What the University of Arizona did to this research physician is one of the worst hatchet jobs I have ever seen. The U of A is NOT into research but has its base in Politics/money. They have no interest in scientific truth but do have a great interest where the “next grant is coming from”. Now that is the main aim for the U of A. Money and Politics Not science.
Many of the University nobility are no better than church elders who threw Galileo into the town of Milan for life when he said, “The Earth was not the center of the Universe.”
The fault is that they think they are modern and scientific; they are Not. Marijuana research is at the very cutting edge of medical science. The plant and the chemistry within will bring many medical discoveries in the days ahead. The U of A will be left in the dust as other investigate the medical properties of this plant.
The U of A owes this physician a formal apology for their affront to her and their medieval mindset. A pull of the strings in Phoenix will set the U of A dancing like a puppet on a string.
Most won't Brian, but that's OK. They really accomplish very little anyway. It only takes a few believers to move a mountain.
It will happen. Just going to take some time. I have watched this sinking ship for a good 30 years. If you criticize it, (to improve), you get attacked from every side. There is way too much money and power concentrated in this.
Why else do supporters become so violently angry?
Thanks for all the insults. But I can read. Try reading one more time his #1 in the statement. There is clearly yet another problem with this failing city government.
And now add to that that nearly half of the intersections/roads in tucson have some kind of sewer/cable/paving project that has locals skipping local businesses.
It is nearly impossible in this town to move a small business forward.
Why is that?
Thanks Rat T I just hope people are looking at what I've said , this majority needs to be recalled
Many men and women are in Prison for no violent marijuana use. It's time to stop this foolishness as the ones who profit are the lawyers, legal system and the For Profit Prison system. Only in America would someone try to make a dollar of sending people to prison. We as a society are sacrificing our young people on the altar of the "Drug War". These young people are our sons and daughters.
The war on Marijuana is a War on our own People and Youth. The people who need to hang are the ones who came up with this stupidity and insanity. Thousands and thousands languish in Prison for absolutely nothing but using a harmless garden herb. Legalize Marijuana immediately.
Only "the Government" wants to destroy your children. Notice, I said "the Government." Not Our Government. Register to Vote and Vote. Take the reins of power out of the lunatic fringe who inhabit the Arizona State Government.
Give people a raise. Working people will just return their pay increase back into the economy. Poor and starving people make for a weak and failing America and a hard times Tucson. Like an Uncle used to say to me, "Some Businesses have NO business in business."
I have been smoking Pot since January 1969. Approximately 45 years. Every time I see a physcian they say things like, "You have taken very good care of your Health." In the same span of time, the people I knew who used Alcohol and Tobacco have expired due to accidents, cancer and automobile accidents. They have returned to dust and the Pot users and still with us................. Also, Pot users are some of the most creative people I have ever met. Many are top computer coders and top engineers , etc.......
I smoke Marijuana and I am NOT ashamed of it. It is safer than table salt............... It's way past time the Government, notice I said, "the Government" not Our Government stop the witch hunt and the persecution of Marijuana users.
Alcohol is good and Pot is poison? Typical behavior for drunks and booze fighters. Go down to skid row and ask how did you end up here? The answer will not be Marijuana smoking. Also go to the Pima County Morgue and make an inquirey as to how many poisoned Marijuana users come in? Then ask how many drunks and drunk drivers end up in the Pima County Morgue?
Australia already did this years ago, look it up on line, still have Mickey D's, sky still firmly in place.
You forgot to say where Ruger is available. He is really cute! Humane Society? PAC?
As long as immigration rates are at record levels, wages will continue to be low. That's the law of supply and demand.
If they don't like their salary, work to get better and more valuable. Quit the whining. It's that simple.
I'm really surprised at both the article and the comments. Without a minimum wage that makes sense, consumption goes down. Without consumption (preferably endlessly increasing) the whole system collapses. To put it into simplistic language that the reader and commenters can understand, if no one can afford to buy anything, no one can afford to make anything. Get it? Sound like a good future to you all? Not me. Of course, if you allow for endless corporate greed and the Godhead of Profit to continually rise why...you end up with what we have--the most income-unequal first world nation on earth. Really something to be proud of (NOT). The Law of Demand leaves profits inviolable and we are already living what that looks like.
My thoughts exactly Edeiwmurk, this article is based on logic. Forcing a higher minimum wage will not have the intended results (except for the unions who have their wages scaled up from the minimum).
I am a single mother with two daughters at Basis Chandler. My eldest started as a 7th grader the opening year. Prior to enrollment was tested but not offered/placed into gifted program by district, however, she's managed to achieve high GPA (honors)in rigorous even AP programs. Success story, she learned to work hard, value academic success and as a result has credentials that may create opportunities for her. I've never seen her put in extreme hours as mentioned she is diligent. As a single parent my bandwidth is limited, the majority of my life force is committed to providing to sustain life with basic needs, so my parenting certainly can't take credit for driving her academically. I'm grateful to have had access to Basis education opportunity for my daughters. as far as a creing/attrition in our case we must move as our rental has been put on the market and transportation may not allow us to stay next year(no budget for bussing) variables.
Re: childhood comment above...Our idealized American childhood is dramatically priviledged compared to most of the children on Earth. Puts out a lot of soft enitled youth. it's silly to suggest providing opportunity & environment to excel in youth is going to rob them of a childhood, thats nonsense, My girls won't have the luxury of an inheritance, college savings or safety net of family wealth they need to be prepared as possible. A little extra homework is not going to hurt , trade off for a solid foundaton.
IMO this fear/negativity is unsubstantiated ...not my experiences. Staff at Basis wore many hats in getting new campus up & running. The incident described in San Antonio could have happened at any school not a"frightening" characterization.of environment. Basis educators know what they're doing & get good results to prove it.
*gasp* An opinion piece in TW actually making sense? What is this world coming to?
Losing out sense of humanity? Losing our nationality.
The difference is, immigrants came through Ellis Island, legally. You are comparing apples and cacti in this matter.
Blue bell just recalled all their products.
Um... let me get this straight: The Range posted this on behalf of a private investigator, who, on behalf of an anonymous client, is investigating an incident from a month ago that involved the police?
Adults living alone really do need that increase, and then some, especially if their minimum wage job is not full time. I'd be interested in some recent data on that. What proportion of minimum wage jobs are part time, with erratic schedules an employee can't plan a second job around. Those people are really in trouble.
