Re: “B-Sides: Viva La Vinyl

This is a great young record store that lends itself to live gigs [local & out of town],it is not
some hipster joint where you would be embarrassed to ask for Elton John's "Madman...." lp or the 1st
E.W.&F. "Keep your head to the sky" lp.However, the folks working there know alot about new Genre's
i never heard of .They will find you an old "Rainer Ptacek" or a new "Katterwaul".Wooden Tooth has
kind, stand -up guys who own it and you won't go wrong stoppin' in.I been there...These stores are treasure for minds who crave music.

Couldn't agree more. Foxx Bodies. They're mesmerizing. The raw, simple emotion is striking in it's clarity and wry sarcastic humor. Bella is brilliant and the chemistry is deep. They make me feel silly and tragic at the same time. No, I'm not on drugs. lol

Re: “Hitsville AZ

i think that even having studio's in this town again,is a real encouraging sighn that there are places of different attitudes and not just 1 and the rest follow suit/knock off's of the same parameters. There is always a revolving cast of the older fellas and a bunch of new cats that are ready& eager to make music they want to hear,to be important,.This project is real cool and bare naked songs. That has an audience that i hope buys it.Good luck to all involved. We are lucky to avoid alot of pretentious groups that wont even listen to a band in a bar or on record playing it's heart out giving up words, melody's that let your mind drift ,or make you feel a little less alone. Here's to you all and sales that might just make a part 2.-a fan

Re: “Noise Annoys

Periods and correct grammatical use of english, don't mean that it has passion or a story.
I'm very bad at that end of things but i'm not sure that is the game changer in rock n roll or writing about it.But i try to learn as i go ,spose that is good enuff for a note pad and a record. These days most musicians can't get near a publishing deal .now that is a shame.World wide shame.

"anyone's guess is as good as anyone else's"

"the chances aren't high that Mute Swan won't fade off"

"the fact remains that historically, the worldand when I say the world I mean Germany and France likes its Tucson music"

Really? Anyone's guess is as good as any one else's why the standards for what doesn't not get published by the Weekly here seems to be written by kid's whose chances aren't high that that they won't not pass 3rd grade English class.

Re: “Noise Annoys

i would have to disagree on the music that "makes it out of here" truth is very little really makes it out of anywhere cuz it is such a wide open game that have persistance and work ethic will travel.Rock and roll is a young mans game /always will be/It is anyones guess as to who and why folks sell a few records in europe .I think they appreciate songwriters more then in states. But Tucson is only helpe by media and the occasional breakthrough .Young cats like Gabe and Brian work real real hard to rise . But ya know the music industry confuses me and ive yet to see any spoils so to speak.more power to the young bands ,it is there game in the end.

Re: “Noise Annoys

I think the "music" that "influenced" Mr Gelb et al was more the yowling of feral cats in the alleys of Tucson and discombobulated street poetry of the bohemian wino than the awesome soundtracks of any western movies no matter what era

Re: “Noise Annoys

Hey, Joshua...a "50s Western" would be cowboy music, like Rex Allen and Roy Rogers. The music that may have "influenced" Gabe Sullivan and Howe Gelb and others is more likely the Ennio Moricone soundtracks of Sergio Leone's "spagheti westerns" of the late 60s-early 70s. The ones that did so well with Clint Eastwood.

"Frequently gigging". That means they play about 6 times a year for their friends.

Re: “Harvest Rising

I bought Sedlmayer's Charmed Life after reading his excellent remembrances of Neil Young's early recordings. Charmed Life is one great album. Not a throw away in the bunch.

Re: “Adios, Compadre

I had the pleasure of first meeting Michael, Ted and the other Santa Cruz band members when they were touring in Wales, UK, some years ago. After that I went to every performance they did when they returned to Wales. Such a talented, gracious and inspirational man. His boys are a great credit to him and their family. They always had time at the end of a gig to chat with audience members, with a genuine interest and enthusiasm. I gave Michael a book of Welsh tunes the last time I met up with them, as a link to Wales where they and their music was so loved. I hope that they enjoyed playing them. There will always be a welcome in Wales for the Ronstadt family if they are able to visit here again. Papa Mike's passing has saddened me and my musician friends more than I can express. That is a wonderful tribute to him which Dan has written. Sincere condolences to Deborah and all those who loved him. Papa Mike - you were so loved and will be sorely missed. Les H, North Wales

About an hour ago I was thinking of my favorite Devo songs. Almost all of them are present here. Red Eye Express, Booji Boy's Funeral, Jocko Homo, Beautiful World.

Also love Timing X, Smart Patrol, Going Under, Planet Earth, Satisfaction and Worried Man.
