David W, a question. Do you think I'm mocking Diane Douglas? Read it again. I'm pointing out that she is making politically savvy moves, which are driving Ducey and his friends crazy. Cruz, who I think is a fool ideologically, is a very, very smart guy and a gonzo strategist who also drives the Republican establishment crazy.
Surprisingly enough, I've been heaping more praise than scorn on Douglas lately. See, for instance, Reading Diane Douglas' "State of Education" Tea Leaves. http://www.tucsonweekly.com/TheRange/archi…. Lots of the things she's said since she's been in office are commendable.
You missed my point entirely David W. So I will let you think whatever you think about me. Power struggles in a party is not 'free thinking'. You justified the power plays no less.
Did it occur to you that the children are completely lost in this game between them? THe original argument was over what is best for the children.
Chill out Robin. Your assumptions are choking you. How did you become so militant and angry?
Prisoners are getting pregnant? Have they added a baby wing?
Robin, did you even READ the article? Stop hating and try thinking. You will be a better person.
Difference David W between free thinkers and crazy thinkers. I think following Fox, Rush and Hannity and the Republican party line does not qualify you to evaluate a good thinker in any way, manner or form. I know what those pundits are saying because Republicans ALL SAY THE SAME THINGS. THey generally devalue people and value money more than life. Prisons are more important than children... and the beat goes on.
I get it Rat T and David W... you don't think education is valuable. You think really caring for all children and valuing their differences is not valuable. You think you can run school districts cheaply like charter people so you must believe that the possibility of fraud is okay .... with mounting evidence it is going on. You don't care how hard people are working to have an educated total population. You just don't care. I think all children are worth it. You are so busy making sure that somebody is profiting off of children because somehow that makes the education better you don't see anything else. I get it.
Thats right Rat, if we can just get those kindergarten girls to duke it out, we will have real competition in education, just like we have real competition in health care.
Republicreeps haven't had a new idea since Lincoln.
If only you guys put as much effort into making public schools... attractive, competitive, first choice schools, instead of trying to eliminate any competition.
Instead we see buildings falling down, buses burning and disruptive political policy forced onto unknowing citizenry and their children.
Stop and take a good look at yourselves. Compete and provide a better product.
Why would you mock free thinkers within a party? That is why I will not vote democrat again. There are no new ideas. They have proven over and over the old ones don't work, yet they have no new thought processes.
Rick Spanier, I just want you to know that long-term subs aren't there because there isn't enough money for regular teachers. They are there because they can't get teachers... We have an extreme teacher shortage in southern Arizona because of extremely low pay . Now you be saying that if the legislature paid what it should, we could have more qualified teachers.. yes I agree. Just wanted to clarify that. Plus we have a legislature that keeps cutting money, supplies and books are low. Couple that with a big group of Republicans that say really ignorant things like charter schools do better than public schools. (Astounds me that people say this. THey can look and see they don't!). I mean with low pay, inadequate materials, people saying they don't do a good job, why would they want to come to a public school in Tucson? I love the public schools. I support them in any way I can because I know how hard they work and are maligned by people who are greedy(using money from charter schools for profit and sometimes fraud) .
Vince of darkness(appropriate name to hide behind).... there are no unions in Arizona to speak of. Remember ... we are a 'right to work state'? There are unions who have no bargaining power at all. What state do you live in or are you really that ignorant? Teachers have no choice... teach or live elsewhere. Republicans also shoot themselves in the foot by creating an education system that is 48th in the nation. What companies would want to move here? Some people REALLY care about children and education and it is very evident Arizona primarily Republicans do not. Prisons are valued more by the those that keep getting elected and maybe most of the people ??? I like Senator Steve Farley a lot... he does really good things but he is the only one I can think of right now. Let's get dark money out of elections.

Who was Dean Short? and if you don't understand the significance of the question you have -5 pts.
Well, there is the law and there is justice, the meting out of the law.
I can't see how justice is served by tearing a mother from her children, her husband.
I just don't see it
What a waste of time reading this teachers union propaganda. Ooh one hundred per cent "likes" too.
Maybe I will catch you on talk radio again some day Tom. This is just boring.
The NFL relies on grade school, high school, and college football players to fill their rosters. It starts early, like advertising. Get them hooked early. Parents particularly fathers are living their unfulfilled dreams through their sons, and sacrificing their futures. On the Frontline mentioned earlier, the NFL denied any connection with concussions and football for a decade or more. It's big money that rules this country, it's sports, it's economy, entertainment, politics and political leaders. If a working class or poor kid plays and excels at football, he may qualify for scholarships, but he may be a victim and eventually pay with his good health. It's time for a change.
"...Just a one block east of a Tucson Boulevard."
Amen, PVK. Amen.
Gosh, Jim, you mention McSally, Miller and Kozachik but none of them has done a THING to help sex trafficking victims. AND you ignored the one politician who actually has pushed such a bill onto the AZ House floor. Have you been sleeping at your desk again?
