Re: “Eyes on the Streets

I don't like my picture taken either but people do it all the time, rather flattering actually. No name pictures are the best. However, I seriously believe there's another "Einstien or cure for cancer among them. First you need to go to college, or at least have some type of gainful employment. I wish any of the homeless reporters would ask, how, why, when and where of the topic, it's basic journalism.

Re: “Marijuana Like Alcohol?

In 1937, the Nazi Forces in America criminalized marijuana as part of the "Final Solution" policy to justify the unconstitutional arrest and incarceration of African-Americans and Hispanics.

In 2016, WE THE PEOPLE will vote to legalize Marijuana and STOP the Nazi-era fascism and oppression imposed by a few Republican alcoholics.

God bless America, God bless Liberty, Vote for FREEDOM 2016..!

Re: “Marijuana Like Alcohol?

Cannabis is a superfood that can produce a euphoric feeling if the consumer desires. It is completely safe and not addictive. Alcohol is very addictive and dangerous.

The system used for alcohol is stupid and causes unnecessary costs and only allows a few people to realize the potential revenue generation available from the market.

Cannabis ought to be legalized, for sure. However, the distribution system ought not emulate alcohol and ought not restrict individuals from choosing to grow their own, and ought not restrict the small businessperson or ma and pa shop from participating in commerce. In addition, any model is not acceptable if the police will continue to have incentive to be concerned about cannabis activity- and have the ability to investigate, raid, arrest and take items of value from citizens due to cannabis involvement.

Re: “The Skinny

Forty days left and John McCain can’t seem to do anything Right (pun intended). His people at Reform Institute in Alexandria Virginia are spending his millions like water on a fake primary candidate who just can’t stop stealing and on poorly produced Television ads that are so clumsily written they make us all laugh about their pathetically arrogant soon-to-be-fired boss.
McCain ads claim former Arizona State Senator, Kelli Ward has voted on Federal funding Bills in company with Bernie Sanders and Raul Grijalva (a US Senator and a US Congressman).
McCain ads also claim veterans are angry as Hell at State Legislator, Kelli Ward because she voted against some Federal Armed Service Funding Bills.

How stupid does McCain think we are? We know Bernie and Raul vote in Washington. We know Kelli Ward voted in Phoenix. We know Veterans like us aren’t dumb enough to confuse Phoenix, Arizona with Washington DC. McCain apparently thinks Vets are stupid and Arizona Republicans are stupid.
So the old fool has people in Virginia who admit throwing his money away buying prime time TV spots to insult the intelligence of his Arizona Voters.
Funny or pathetic? Forty Days…

Wow! The power of American marketers is amazing. The whole time I read this article, all I could think of was the Charmin bears in place of the humans playing out this tawdry tale of toilet troubles.

Re: “Ducey 'Next Step' Watch: 2 Month Anniversary

If you want to understand what's gone wrong with Arizona you have to look at the state of the Democratic Party as well. Why can't they mobilize their base?

Read all of Safier's blogs about TUSD and all the comments on them for the last few years and you'll start to get the picture. It's one example of what happens when factions practicing quid-pro-quo machine politics become a powerful contingent in a particular regional branch of the party's operation. Public trust is destroyed.

Re: “Marijuana Like Alcohol?

An estimated $150,000,000,000 (BILLION) PER YEAR from recreational cannabis sales in America goes directly into the hands of crime cartels and gangs. Legalization will take this fortune away from drug lords and place it into the hands of legitimate responsible business. This plus another $10,000,000,000 (BILLION) is wasted on needless cannabis law enforcement and another $30,000,000,000 (BILLION) lost in potential tax revenue. BILLIONs down the toilet every year due to ridiculous cannabis prohibition laws that make no sense and destroy people's lives daily.

US CDC Figures on numbers of deaths per year in the USA:

* Prescription Drugs: 237,485 + 5,000 traffic fatalities
* Tobacco: 390,323
* Alcohol: 88,013 + 16,000 traffic fatalities
* Cocaine: 4,906
* Heroin: 3,365
* Aspirin: 466
* Acetaminophen (Tylenol): 179
* Marijuana: 0, no fatal toxic overdoses and almost no traffic problems

So, which is safer? Legalize cannabis NOW!!!

Oh and I forgot Debbie. Debbie is the one who took the photo of the flowers. Debbie took almost one hundred beautiful photos around downtown Tucson. She is truly an artist and said that regardless of her circumstances, she looks for beauty in everything she sees.

Re: “Ducey 'Next Step' Watch: 2 Month Anniversary

Arizona is a state where the population has been dumbed down by so much by their crappy education system that they keep electing the same ideology that has created and perpetuated said crappy system.

Now, all you Arizonans (Great Red Necked Lemmings) go out and do what you always for the same ideology..........................they'll fix it this time.

WON'T THEY?????????

Re: “Eyes on the Streets

Thank you Jennifer and the Tucson Weekly. I want to state that this project was totally funded by myself and any sales or donations made to the Project will go directly back to the photographers through the Carlos G. Figueroa Foundation. This was truly something I did in an attempt to empower a few of those living homeless on the streets of Tucson. Peter, Lonnie, Sharon, Staci, Pat, Blu, Chad, Jake, Pat and Tim are all an incredible group of human beings with their own set of struggles. I am proud to have been a part of each of their lives.

Re: “Danehy

Tom, your article is an interesting take on the issue. I am thinking it might fail, because the "stoners" as you call them, will not vote for it for exactly the opposite reason. As you may be aware, there was another initiative being circulated, that was far less restrictive, but this one was funded very heavily by the medical marijuana clinics and growers, because it protects their investment by giving them a semi-monopoly on supply and distribution.

As for your demographic analysis, I am a CPA and was initially surprised at not only how many people asked if they could deduct their medical mj expenses, but who they were. Saddlebrook, Dove Mountain, Green Valley residents. And these people vote.

I would not put money on either side of this at this point.

Re: “Marijuana Like Alcohol?

The Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area reports cited by Ms Polk are deceptive, dishonest and acknowledge no positive effects from legalization. In reality, the benefits of a legal, regulated market are obvious, abundant and have been an unqualified success. Arizona can join in that success or remain in denial by continuing to favor an uncontrollable black market and making criminals of adults who prefer a safer alternative to alcohol or tobacco and are causing no harm to themselves or others.

Re: “Marijuana Like Alcohol?

Wow. - The prohibitionists are addicted to criminalizing good citizens who prefer near harmless marijuana over addictive, very harmful alcohol. -- Such ugly bigotry.

Science and widespread experience have shown marijuana has no significant harms. -- Smart employers of the future will prefer their employees consume near harmless marijuana, rather than addictive, very harmful, violence inducing, traffic carnage fueling, hangover-producing alcohol.

End the fraudulent, federal, marijuana prohibition with two clicks!…

Re: “X-Men: Apocalypse is the Worst Movie in an Otherwise Solid Franchise

This so called "review" is a joke, right? I mean really, if you were a fan of the comics or the early 90s television cartoon then you would appreciate this movie instead of being confused. Was the story too hard for you to follow? You clearly have no knowledge of the cannon material the series is based off if you think that X3 was better than Apocalypse. Singer's return heralded a return to a truer x-men universe. I agree with the comment above, your opinion is completely irrelevant. Please do not review anymore movies.
