Re: “Phoenix Union High School District Makes a Statement

"Then Herod sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under." Matthew 2:16

Legal, according to the law of the day.

There is legal, and then there is ethical. There is legal, and then there is humane.

How many cases throughout history have there been where the law has been out of alignment with what is just? It would be impossible to list them all.

What makes anyone think that American law is more immune from error than German law during the 1930s? Than the law in the USSR during Stalin's purges? Every society has to balance respect for the law with trying to discern cases where what is legal in a particular time and place may not be what is right. That's what individual conscience, for those who believe that such a thing exists, is meant to do.

Mark Harmon probably knows a loser when he sees one and ignored Tommy. Sorry, Grammar Maven but Tommy was never correct in his life.

Re: “Phoenix Union High School District Makes a Statement

Thank you, David, for highlighting this constructive statement of a commitment to protect and nurture every student in a diverse student body. From what I've heard, Phoenix Union has constructively applied the desegregation funding allocated to it to support student needs and achieve student benefit. The ATTITUDE of leadership -- evidenced In statements like this, in the quality of relationships developed with representatives of the courts and plaintiffs, and in how funds are actually applied in the schools or in central admin or in litigation -- is so important in an educational community serving the underserved. A constructive attitude rigorously focused on student benefit has been sadly lacking in some other districts applying desegregation funds.

Dare I think that that may be part of your point here? No, that would probably be too much to ask.

Re: “Phoenix Union High School District Makes a Statement

Hmmm. Too bad they don't choose America, the Constitution of the United States, the rule of law, not man.

Liberal indoctrination of our children is destroying our country. Americans must take back our public education system. Liberals, 'progressives', are exploiting our children for their own political ideology and to stuff their pockets with taxpayer dollars.

Re: “Phoenix Union High School District Makes a Statement

Phoenix Union High School District should be commended for the implementation of the following:

Jesus Christ is an instrument of peace. Where there is hatred, He sows Love; where there is injury, He pardons; where there is doubt and despair, He brings hope; where there is ignorance and bigotry, He brings understanding and tolerance; where there is sadness, He brings joy.

Jesus Christ taught not so much to seek to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is through Love that we are able to transform Ourselves and Human Society

Re: “Danehy

@What Happened to Common Sense?

Tom Danehy is correct. The "was" refers to "none", i.e. "not one", which is singular and which therefore requires a singular verb. Thus: "NONE" (not one) of those Midwest states WAS close enough..."

Re: “Danehy

Tom, that "whopper of a lie" about big city theft of votes can be checked out in 2012 Philadelphia for instance (you know, the city with the club-wielding Black Panther poll workers). Obama received over 90% of the 2012 vote in over half Philly's 66 wards, 99% of the vote in 7 wards and 100% of the vote in 59 Wards. In places like Cook County, Chicago and St. Lucie, Florida there were 10% to 30% more votes cast than there were registered voters. Those Black Panther poll workers had plea-bargained down to a misdemeanor when they were cut loose by the Obama AG Holder's orders.
Don't be nave, I've got more, but you get the drift. Hell, don't you remember our own RTA vote where the Elections Administrator admitted switching software to "flip" precinct votes. That was a billion dollar theft.

Re: “Danehy

"none of those Midwest states was close enough to warrant one."

Tommy Tommy Tommy, a plural(states) followed by was? Wouldn't "were" be more appropriate?

And Stephen Mnuchin is a dumb ass? Get your request for college refund completed in triplicate (3). They owe you one.

Denigration, meet yourself.

Re: “The Skinny

I agree the roads in Tucson are beyond bad and it doesn't help that for decades many have been used for storm drainage, but have you watched road repair projects in Tucson over the years?

They usually take place along the same stretches of roadway and involve using the cheapest means possible to cosmetically repair what is in essence a sprayed-on surface that couldn't standup to golf cart traffic. Then in six months, when the new paint has faded and the same pot holes appear, they start it all over again.

People want good roads but until someone has a plan that actually builds roadways to last stop with the new taxes, which is the point of my original post that local politicians have no new solutions or ideas beyond throwing money -- other people's money -- at the problem.

Re: “Danehy

And my vote should have counted for more than the vote of an illegal. That's what leaves me thinking she did not win the popular vote.

Let's all support showing pictured ID at the polling places and stop these mail in ballots. Too much possibility of fraud.

Trump can cut a deal with Walgreens for 99 cent pic'd ID cards for the poor.

And do not trade them for cigs or beer!

Re: “Danehy

You obviously dont know how the Clintons operate. And who does what for them. Donna Brazile eliminated her reputation trying to help them cheat. We will never know the truth about the vote count. But it doesnt matter. The Electoral College rules and he won it.

Re: “Danehy

I am NOT in favor of a recount; none of those Midwest states was close enough to warrant one. I trust the election process. However, denigrating voters in big cities is rather petty. The votes of the farmer in Nebraska and the guy who works at a fast-food place in Downtown L.A. should count exactly the same. And Bill Heuisler, please tell me that you don't really think that Donald Trump got more popular votes than did Hillary Clinton. He will get more electoral votes and will become President. My candidate lost and I will deal with it. But please don't repeat that whopper of a lie that the Democrats somehow stole millions of votes. That's just embarrassing.
