About an hour ago I was thinking of my favorite Devo songs. Almost all of them are present here. Red Eye Express, Booji Boy's Funeral, Jocko Homo, Beautiful World.
Also love Timing X, Smart Patrol, Going Under, Planet Earth, Satisfaction and Worried Man.
A wonderful and intimidate portrait of a great man and his legendary family!
Humble, yet you could always see the passion for life, and concern for people, in his eyes. He not only spoke to you, he listened w/ compassion and concern, deep thought & kindness for all... To my dear cousins in AZ....Our Love and soul felt heartache is with you.... Michael was a special light in this changing world. A light that kept us all connected to learning and knowing the value of each of our own heritage. Those special souls that Lived before us, Shared, Gave, and Loved not only their families, but those around them.... You dear man, Michael J. Ronstadt, my cousin, a true legacy <3 <3
Glad to see you are still covering local music and all the bands that will be at HOCO. Not!
Thank You to the Weekly and Dan Buckley for memorializing Mike Ronstadt. He was a Tucson treasure for many reasons. He was a true gentleman that always had time to listen to peoples stories. He cared deeply for everything around him. He had a way of stealing your heart with a song and then carrying the conversation into how to fix a river. I have known Michael since Junior High and kept our friendship all these years. I will miss him deeply.
So true about Michael. Just being next to him I felt grounded. How lucky I feel to have know him even though our time was split from high school till now. He changed me in many ways. The music continues.
He always stayed humble as we adored him, his beautiful voice and his tender heart.
What a beautiful tribute to Michael, Daniel. Thank you for sharing your experience of him with the world.
Wonderful job, Dan.
Thank you for such a beautiful portrait of a beautiful man. I met Michael way back when we were both 14, his Sister Lindy was my next door neighbor in Topanga, she introduced us, and our friendship lasted a lifetime. Oh how beautiful Heavens music just became with the addition of Michaels chocolate voice and rich songs.
Adios my friend. May the Wind Lift You.
What a gracious man of music he was!
You've taken memorializing to a beautiful new level, Dan, in expressing the emotions of a community that has cherished Michael and so many Ronstadts over time. His family, my family, and so many others were long intertwined in the fabric of this town, and it hurts terribly when another thread snaps. The night last year that others and I thrilled at Michael's rich music in my back patio is a gift I'll always have.
What a beautiful tribute to a man of such talent and who has passed his legacy to his amazing sons. I had the pleasure of meeting Michael and his family at common ground on the hill. What a privilege to have had that experience. He will be greatly missed but his rich legacy will live on in his family
He was a wonderful man with an incredible voice. He is and will be missed.
Brian, what a great article, what a life lived.... Adam from Xotics fame. I'll never forget you visiting me in the hospital. I hope to hear the Gents again live some day.
In 1972 Joe Levkowitz sold me my first kingston amp for $30, I thought that was so awesome, decade after decade the Chicago store has always been there to help me and my bands, there managers are great and the Chicago store vibe has always been unique.
Indeed, indeed. See you cats in Seattle next month.
My favorite band and they are coming to play in Tucson! It doesn't get any better than that!
Love the circular peak meter!
A most wonderful time to have been in Tucson. The Talent and Creativity seemed to have exploded raining down and enriching the parched palette of the Pueblo Viejo. Reading the quote from Becky "Bebe" sparked a memory of her contagious soul filled laugh unlike no other. The contributions of Bloat and it's Artists may be unknown to many but for those who were graced with the enjoyment of their Art realize they received a special gift.....
