Like so many other revered institutions, Americans are allowing their precious public school system to be destroyed, so people like Barrett can get richer. Do I hear the death knell of democracy in the distance?
Children who are citizens, worry that their non-citizen parents will be deported, and their family torn apart. So many of the people who support SB1070, don't even know any undocumented people, but they know inherently it seems, that they don't like them. (See above in all caps.) I've spoken to people who actually believe that all Mexicans are criminal drug dealers, and thus should be deported, en masse. SB1070 is a terrible law. Repealing it would be one step in the improvement of Arizona's reputation and economy.
Remember your catechism, consorting with the devil is a mortal sin according to your church. Say two hail Marys, one our father, and father O'Malley is waiting for you in the vestibule. Halloween gets one entry in the hitchhikers guide. The guide says it's "mostly harmless". Teenagers tend to ruin it for everybody, though. Tucsonans are lucky in that we get to celebrate twice. Once for Halloween and once for Dia De Los Muertos. Hopefully, in a few generations, it will meld into one incomprehensible week long party complete with processions and mardi gras style traveling costume balls.
REPEAL SB1070 NOW
SB 1070 IS PROBABLY THE BEST THING THAT HAS HAPPENED IN ARIZONA! ALSO, THERE IS A LAW THAT SAYS LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT MUST HELP THE FEDS WITH CRIME & SB 1070 COMPLIES WITH THAT FULLY!
WHAT'S TEARING APART THE COMMUNITY ARE MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS (THEY ARE NOT "IMMIGRANTS" AS "IMMIGRANTS" MEANS PEOPLE WHO COME HERE LEGALLY LIKE OUR ANCESTORS!) IN THE COUNTRY STEALING AMERICANS' JOBS, COMMITTING CRIMES, STEALING OUR SOCIAL SERVICES, OVERWHELMING OUR SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS, ETC., ETC. - THAT'S WHAT'S REALLY TEARING APART THE NATION!
Call it a wild guess. Are you signed up yet, Eric?
"I love it. Liberals clicking on dislike without leaving a comment. Hate those facts don't ya ? Signed up yet, Tommy ? This is too easy."
Some things are so idiotic that they don't deserve a response, but I'm going to make an exception in this case. Question: If the people didn't comment, what evidence do you have that they were liberal?
I love it. Liberals clicking on dislike without leaving a comment. Hate those facts don't ya ? Signed up yet, Tommy ? This is too easy.
Tom Horne definitely sucks. He's one sleazy-ass politician. Still, his "attacks" on the Raza Studies program were warranted. I worked at Tucson High for many years and can assure you that the MAS teachers there were completely out of control (telling the students in their classes that certain colleagues they didn't like were "racists", kicking students out of their class and calling them racially provocative names if they questioned the teachers' extremist viewpoints, etc., etc.) The principal at the time fully supported their antics and the district administration ignored it. Therefore, Tom Horne, as State Superintendent, needed to get involved.
Nice straw man letter for everyone to laugh at the stupid gringos. You really expect me to believe any one is so stupid to simultaneously:
1) eat at Taco Bell (ok, guilty in my younger days before I got the digestive connection)
2) assume from no evidence that the clerk is Mexican AND illegal
3) not know how to pronounce jalapeno
4) write a letter to 'Ask A Mexican' about it
Pepper's thoughts are a seemingly admission that climatic change has occurred, is occurring and will continue to occur, with or without the influence of man. I agree; let's forget the man-caused Global Warming fable and move on making life better for mankind using fossil fuels. The seas will rise, as they have in the past, and they will fall again just as they have in the recent past (+-8,000 years).
Further, his comments on the extraction of fossils of long-extinct species demonstrates another continuing truth - species come - species go. The strong and adaptable survive, the weak and too specialized parish. This is how it works.
To be sure unnecessary mass slaughter of animals is truly a sin, but the loss of species as we dominate the earth is the timeless way things work. Move on and make life better for mankind not by protecting things like the sage grouse or snail darter and denying the full beneficial use of resources in and on the land. This is foolishness, not wisdom; be concerned, but not ridiculous.
Until such time as moderate and reasonable Muslims publically condemn and distance themselves from the murders in their faith they will continue to be profiled, mistrusted and, in many cases hated.
It is entirely possible the lady she considered irrational has lost some very dear to her at the hands of these murdering fiends. This would cause anyone to react toward an in-your-face display. Do not be critical of this lady, but rather pity her, irrespective of her reason.
I still have not completely forgiven the Japanese for the destruction they wrought on my family when I was a boy more than 65 years ago. Some pains are more enduring.
Rule Change Needed:People on food stamps NOT pay $75 for a MM Card, but get it for FREE!!!
All my Medicare/AHCCCS doctors sign for my Pot,and not $200 doctors.
All you Obummercare fans. Read the article that starts on the front page of today's Red Star. Then read the one on page 2. Funny. Too frealen' funny. Don't dislike me. I didn't write them.
This made my day; perhaps my week. Thanks.
He's just part of the AZ Corruption Club. They stick together. How else can you explain Steve Yarbrough voting on legislation that enriches his pocketbook through his Student Tuition Organization (STO)?
Or an unknown STO, collecting 10% of Geico's eight million dollar donation to private school tuition?
Just like Kansas, Arizonans vote against their best interests every chance they get.
One more time, President Obama and his close advisers came up with the idea of the sequester and proposed it. The Republicans acquiesced to him. President Obama owns the sequester.
National Monuments were not closed during the 1995 government shutdown, and some National Parks including the Grand Canyon were allowed to remain open with private and non-federal funding. President Obama refused to accept outside funding to keep some of these areas open, including the war memorial in Normandy which is already privately funded.
President Obama even spent money to close and then place police guards at memorials that require no such supervision when the government is not shut down. He also spent money to close and guard roadside turnouts near national parks that are normally unmanned and require no supervision.
President Obama refused to allow government employees to work for no pay to maintain services for citizens.
Only 17% of the government was closed during the shutdown. President Obama had discretion to choose which areas of service to be disrupted. Some government employees were told to make life as difficult as possible for citizens.
In the 1995 shutdown President Clinton met with Speaker Gingrich every day. During the 2013 shutdown President Obama and Congressional Democrats refused to meet with Republicans, so why is all the blame placed upon Republicans?
I saw him in a restaurant shortly after he graduated and right before a UA football game. He had a cast on his leg. He was eatting with a couple of friends and I went up and told him he was my favorite UA football player ever (prior to that it was Bruce Hill) and he was so gracious. A great all around guy.
Tom, As usual I agree with you 100% but I have to point out a mistake. Rivera was born a Rivera to a Puerto Rican father. Here's a snopes.com article along with his UofA yearbook picture: http://www.snopes.com/media/celebrity/gera…
ALL of the budget-cutting madness that pervades Washington these days derives from the sort of anti-government dogma that is wholeheartedly embraced by the Tea Party. The pathetic dynamic of Obama and squishy Democrats acquiescing to such nonsense does not change that fact. In that context, "Teaquester" is perfectly accurate.
Secondly, the simple fact is that the parks were forced to shut down by the failure of Congress to do its job and settle funding issues in a timely matter. What part of that do you not understand?
