To all who choose to look, for the last 10 or so years, the Chinese Government has been buying natural resources around the world with US dollars, in part to reduce their exposure to our overvalued dollar. Very clever and well considered, in my opinion, as they extract raw materials from their mines or oil fields throughout the world and sell much of the finished products to us as well as the rest of the world.
The jobs associated with refining the imported ores and the manufacturing of the goods stay in China. Once upon a time, this is what America did and it became great doing so. Now, because the anti-development, fantasy-prone Democrats force unreasonable rules and regulations on all we do (EPA; Obamacare, global warming, anyone), this is the past.
We, as a country, are destined to become a beggar society, because we let the liberals export the jobs we could have, in the false belief that they are saving the planet. The recent, absolutely crazy conference in Warsaw over the illusion of man-made climate change was one giant hug-fest for these weirdoes. Next, we, the taxpayers and consumers will be paying the bill for this stupidity because the Chinese will not foot the cash for the losers in DC.
Sadly, ChetDude is proof America has lost the war on drugs. How else could someone be so delusional?
I can assure you that many, many in central Africa, Indonesia and the Andean Highlands of South America are happy that ChetDude and his ilk think as they do, as they have good jobs mining copper. These are great jobs that we are exporting because of this type of illogical thinking.
Don’t think that the mining companies are in these developing countries because of lower wages or lax environmental laws, because neither is true. Wages are similar to the US in Peru, while in Chile they are higher than here and the environmental laws equally rigid and truly enforced. In central Africa, the wages are lower, but the productivity is so poor that more workers are needed to do the same job. No savings in that.
Wakeup Tucson; bring back mining and the many benefits associated with developing our mineral resources. Vote conservative in 2014 and throw the anti-development Democrats into the long unemployment lines they have so skillfully created.
I agree with you completely, and also you write some delicious rage.
I got to this one late, but the beauty of it is that everything I would've said against this golden shower giving child predator has already been said by other commenters. I give Ldonyo top props because I wouldn't have thought to mention what a hack R. Kelly is compared to a master such as Barry White. Love it!
I will repeat what I said so even you understand. The TPD didn't even know at the time of the fire that it was a portion of the Dillinger Gang. They found out later. This was the 1930's Tucson, they were not going to torch a downtown Tucson hotel.
Go and read the Smoke Signal Publication that the Hotel Congress sells in the lobby. It lays out the entire capture of the Dillinger Gang. Between you the writer of the bullshit puff-piece-suck up article on the Congress Hotel both of you would actually learn something.
shoot them gangman style,,,,idiot !
This might bring more 'democracy' and less 'tyranny' to the senate.
The prime focus of "parliamentary process" is to put in place, in a legislature, a
set of fix/certain rules that will allow all members to speak their view...and at
the same time allow the sense of the majority to prevail. And if we voters don't
like the outcome of our senate....we can always vote in new senators.
A real problem for all us voters is to ask the question of why we allow minority parties
to enjoy an unconstitutional power and control of our government (fed, state, local).
Our job is to find a way to break this unholy/unconstitutional tyrannical bond we
are under via the two minority parties. (Oh...and yes, the democrats and republicans
are minority parties.)
Thanks and Good Luck,

How did saguaro print leggings not make the list? Come onnnnnn Tucsonnnnnn :)
CCP wasn't anywhere near capacity, BTW.
JB Salmon's ACTUAL quote, if facts matter to you, was:
“Tell them... tell the team to bear down.”
Kanye West is truly a douche bag of the first magnitude. Amazing that anyone really considers this man a talented artist...
I checked out WOB last night with a couple of friends who were aware of the facebook/yelp exchange. We had a great experience. I usually can't stand TV filled sports bars (I don't like watching or listening to sports) but last night they had all the tv's muted and there was a really talented musician playing all kinds of good cover songs. Also there was an employee either on break or who had just finished his shift when we walked in and he was really helpful with suggestions when we told him what styles of beer we liked. They have petrus aged sour pale ale and Mead on tap! Mead on tap in Tucson! I couldn't believe it! I don't even think you can get a glass of mead from a bottle in any restaurant/bar in Tucson, much less on Tap! We had a few beers and sat outside for a couple hours and the employees were really attentive and super friendly. Which was really refreshing given the tendency for a certain hipster pretentiousness that is very detectable in a lot of the newer downtown businesses and is a reason I avoid some places downtown. The whole initial yelp/facebook flap is unfortunate but I don't think it's going to have a very big impact on this business in the long run. They have a great location, an amazing product selection-probably the best in Tucson, and the place seemed to be managed really well on the thursday night I was there, so I for one am glad to have yet another great place to enjoy in Tucson.
Embarrassing. The AIA is a laughingstock.
I wouldn't trust anything the Salvation Army says or does, until they publicly take responsibliity for injuring and nearly killing a 6 yr old little boy. Besides I've heard that they love to stock pile items donated and their people pick over items before they get distributed. When they are willing to be open and truthful, perhaps more people will be open with their pocketbooks.
Mark S -- like most of the cowardly dems I've run into here in Baja Arizona, I believe you've got it backwards...
I think the filibuster should be eliminated on ALL legislation in the Senate...
The main result, the increasingly Democratic base will be even more motivated to Get Out and Vote -- 'cause the alternative with a bat-crap crazy republican Congress is unthinkable... The Dems won't have the filibuster to fall back on in extremis and will have to influence policy the old-fashioned way -- vote in better legislators...
and WTF have dems been able to pass (other than a REPUBLICAN 'health care' bill, more money for war and the sequester) thanks to the filibuster's massive overuse by the obstructionist republicans...?
Don't worry bslap, as the water runs out here in the Southwest (thanks to global warming) and Tucson empties (the most affluent bugging out first)...
there will be PLENTY of copper in them, thar' hills -- all of those empty McMansions will be a treasure trove of metals and building materials for the 20 or 30 thousand souls that this region could possibly support without cheap petroleum...
Why are there any alcaldes for this child molester/sexual predator?
From time to time? It is more like he is an Asshat 24/7. He is just another reason to move to Costa Rica.
Most competent politicians keep up with the daily political views and bills, Guess she really is not concerned as we see most Republicans, as they just vote NAY each time. So they don't have to keep up or have any knowledge of bills
Her comments show us that Republicans and the Tea Party really don't understand how to be a law makers, They are not prepared for making decisions and key votes. Currently they vote NAY on everything. But voters continue to elect them to office. But these are voters that don't care or incompetent
