This article is spot on! Everything Alafia serves is fantastic. It's food you think about for a long time after. The memory will cross your mind unexpectedly throughout the next month, calling you back.
Thank you Adam for writing this story and thank you everyone for reading and commenting on this article. We are excited to open in Tucson using local investment money and to provide 30+ local jobs. We understand and accept we cannot please everyone, but just the same, we hope you all will be open minded, visit our establishment when we open this holiday season and try some fish tacos.
I was part of the team that opened Firebirds at La Encantada mall, countless people told us we wouldn't last a year, but almost 15 years later, guess what? Might not be your favorite restaurant, but Firebirds is still there and going strong. Point is, these guys know they can't make everybody happy, but given their location, clearly they are no dummies, this place will do just fine whether you like it or not.
The location is torn up beyond recognition and no work is happening at all... We'll see when an opening actually occurs. In the meantime, I agree with chow reader... How about promote something that actually exists?
Adam, why are you promoting a restaurant that might be open in three months when there are hundreds open now? What a waste.

I think it's brave to open Jimmy Hula's there. The "if it isn't local it sucks" line is tired. It's being opened by a Tucson guy anyway and if the food and service is good, what's the problem? And frankly the stoned, crazy, loud, wild, colorful, blissed out scene on Fourth Avenue is wonderful. Plenty of lawyers, doctors, cops, city councilmen and others down there too. Mr. Big Shot, in this case you are mistaken, but we will forgive your foolishness.
Yo Mr big shot (oh yeah by the way nice screen name... not), maybe best not to judge a book by its cover, can't say that I've ever eaten at Jimmy Hulas, but word on the street was Starbucks wanted to rent that location, would you rather have them there or a local investor? According to your home page you don't even live in Tucson so why would you care?
It's beyond me why anyone would bring jive Mexican facsimile food to the town that has the best Mexican fare in the U.S. That photo just screams ranch dressing and salsa that tastes like spaghetti sauce. Oh well, people that frequent 4th Ave. are so stoned, they don't know what they're eating anyway.
I've already suggested the owner name something after Boatner's. I was thinking a signature beer from a local brewery, like "Boatner's Seaside Ale" or a Boatner's taco or something.
