The Wildcat's story is from January 10. We must be operating on different calendars.
Adam left to pursue his medical career.
Castalian Spring has been open for a while now. The Daily Wildcat covered the bar's opening over three months ago. Way to be timely.
They are/were short staffed due to employee turnover. The root cause of employee turnover is not the employees themselves, but poor management.
I was in the establishment once shortly after they opened and saw the chef/owner demean several employees, and as such I will never be going back again.
The owner is also a pretty foolish person that treats people that disagree with him as an enemy. Here is a comment that was posted to another review site followed by the owner's response.
Review:
"orderd eggplant parmagian - taste was overwhelmed by the cheese. Also it was served over spaghetti which was cut into 2-inch pieces. Pasta was dry and lacked any sauce whicjh was only on top of eggplant. Dish was $16 - overpriced. No offer of shredded cheese or pepper for dishes. Bread was warmewd rolls but of poor commercial type."
Owner's Response:
First nice lie Eggplant is 14.99 not 16.00 second everyone loves our eggplant it's made to order and three tier high. And it says on the menu all Entrees are served over Speghetti and topped with parm and parsley unless otherwise specified. Pasta is made daily and if you wanted more sauce, cheese or peppers our servers would have brought it out for you and our bread is made daily from Sweet Tooshies Bakery daily. So keep you mean unprofessional comments to yourself. If you don't ask for something and misinform people about false pricing you can go to belladauria.net and see the menu and pricing. And my last cement to you is why are you a reward customer in the first place the point is you get 3 points per dollar spent including tip and the participating restaurants are the one paying For your benefit. By February 25th I will not be a rewards network due to idiots like yourself. And to everyone else reading this I will not be nice to negative people with false accusations. Everyone thinks there food critics because of all these restaurant shows on TV but I Still Remember my mother saying if you have nothing nice to say say nothing at all and all who read this remember this saying and it is sad no one lives by this anymore. Bella D'Auria is a small family owned and operated business and is trying to keep there doors open in this bad economy where it almost seems like the chains are taking over. But it's the people that right a reviews like this that hurt the small business and I' don't believe in this day and age that the customer is always right.
I loved Milagro. Way ahead of it's time.
Thanks Downtowner! As the owner of Milagro Coffee News and Books (early 1990's) I appreciate the long memories Tucson has!
This place is three times more dangerously addictive than an opium den and every bit as delightful. If you don't have a mouthgasm upon biting into whatever sandwich you've chosen, you simply don't have taste buds anymore. I cannot stress the caveat emptor enough, because you will be hooked.
Oh, MAN, now I'll NEVER get back in there! But, if you go, ask for the smoked bratwirst. They're the best thing they make, but never do, because no one asks for them.
Thanks for sharing! Will have to check it on the West side soon!
The person applying for the liquor license has not had one in the State of Arizona for over 10 years. He was only barred for 5 so there is not one town in the whole state of Arizona that would be able to deny him a license, based on his past. Furthermore, the town of Marana has NOT denied him a license. The 'club' you are speaking of was in business for over 20 years. Were you concerned when Cactus Moon was there? Or are you just concerned because of the rumors surrounding the new applicant? A little research on your end could be helpful in this situation. Do you actually believe that a shooting is going to occur just because someone owned a nightclub where one occurred over 12 years ago?
We did visit for high tea when they opened and it was very nice. The staff were overwhelmed so I would think by now they would hire more people. My only complaint was that I saw the cook open a package of lettuce and chop it for a salad without washing it first.
Yes, that's the old R&R location.
Is this in the old R&R spot?
My kids go to the St. Joseph school right next to where this club is going to be and I don't like it at all. I don't know the company going in there, but from what I've heard even Marana won't let him run a bar there. Don't we have enough shootings already???
Used to go once a month or so.
Tried the new layout and food and wasn't pleased.
Don't plan on going back.
Lots of other good places like Downtown Kitchen and Cocktails.
It's worth noting that, at least when I was there, they took $2.00 off of the order price to offset the ATM fee. The food is really, really good.
I have been to here many a time and the food is too die for!!!
They gave fantastic customer service and a very friendly atmosphere-
This is the only Mediterranean that I enjoy in Tucson-
Cash only keeps costs down. Many East Coast Mom and Pops have this policy. Some have ATMs in the restaurants.
Re: “Sit Down on 12th”
Yawn.... what a boring food scene Tucson has. Its a joke.
