Re: “Legalization Props

I'm not surprised that teen marijuana use in Colorado has stagnated or declined since legalization took place. For many teenagers, doing something that is wholeheartedly approved of by the law and/or your parents can be boring as hell.

Re: “The New York Times is Telling the Story of How Tucson Became an 'Unlikely Food Star'

The article was about the UNESCO designation. The UNESCO designation has to with with the big picture of 4,000 years of food cultivation, the present relationships among producers and dining, food security and the work of the Community Food Bank. That's why Severson, who is far from being a mediocre writer came here. It was a good piece and because of it Food and Wine had an article on their website. This all brings attention to Tucson's culinary scene,

Re: “Zona Politics: Your Primary Election Round-Up!

Four weeks ago Steele published an op ed in the Star on the economic opportunities that exist in the Arizona-Sonora border area, showing an understanding of the issues involved that so far surpasses the simplistic phraseology of the incumbent as to be embarrassing to Colonel McSally. But recent reports of a shortage of fighter pilots in our military may point to the next step on McSally's career ladder.

Re: “Zona Politics: Your Primary Election Round-Up!

In reading the transcript of Zona Politics and previous comments, I'm surprised at the little attention given to Matt Heinz, who would make a fine predictable Congressman but I doubt if he would beat McSally. Victoria Steele will not be so predictable, is and will be more independent and has shown herself to be courageous beyond the ordinary. From the beginning of her campaign, Victoria has insisted it isn't about money, it's about commitment and passion, about a true concern for the common good, all of which she has displayed throughout her public and private life. Victoria Steele can win back the seat in which the Udall brothers, Jim Kolbe, Gabby Giffords and briefly Ron Barber served the people of southeastern Arizona so well over the past half century. With Victoria as her fall opponent, Colonel McSally's daily e-mail whining for 'more money, please' will perhaps nudge the local economy upward but will not buy her another term in the House.

Re: “Zona Politics: Your Primary Election Round-Up!

Thank you, Mr. Nintzel, for this show. We need to know as much as possible about the candidates in this important election.

Victoria Steele knows and cares deeply about the needs and values of working families, seniors and the poor in our CD2.

Martha McSally is a professional politician that is indebted to big money donors, out of state corporations and the Trump Machine--- her millions of dollars are raised from people that don't live here.

Victoria Steele has the governing experience and the values that are our values---she fights for the our interests in a way that McSally never has. Victoria has proved her loyalty to us. McSally has proven her loyalty to big money.

Re: “Zona Politics: Your Primary Election Round-Up!

You only need to hear Victoria Steele speak for 30 seconds to realize that she is a people-person with the ability to listen as well as communicate effectively. Victoria was instrumental in the passage of several bills while serving in the AZ State Legislature - strong evidence of the collaborative skills we need but sorely lack in the US House. She's the real deal - passion tempered with the ability to collaborate and get the job done!

Re: “Zona Politics: Your Primary Election Round-Up!

Victoria Steele stood out strongly and ahead in this discussion, as she does in her campaign and her values on issues. She is the only candidate who comes out coherently and compassionately on the many issues that we face in our nation. She has the courage to stand up and speak out and she will have the courage to do the good work that needs to be done. How much money one can raise is not what a moral and substantive campaign is about, and predicting an outcome on this basis is very troubling & reflective of what is deeply wrong in our Nation. Nevertheless, Victoria Steele is steadily raising campaign money and more importantly, strong endorsements from real movers and shakers!

Re: “Zona Politics: Your Primary Election Round-Up!

If you want to talk about which candidate can get things done, then you need to look at Victoria Steele. Her record in the State legislature speaks for itself. McSally is a one note Johnny with Davis Monathan AFB and the A-10 as her only positive note. That's important to the Tucson economy, but there are a lot of other important issues and she backs the Tea Party on every one. She's a protégé of Jon Kyl and it shows. If you want a candidate that understands the public interest, Steele should be your candidate.

Mc Silly has passed a lot of bills? In what Congress? She's voted on a lot of bills . . . like shutting down Planned Parenthood and the Affordable Care Act. Give me a break! McSilly's a total Koch sucker.

Re: “Food Insecurity

The government should feed these students just like the homeless. The parents are paying $25,000 for tuition each year and there just isn't anything left to buy food with. This is such an unfair country.

Re: “The Real Madness

I didn't leave out Nixon it is just the most common name the ignorant on this subject use to think they have knowledge and background. Use the Nixon name as a anti prohibition chant that way it will focus, NOT HARDLY !

I can go back to June 1971 Time Magazine did an article on Catalina High School "Most Drug Ridden High School in America". In the article they show the student body in the auditorium Class picture. You look at all, as they were billed at the time, anti social, drug infested, hair farming, tye dyed, mistake for the future.

Reluctant to even mention this is previous posts. Just a look at that I can see who became the who's who of Tucson. I see judges business owners, prominent Atty's, State rep's of all sorts we have all grown in Tucson and Arizona with Marijuana. The biggest fallacy is that it breaks down into political lines which it does not.

Re: “Congressional Candidate Victoria Steele Has a New Campaign Team

Victoria Steele is the type of individual we Need To Elect here in Tucson. John McCain and Martha McSally are the typical Republicans who side with the rich Republican donors, take their money and carry out their agendas, and heck with the individuals who live in the districts that require true and honest leadership. Honest individuals, which McSally and McCain are not, need take care of the pressing issues that plague our city and state. McCain and McSally should Never be allowed to be Bought by the rich ever!!!! Get Them All Out Of Politics, stop taking the bribes and run the race as it should be run. Fair and Square without the Payouts to the pocketbook!!!! Elect Victoria Steele, who will and can do the Job the right way. She stands by guiding principals that we can be proud of and she can be trusted!!!

Re: “The New York Times is Telling the Story of How Tucson Became an 'Unlikely Food Star'

Weeeelllll...I think you're both sort of right, JJ. Yes, the focus was very much on the UNESCO designation, but I thought there was a faintly patronizing air about the article, as if the writer were racking her brains wondering how on earth this utterly provincial little desert hamlet could ever have earned such an honor.

Re: “Media Watch

Sony Wasu was totally biased in her reporting on a student fight at Sahuaro HS relying on a "source" who was the mother of the "victim" who started the fight. Good riddance.
