable budget.

Re: “SB 1070 Anniversary Protest Fuses with Demand to End Apprehension of LGBTQ Immigrants, Asylum Seekers

Not buying what you are selling. I just view these articles as an attempt to weaken current immigration laws by any means necessary.
Next up will be LGBZRTS children with learning disabilities, right?

Emotionally abused by guards? Go away. Please, just go away to a country where you will not be emotionally abused by guards.

Re: “Court Hears Emergency Appeal to Temporary Block of Obama's Extended DACA, DAPA Programs

Ilegals just what the British called us when we try to fight for are freedom.
Ignorance this country is full of selfish people and does not want to share a free country.
Christian country? I think not.
I never knew coming to a country and trying to live better was illegal.

Re: “The Dish at Rum Runner to Close, Re-Open as Tasting Room

We will miss you!!! It was always (and that isn't a word I use very often) delicious, served in a intimate atmosphere by people who care. A place that is/was consistent with it's values...

Re: “The Saintly Dr. O'Leary

I was born and raised in Morenci and Dr. O'leary delivered both my kids, Leticia Osborn in 1978, and Rick Chanez in 1979. He had horses in the morenci corrals that we could ride, I remember one horse her name was muneca, doll in english. Lots of good memories of Dr. O'leary. God bless him and his family.

Re: “Danehy

Timmothy, let me ask you something. What is your fasination with my dog? Allow me to explain what he's wearing. Being from N.Y.C. I've been a Rangers fan all my life. Last year during the Stanley Cup Finals ( which we lost to L.A. in 6 games) my wife put one of my Rangers jerseys on Lambert as a joke. My picture as most people who've been around here a while remember was one of me on my custom Harley. Because of my bad back I was finally forced to give up riding. Tucson's roads didn't help. So, I took it down and put up the my of my dog, who happens to be a Hell of alot better looking than me. As far as a doggie goes, he's a Lab Shepard mix who weighs 131 pounds and is trained to protect.

Re: “Smoking and Stranded

If the authorities have their way, they'll treat it like alcohol, which is to say that they'll charge anyone with intoxication if they feel like it, whether we're REALLY intoxicated or not. Consider that this is a ZERO tolerance state regarding alcohol. Believe it or not, the majority of folks here in AZ do NOT know this. Ask people what the "legal limit for alcohol in AZ is", and the majority of them will say ".08" They are WRONG!!! If you have ANY amount of alcohol in your bloodstream, you are illegal! From .01 to .79, it's called "DUI to the slightest degree", and it's officer's discretion as to whether you get sited or not. They will do the same with marijuana, IF it ever becomes legalized.

Re: “College Tuition for DREAMers Might Drop But Fight for In-State Rate Isn't Over

DREAMERS are the victim of decisions by others; in this case of their parents when they were young children. They are by definition young people who have made good decisions in their young lives and earned access to higher education. Parenthetically, I was born in Maryland, raised until age 13 in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio. When I am asked today where I am from, I say Tucson, or Arizona, since I have spent nearly 60 years here. Where I first drew breath outside the womb is totally irrelevant in my life. The issue of citizenship can be resolved in time. The issue of education is current.

Re: “Danehy

Vince,
Al Sharpton is a despicable human being and perhaps the King of All Hypocrites. I can't stand him. As for the others, I will await their explanations before making a decision. Who among us has not had a difference of opinion with the tax people? Because I have multiple sources of income (none particularly impressive), I have to file a different way. Let's just say that they're quick to point out that they think that you owe more than you sent, but r-e-a-l s-l-o-w to let you know that you overpaid. If the MSNBC people are actually tax cheats, they don't belong on the air.

Re: “Best of Tucson Voting: Settle the Guacamole Debate

Guacamole aside, getting voted "the best of" sometimes doesn't have a whole lot of effect. If you go to Eegee's, you'll see on the recent paper tray liners, that we voted "Orange Dream" to be their best slush flavor, and yet, it's only available ONCE A YEAR!!! Imagine that - the flavor we voted their best, they choose to only make available once a year. I'd call that shooting oneself in the foot, to say the very least! Apparently, next month, Orange Dream is the 'flavor of the month'. It ought to be one of their standard flavors, always available. DO YOU HEAR ME EEGEE'S?????

Re: “Best of Tucson Voting: Settle the Guacamole Debate

No Tucson restaurant, in my experience (which includes the Guadalajara Grill), makes guacamole as well as it is made in New Mexico. If you really want good guacamole try a restaurant like La Posta in Mesilla or the Church Street Restaurant in Albuquerque. I've also had wonderful guacamole at a restaurant in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Of course, I can make it myself at home that is just as good as any of these restaurants!

Re: “No Surrender

Most of the “Golden Ones” at the U of A are products of training not talent. The difference is night and day. Many are basically fugitives from the state hospital. In fact the greatest number of admissions to area psychiatric hospitals are U of A professors.

Now the U of A had a diamond in Dr. Sue Sisley. A progressive physician with a investigative mind who was out to help Veterans. Oh, no we can’t have that! We want the credit not her! So now enters something called “professional jealousy”. Professionals will murder based on this issue. Remember, the eye surgeon who killed his partner due to professional jealousy here in Tucson? That’s how bad it can be..........

Dr. Sisley will investigate the mysteries of the Cannabis Plant and I predict she will make some striking discoveries. When this happens, the U of A will have a “change of heart” and try to bring her back into the U of A fold. I sincerely hope she tells the U of A where to get off and to shove their phony school up their vent.

Remember all major scientific discoveries are found at the ends of the Bell Curve not in the center of the Bell Curve. The U of A is out of touch and a educational system that rewards conformity not research and science.

I did not mean to comment twice but wha the U of A did to this doctor I find particularly offensive and vile.

Re: “Guest Opinion

The utilities cannot be ignorant about the coming load defection revolution. Maybe willful blindness and a hope their ACC will save them is driving their resistance?
