Re: “A Taco Welcome

Adam, why are you promoting a restaurant that might be open in three months when there are hundreds open now? What a waste.

Re: “A Taco Welcome

I think it's brave to open Jimmy Hula's there. The "if it isn't local it sucks" line is tired. It's being opened by a Tucson guy anyway and if the food and service is good, what's the problem? And frankly the stoned, crazy, loud, wild, colorful, blissed out scene on Fourth Avenue is wonderful. Plenty of lawyers, doctors, cops, city councilmen and others down there too. Mr. Big Shot, in this case you are mistaken, but we will forgive your foolishness.

Re: “A Taco Welcome

Yo Mr big shot (oh yeah by the way nice screen name... not), maybe best not to judge a book by its cover, can't say that I've ever eaten at Jimmy Hulas, but word on the street was Starbucks wanted to rent that location, would you rather have them there or a local investor? According to your home page you don't even live in Tucson so why would you care?

Re: “A Taco Welcome

It's beyond me why anyone would bring jive Mexican facsimile food to the town that has the best Mexican fare in the U.S. That photo just screams ranch dressing and salsa that tastes like spaghetti sauce. Oh well, people that frequent 4th Ave. are so stoned, they don't know what they're eating anyway.

Re: “A Taco Welcome

I've already suggested the owner name something after Boatner's. I was thinking a signature beer from a local brewery, like "Boatner's Seaside Ale" or a Boatner's taco or something.

Re: “Beautiful Pour

A writer who uses the meaningless word "things" in the first sentence of his article is a writer who needs additional training in the craft.
Am I the only one troubled by the recent profusion of "craft breweries" in this city? Is beer really such a gourmet item that it is worthy of promotion in the Weekly? Is your readership in need of more beer snobs?
If your paper is going to continue to promote businesses that deal in alcoholic beverages, under the guise of journalism, it would be only right and proper to give equal space to the organizations that treat alcohol addiction. This would ensure that readers would be continually reminded that alcoholic beverages are the most dangerous legal drug in our society, responsible for many traffic deaths, murders, rapes, fights, child abuse and the long-term deleterious effects of parental alcoholism.
