Re: “Has Tesla Settled on Reno?

Yeah, well it might help if you could sell the cars in Arizona, but "pro-business" Jan, made sure that wasn't going to happen. Would you put a plant with 5,000 jobs where you couldn't even sell your products?

Re: “Seth MacFarlane and His Peculiar Distaste For Tucson

@ Sasha Charls
The riot at UofA after their NCAA basketball loss was not initiated by the students; rather, the riot was initiated by authority. University Blvd is the main road on campus that has eateries, shops, and hangouts which are perfect joints to be at during game day. People began leaving their hangouts on University Blvd after the loss and authority began harassing students stating an unlawful gathering. After an officer approached a girl for further harassment, a select few (nearly 20 students subsequently) retaliated and the remaining students on Blvd stood watching. Further note of idiocy by authority was about a month after the "riot" when a University officer drove into a structure intoxicated about 6x the legal limit.

Anyways, there are plenty of idiots at any college since newcomers get their first dose of freedom and plenty of students are stuck with a high school mentality.

In relation to this thread, when has TV (yet alone Family Guy) ever evolved from entertainment purposes to explicitly stating hard truths? Even public news and media will only produce half truths. People getting riled up from this show are a little more cynical than the rest of us.

Henry B.

A great article--worthy of your talents. Don't let them make you do the stupid stuff any more!

If anyone thinks Tucson was ever in the mix for the Tesla plant they need their head examined. We can't even keep our streets repaired. they used us (like grand Canyon College) to get a better deal with Reno. Just think what the neighborhoods and the Council members would demand if they were to really come here.

We deserve what our politicians have given us, nothing. All they care about is their office.

Re: “Has Tesla Settled on Reno?

While it would be great for Tucson if Tesla built their 'gigafactory' here, I wouldn't blame them for not wanting anything to do with Arizona.

The state legislature and Governor have gone out of their way to make sure Arizona has one of the least-educated work forces in the country, has the least-maintained road infrastructures on the continent, and continues to 'balance' the state budget by sweeping any and all funds due to counties and municipalities and leaving said entities to fend as best they can.

Nah! Gimme a good old-fashioned gas guzzler forever! Electric cars are about as functional for most people as a horse - and takes so much more of your "hay" for even less use!

Re: “Craigslister Seeking Topless or Nude Hair Dresser

Get a clue, TW... these aren't the type of stories which will endear a media outlet to many - except to low-functioning, lowlife riff-raff! Porn shouldn't be your goal. You are not supposed to be a gutter-tabloid. Naturally I am weirded out, underwhelmed and totally unimpressed. Gosh...

Re: “Huppenthal: "They Were Pouring Boiling Oil On Me In That Blog!"

Huppenthal thinks that throwing around the phrase "longitudinal studies" makes what ever he is saying "scholarly."

Re: “We Hope The New Spongebob Movie is Good

Actually, Spongebob lives in a pineapple under the sea. Spongebob to me is of the same ilk as Bullwinkle and Rocky and some other "kids" cartoons with the double layered humor and message, one on the kids' level and another for the adults.

When are they going to give you some real work at the Tucson Weekly. These stories are about the same level as the Enquirer.

The RightWing-Extremist, are always the victims. If the A__holes don't want to be criticized for their comments, maybe, they should think long and hard about throwing out abrasive vitriol. Micky Smythe

Re: “Bennett Speaks: "Every So Often We Kind of Stub Our Toe"

Bennett says:..."if we could grow at 6 percent or 8 percent a year over six or eight years, the almost $8.5 or $9 billion that's coming into the general fund turns into $13 billion, $14 billion, $15 billion." I ask when was the last time our state's economy grew at 6 to 8 percent annually for 6 to 8 years? Or any other state's, or the nation's? Just asking. Also asking where Mr. Bennett gets his economic views? It wouldn't be Timothy Leary?
