Thanks Irene, I have got a ton of interest and support from this article! For those who are reading this the first time, please contact me if you would like to donate but also understand there is a slight lag when dealing with a sudden increase in logistics! You are welcome to volunteer or throw ideas at me as well.
Tom, I remember you as being in shape. But that was years ago (okay, decades). Yes, I am in the worst shape I've ever been in as well. It comes with age I believe. But I do walk a lot: at least two miles a day, back and forth from the subway. No, I'm not in Tucson, just a little further east. Okay, way further east. A long way from San Fernando.
It is a neat place to climb. Talk with one of the archaeology professors at the U of A to get to see the pit houses and rock art. It is worth your time and effort.
Try "the Hill" after a summer "monsoon" rain. Higher humidity, much the same heat, and when you get to the top, EVERYTHING is covered with other-wordly crawling critters. Enough up there to not allow sleep, even after the hike!
Why didn't T.W. cover the concert by La Santa Cecilia at the Rialto on April 9th? Can you keep astride of upcoming groups in the Latino community? Thanks. How can I let you know next time they are in town?
What a weird response. First, why wouldn't Desert Diamond respond with one of their own employees. Second, this article doesn't respond to anything that was in Pedersen's piece. He never said Desert Diamond was a bad corporate citizen. He said their casino and entertainment sucked. I guess this response shows just how inept they are.
'three-fourths of an eternity' will almost get you to the 'window' too - bring lots of water...
Is it any suprise that the patient number is low when the cost from AtoZ (that was humor) is so high? Who is allowing the State to charge 150.00 for a MMJ card.Who really wants to pay 10.00 a "joint".This is after you shelled out another 150.00 to a doctor. What is with this scheme tying the MMJ program to the Food Stamp program? (you get 75.00 off if you get Food Stamps).I do not know if you still get the 75.00 off if your Food Stamp application is rejected. The problem is very clear. The cost of the program is just too much for people to bear.I tried to get the fee waived for low income disabled people but they quit answering my emails.I am one of those "chronic pain" people.I recieved osteomyelitis from the operating room at St, Marys hospital and a suregon had to cut away a lot of my neck and back (osteomyelitis is MRSA of the bones,in the case of an adult it commonly attacks the vertebre of the spine). At least St Marys could spring for the cost of my MMJ card.
Also the fact that they do not give me a receipt after my purchase. I have gone there about 5 or 6 times since it opened to get meds and I never get a receipt!
What a great editorial. I hope you've sent an enlarged laminated copy to the "FLAKE".
Dear Editor: after reading your piece, and the posts above, I shall not attempt any civil discourse, none will get through. Everyone's mind is deeply sunk in their own point of view, but I do offer some thoughts as I see it: Gun owners fear confiscation, fact. It will never be successful, fugheddaboutit. About as successful as the "war on drugs" I calculate. Passing more laws? Ok, but the idea is - effective"Will they CHANGE anything? Lastly, let's say you kill one of the Bill of Rights - 2nd Amendment. If that happens, any thought to what's next on the "slippery slope?" Like maybe - the First Amendment? Like your sacred right to "flip off" anybody you feel like? Then, you may be in danger if you do. Adolph took that away, mein fruend.
If more businesses would hire young people for part time and summer jobs, they would learn how to get along with folks and be a team player.
I spent 32 years in one job and learned first hand that those who have no clue to learn people skills and how to work with others eventually get surplussed.
That first job may teach you how to work with others and get along with your co-workers. That is a very important skill and it also teaches people how to keep schedules and report to work on time.
Ethics learned in that first job carry on to make you the person who is qualified for those higher positions.
Been there, done that. After a career of over 40 years working, I now teach. Too many folks just want to get by with the least amount of effort needed.
Good editorial mayor.
@cempiremtn would go to war against his/her neighbors to keep a gun.
Exactly. The madness of gun ownership: destructive power without a point.
Gee, ZKen thanks for telling me how I should spend the money that I earned by my own efforts. Perhaps you should spend your money on a visectomy. It could only help.
Aw, comon Renee, cut college students some slack. This is probably the only chance they'll ever HAVE for luxury.
The NRA is run by the "Gun Hole" Chapter. What are the "qualifications", to belong? Well, the the first is a deep seated inferiority complex. The next is greed. The third is no sense of proportion. Just think of all the things you could spend $1500 dollars on. A vacation, food for your animals or children, a refrigerator, car repairs, martial arts training, clothes, donations to programs for Military amputees, wives and children of firemen, police, first responders, mental health evaluations for their own children, etc. etc. It is all about justification. Justification for all the wasted money spent on "Assault weapons', that are useless in most excusable defense situations and which serve only to bolster a cowardly sense of inadequacy. Buy yourself a "golden Gun" for a golden future day of super heroic self delusion. Of course, there is the last and greatest group of "Gun Holes". These are the people that make mass kill guns, buy the people that vote for their greed, and the people that pander to and sell to the selfishly deluded who feel that they can't defend themselves with less than ten bullets. There you are, heroically mowing down the hordes of burglars, trespassers, neighbors dogs, teenagers, commies, tax collectors, immigrants, atheists, proctologists and all others who seek to invade the nether regions. What do mean honey, I'm a donkeyhole? If you had just bought those drum magazines we could have got em all!
cempiremtn, Civil War? Really? Which side are you on? The second Amendment is so out of date it needs to be Amended.
Old Man.... I will license my guns just after the last Criminal does....How bad do you want American Citizens disarmed...enough for a civil war? Really?
One day, All people will be required to have a license to have a gun and possibly have to have a liability insurance to go with it, just like a car.
That will be a great day!
