Re: “The Skinny

I was the first person Ally hired and I've known her for about 20 years. I've also been a friend, coworker (Honeywell) and employee of her husband, who's a great person, at Raytheon (twice). Based on my history with her, I can attest to Mr. Nintzel's reporting on this subject. It shouldn't matter if you're a liberal, moderate or conservative - a person with these behaviors should not be in public office. Decisions are made based on their perceptions rather than facts and they don't interact well with people who disagree with them to resolve issues. Most people would not want these characteristics in a public official or leader.

If the 37 year old man-child is What, Again, I'm sure that the "illegals", liberals, those with white guilt and those who sympathize with these groups were blamed for the downloading.

Re: “Editor's Note

"Now I'm wondering what happens with Clinton's election? As women, I don't think we need teabaggers to remind us, as they did with racism, that misogyny is alive and well in the good ol' U.S.A. I don't need that."

People (teabaggers you say, will reject Clinton as president because they are misogynists? I'm not buying it. The majority of voters who dislike and/or distrust Clinton, have varied reasons for their antipathy the least of which is her gender. For me, her responding to a question concerning why she accepted $775,000 from her friends at Goldman Sachs said it all: "that's what they offered."

The Clintons have accepted tens of millions from true misogynists, their wealthy donors in Quatar, Saudi Arabia and the emirates. Want to worry about sexism, start there. She is the luckiest woman alive, gets to run for the presidency against a loud mouthed fool. There are worthy women in the Democratic Party, all of them would be a better choice than Bonnie Darrow.

Re: “Endorsements, Part 2

Prop 205. TV ads are misleading, especially the vet (I'm also a vet) calling the need for Prop 205 to help his medical condition. I empathize, but there is already medical marijuana - which I think is great. 205 will not change his situation with respect to medical needs -- since his medical needs permit marijuana. The VA is a federal organization and, at present, VA employees cannot prescribe marijuana for any reason.

I'm disgusted that the a-hole in the White House was not IMPEACHED the first time he crossed that boundary that he signed on first Executive Order that excerpted the Constitution. He, Hillary, Harry and Nancy all be long behind bars. (PS: He is not nor has he been MY president!)

Re: “Danehy

Phil owned a building on Broadway and kept an office there. In the 1980s, my husband worked for a company that rented the rest of the building. Phil and my husband hit it off, maybe because they were both from Chicago, and used to regularly to go lunch together.

It was really cool to visit with Phil in his office and see all his gold and platinum records on the wall. We never thought we would run into such Chicago music history in Tucson!

Beneal. If I had the time I could spend all day ripping what you wrote to shreds. Try reading a history book before you make a total idiot out of yourself.

Re: “Editor's Note

Republican conservative extremist groups such as the Tea-Party ,skin-heads, KKK, the Senate and the House of Representatives did not spring up overnight. It's the same boiling pot that started with the Civil War and has been erupting with destructive tangents from that time. They are the tip of the iceberg that would in a heartbeat DESTROY DEMOCRACY because of their frivolous, insignificant , petty mental machinations. Republican conservatives live by an Ideology which never changes easily. Democrat Liberal Progressives live by a Philosophy which changes and adapts to new situations and stimuli.

Re: “The Skinny

One point of contention: Pima County residents have not voted for and/or endorsed many millions of dollars in the current county debt. Non-voter authorized bonds called COPS, or Certificates of Participation, are approved by the Board of Supervisors without any input from the taxpayers.

One may support or oppose debt financing, be appalled or apathetic about a billion dollar plus debt, but the fact is that much of the bond debt has never been approved by Pima County residents.

Just sayin'...

Re: “Song of the Day: 'The Rovin' Kind' (with Tucson reference) by David Ruffin

This is dope... As great as Ruffin is, he's still underrated... He could sing its smoothly, he could shout, he could take you to church, he could hit the notes, he had power, and that thing that you can't quite quantify thing that ALL the greats have -- the ability to HIT your SOUL! There will never be another...

Re: “Endorsements, Part 2

I voted for Heinz but mostly out of party loyalty. McSally has done a good job-as you point out. She has voted for some awful GOP bills, like defunding Planned Parenthood, but this is required by the GOP party leadership if she wants to get any backing for her legislative priorites-like the A-10 and supporting the military bases in her district. That's just the reality of how the system works. At least she never mentions social issues and doesn't participate in the culture wars.

Re: “Endorsements, Part 2

UA Law professor Engel is Kirsten, not Kristen but by any name she is one of the best equipped candidates to come along in years.
I like your rationale for endorsing Chris Ackerley but disagree with your decision. He's a Republican, will mostly vote with Republicans, is unlikely to be a force in their caucus and sending him back to the House makes it that much more difficult for Democrats to whittle away at the Republican majority. Southern Arizona Republicans in the Legislature are doubly negative because they can't or won't stop their caucus from interfering with local home rule of our city, towns and county. Please vote for Daniel Hernandez if you're an LD 2 voter. Loved your two lines on Andrea Dalessandro!!!

Re: “Fact Checks!

Get a clue it is not IF, Marijuana should be legalized

The opposition is HOW, it should be legalized 205 is not it

Washington tax rate is 15% paid by distributor + license fees to producers and processors and testers 10%. So if 100 paid by the retailer to sell the product he applies another additional sales tax of WA state average 11% all added up this equated to the product point of sale being 47%

With tax rates like this the DMLC will have a self fulfilling prophecy of it's value>>> to fight the very demon it supplies a vicious cycle.

We have been riding this tumultuous cycle of enforcement, protect the children, diatribe of false protection. Only to embrace it as value with prop 205

Cartel will soon go to all oils and edibles counterfeit packaging. Thanks to the dispensaries shatter smokable are for just getting high little medical value, almost all of the edible could be easily replaced with an oil. I really hate paying 45% tax on infused hot sauce or hippy dippy infused drink.

This whole proposal was written by dispensaries that have known for years that the Medical aspects of the operation was open to medical scrutiny and would not pass the tests.

So Dispensaries have opted to throw the medical aspects aside to supplying the addicted diminished capacity boon party recreational people while isolating market availability with heavy police enforcement.

This has heavy handed Governmental administrative panacea was written all over it. This is christmas a board of three really the other 4 members are just there to represent the people but dont have a vote LMFAO.

What a travesty has been done on the voter initiatives with this prop 205 this is really no different than saving payday loans.
With their charlatan slick marketing on how we helped so many families in that time of emergency need for monies.

One is to think if payday loans gave so much of what they collected to schools the 35% added interest would be helpful to the children.

Re: “Fact Checks!

The first time I saw a 'No On Prop 205' ad I was amazed at the out and out lying in it. It doesn't take much to debunk everything in it. 5 minutes on google should be plenty. But then, this is USA 2016 and many will buy it lock stock and barrel. Sad.
