Just a little clarification: Bill Carter did not omit Doug Biggers from this posting. I did. Not because Doug doesn't deserve credit -- which I am sure he does -- but because this posting was simply intended to be a short piece giving some ink to a worthy place and an upcoming concert, and because I didn't want to get into the ins and outs of who did what, when and why. This is not an investigative piece, nor even a whole feature article. I am sure Doug's involvement in the Bisbee Royale is worthy of in-depth exploration in a forum other than a casual blog posting.

The Bisbee Royale was entirely the vision of Tucson Weekly founder Doug Biggers, who is also responsible for the Rialto Theatre we know and love today. He worked on the project for nearly 18 months and is the reason the Bouchevers are involved. Credit where credit is due, Bill Carter! Anyway, it's a great place and you should check it out and Bisbee, too.

I agree with most of what you said, especially no tunes from "Blue Moon Swamp"( Blue Boy & Hurricane) & even "Revival". I have the DVD called "Premonition" from 1997 and considering I paid big bucks for this concert ( $90), I thought I'd see backup singers, maybe a backdrop stage setup, but no, just J.F. & his backup band. It was basically all the late 60/early 70 hits. Loved that Kenny Aronoff was drumming. He IS the best F'N drummer in the world. ( also the drummer on the aforementioned "Premonition" DVD. )Thought J.F. was incredibly great with his guitar work, and he played every side of the stage to the crowds delight. I was in row 2 left of stage, & everyone was standing & singing to the songs & having a great time. Yes, it was an expensive concert for me ( double what I paid for George Thorogood & Molly Hatchett 2 weeks earlier) but to see a legend playing so many hits from his heyday, yes, I guess I'd say it was worth it.

Your "I'm above all this" attitude is pathetic. I can understand if Southern Rock isn't your genre of music, to each his/her own. But to put it down as though only neanderthals could possibly enjoy it is condescending and immature. I happen to enjoy Southern Rock, and my IQ is in the 130's. And I'd like to hear how "Sweet Home Alabama" is racist exactly. Is it because of the line "In Birmingham they love the Governor"? Perhaps you don't hear the "boo boo boo" sung by the the backup singers after that line. The writer of the lyrics, Ronnie Van Zant, was quoted clearly as saying neither they nor the song were pro-Wallace. So please don't throw out the "racist" thing so irresponsibly.

Does anyone know when this show is actually going to start? Would love to have inside info. Whatever time is listed on the Congress website is rarely better than within an hour and a half it seems. Anyone?
