After Toby Keith's verbal attacks against the Dixie Chicks, I wouldn't eat at a restaurant started by him if my life depended on it... He's a chickhawk who loves wars that other people's kids die in.
"Food Worthy"???? Really? What does that mean? Tucson has a a lot of talented chefs and restaurateurs already and I don't think the owner of Bianco deeming us "worthy" of having his restaurants here suddenly gives them credibility or makes them any less his equal.
Many years ago it was a restaurant rum by the folks at a local ashram. It was also a Bavarian restaurant. And I think a pizza parlor.
I remember when the Dante's Fire building was actually on fire, in January 1996. Is this what they are naming the restaurant after?
Yes we closed post 9/11 :-( maybe someday soon we will be feeding Tucson again.

I'm friggin starving
TGIFriday's on Broadway closed on Saturday night.
Going where the French restaurant used to be, facing Tanque Verde.
Here is an update on Ha Long Bay's status; I went for my last meal at this little gem a couple of weeks ago. While giving talking with the staff, I asked there future plans.
He told me they were moving to North East corner of Tanque Verde and Sabino Canyon!!!
Heres hoping them all the best on the move and much success.
This place always has great food and service. The staff enjoys their work and it shows. I've eaten here dozens of times and never had a bad meal.
The reviewer is spot-on. On my last visit I ordered the plato and was disappointed when all three dishes turned out to be beef. The flavors of the three were just about indistinguishable and the whole thing was a watery mess.
Overrated, designer food that is not so good.
Looks like the prices have gone up considerably since the last time I dined at Poca Cosa. Wow.
And is she still getting free utilities from the city for being housed in a parking garage? Just sayin'.
Cafe Poca Cosa is my favorite restaurant. I have never had a bad meal there or experienced anything like the reviewer is describing since I discovered this gem nearly 10 years ago.
Mays went downhill starting with that so-called appetizing photo that accompanied the review in the Weekly. The photo of the eggs benedict above is a close second for most unappetizing food photo.
The Chicken and Waffles hatred isn't hatred so much as it's pure sensibility. If you eat that stuff to start with your judgment is seriously impaired. The larger problem is one's judgment is clearly obvious around one's waist and rear.
Everybody got that?
Back to hating.

no but Alvernon dead ended there,
Penca is very active on Facebook. They post photos of their dishes daily.
This sounds like another place to avoid, featuring mediocre food and plenty of it, just like all other American chain restaurants.
"...opened in 1980, back when the intersection of Fort Lowell Road and Alvernon Way was on the outskirts of town."
This was not "on the outskirts of town". Writer obviously did not live in Tucson in 1980.
Re: “Noshing Around”
I never said that there isn't equally talented Chefs/Restauranteurs already here. What and Who I am referring to is those that work day to day behind the line, making the visions of these chefs come to life. Its validation for us, the middle guys, not the ones with "Chef/Owner" after their name. That we, the day to day soldiers, are as good as places such as NY or LA or even Portland, a place that many like to compare Tucson to on a regular basis. That is what I am referring to when I say, "Food Worthy".
