Re: “So Are Your AZ Politicians Supporting Trumpcare?

Socialized medicine saved my life, too. And I went from being "the working poor" to being comfortably middle class. I am not an anomaly, these programs HELP.

For months McSally has been saying she was working with leaders in Congress on this bill. Now she is "on the fence?"

Re: “So Are Your AZ Politicians Supporting Trumpcare?

Trumpcare keeps all the goodies (pre-existing coverage, etc.) with no way to pay for them. Then adds tax breaks for millionaires, and kicks 24 million people off insurance completely with no plan on how to pay for their care when they show up at the emergency room. It removes the subsidy for older people and throws them on the "mercies" of the market.
It does nothing to rein in costs. Nothing.
Expect healthcare costs to continue to rise.

Re: “So Are Your AZ Politicians Supporting Trumpcare?

Turk, ACA would work fine if we got everyone on the program. Right now, it was cheaper for the young to take the tax penalty instead of insurance. So, some insurers lost money and left the program.

Re: “So Are Your AZ Politicians Supporting Trumpcare?

The Federal government needs to get out of "gee, it would be nice" activities and stick to what is mandated in the constitution. ACA by any name will not work in the long run when its customer base is those with bad health. Single payer is the only way it will work, and that has not been made clear in selling this mess to the people.

Re: “So Are Your AZ Politicians Supporting Trumpcare?

Even though the CBO has never been accurate, it's all we have right? How often should the government punish the rich for the plight of the poor?

Has it pulled anybody out of poverty, or just bought votes? Be honest.

And the "Eastside Bad Hombres?" Are they still sharing a Prius?

Please.

That might be cute if it hasn't been 45 years of steady decline in US schools.

By all means, M. Yancey, we should leap first and look later.

I am not willing to let another child suffer, let's stop waiting and do it now.

I am forced to assume that this author is happy with the status quo. Or is it fear of change that retards his thinking?

Are you saying that Obama did not have loyalties to Kenya?

Just like Obama was a Communist Kenyan. It's always easy to see nefarious motivations in those you disagree with.

Looks like the tin foil hats have moved to the other's heads. The comment above was exactly the same about Obama. Nothing is ever as bad, or good, as we think it is. I am going to enjoy the show, and stay out of the way.

Re: “T.H.R.E.A.T. Watch: Why Does Trump Call the Press 'Vrag Naroda'?

The longer people, especially the media, focus on the President and what he says -- whether in public, in the press or during his frequent Twitter tirades -- the more time those actually running things behind the scene will have to do irreparable damage to the United States and its people.

If you haven't figured it out by now, the President said and did whatever he needed to get elected. Now that it is painfully obvious that making good on his promises will be another exercise in obfuscating language, alternative facts and post-truth rhetoric the media and the people need to focus on what he is actually doing.

Hint: he's not doing much other than letting others systematically tear down and remove the checks and balances that used to keep the government from figuratively and actually destroying Americans lives.

As nationalism sweeps the globe here and abroad, conditions for another World War are quickly taking shape both geo-politically and economically. They say the price of freedom is vigilance, but right now this country's leaders are drunk with power, flying down the road of an uncertain future, pedal to the metal, conspiracy radio blaring and smashing every mailbox along the way, especially those filled with rules, regulations, laws and copies of the United States Constitution.

On the subject of "this is what you need to say to win" and that-thing-that-you-need-to-say-to-win having zero truth value, I wonder what David thinks of the following statements:

"Rachael Sedgwick is a white supremacist."

"The new TUSD Board majority wanted to fire Sanchez because he was a Hispanic."

It will never cease to amaze me how relentlessly David Safier delights in occupying himself with pitching his judgmental, holier-than-thou stones through the walls of the glass house house he and his friends live in.

No need to respond to questions in the comment streams, David. We know it's beneath you.

(Or is it, perhaps, above him?)

Re: “Advice on Welcoming Immigrants, From SXSW

Donna,

I never talked about race in my post at all. I talked about immigration. Immigrants are not a race!

Your ignorance is either genuine or more likely it's representative of your own sinister motives for posting here.

This is a blog post about immigration. If you want an ephemeral platform to discuss urban density and resource usage you should try to find a blog on that topic, maybe in the process you will read some of the litany of research that shows you are wrong.

Good day.
