Re: “A True Tucson Original

Our favorite go - to Mexican Restaurant. Whenever we have out of town guests, we always bring them there for authentic Mexican food. Skip is always there and always stops by to see how the food is and if we need anything. Only complaint...there's a big gaping hole in the men's bathroom wall and lots of graffiti on stall walls.

Re: “Restaurant Redo

I love the new location and I've been twice so far. They're down the street from me, and great for a weekend lunch.

Just a note though - the Carrows building was not their original location. They originally opened on the west side of Campbell, not too far from where they are now and subsequently moved to the east side of Campbell into the big building.

Re: “Bosnian Delights

If you don't visit Ahmet & Halida's place, it's' Your Loss! The food is OUTSTANDING & one-of-a-kind for Tucson/southern Arizona. The family is as good as the food. Their story is a Real Example of Land of Opportunity! Congratulations on your anniversary & best wishes for many more years!

Re: “Bosnian Delights

This is a tremendously touching story. Thanks for introducing us to Chef Alisah's. It would have been helpful to mention menu and location. Why exclude that stuff in Chow article spotlighting this hidden gem?

Re: “Bosnian Delights

Writing a restaurant review 101: address, business hours, highs/lows, drink options. A photo of plated food helps too.

Did you actually eat there?

Re: “Bosnian Delights

Thanks for the help. I guess my eyes went past "Chef Alisah's" as a reference to the Chef, not the restaurant. My bad. Sounds like a great place.

I've been going there since it opened in 2008, and the dishes have never disappointed me. Below is the website with the menu. Check it out, go, and enjoy.

Re: “Bosnian Delights

The name is in the Heading and repeated in the 2nd paragraph. It's "Chef Asiah's."

Here's the address:

Michelangelo San Marcos Plaza, 5931 N Oracle Rd #117, Tucson, AZ 85704

You Goggle the hours and read additional reviews.

Re: “Bosnian Delights

What is the name of this restaurant? If it's in there, it's easy to miss. Address? Is there any particular dish on the menu to describe? This is a good story about these members of the community and their journey. But I will have to search to find out how to try this place. Why make it so difficult?

Re: “Food and Survival

Hi Jorgiana. I'm not sure where you received the information that college students are not eligible, but that's not entirely true. College students DO qualify, but only if they meet certain requirements. Here is a link that can help you figure out whether or not you qualify.

Re: “Food and Survival

Curious as to food assistance for college students. I just found out college students are ineligible for SNAP. Other than market on the move, and going to food banks, is there help for working college students?

Spaerhawke,I totally Misread your comment, and thought you were speaking to me. It was pointed out to me that you were not speaking to me, but to the first person who commented on the article. I apologize, my bad. This is what happens when I don't drink coffee in the morning and I read comments. My apologies.

Re: “Food and Survival

Funny, I thought this was a story about one family's eating survival and the use of the SNAP program, not the misuse of the program. I think this story could be quite beneficial to families that are using the program and were unaware of the other outlets and retailers that are being mentioned in this story.
Why don't you take your witnessing of the abuse of the program and report it to the proper authorities that could actually do something about the abuse you describe, in quite minute detail, it appears that you have firsthand knowledge/witnessing that would be beneficial to those authorities.
