Re: “UA Proposes Tuition Hikes for Some Students; Make Sure to Share Your Thoughts on the Increases

Education was targeted 40 years ago for "job creation," and costs have spiraled out of control. Just look at what is spent each year by the US Dept of Education. I believe this year the budget is nearly $80 Billion. Are we getting our money's worth?

Re: “Excessive Force or a Necessary Move? Marana Officer Hits Armed Suspect With Patrol Car

Great job Officer. That was quick thinking that stopped a "suicide by cop" attempt by this individual. You eliminated a lot of heartache for a lot of people.

Re: “Republicans Freaked Out About Hillary Clinton Running for President & The Daily Show Thinks It's Hilarious

Lol! David W. I cannot tell you how many people have said to me(referring to Ducey), " I didn't know he was going to do ________". I said," Well he said he was going to do some of that so knowing Republicans, couldn't you assume he would do a lot of that?". Very poorly informed people put him in and want him out now that he is in and know what he is doing and going to do". The sad news is you must be glad about what he is doing. Very sad. You must even think the robbing of education funds is good. So really people, consider the source in whatever he says.

As for Hillary .... she knows a lot. I think she will do a good job with all her experience. She does know domestic and international policies. She supports President Obama's policies on negotiations and reconciliation. I think she may be a little more of a warmonger but heaven help us in that regard if a Republican gets in. I think the only Republican who has any brains is Cruz and he uses what he knows poorly. Lots of bad decisions have been made by smart unwise people.

Re: “A Reminder of Hillary Clinton's Stance on Central American Unaccompanied Minors; An Annoying But Unsurprising Response

What you are forgetting here, and so many others forget, is that it is precisely because of U.S. meddling that children and others are forced to migrate.

We are spending billions of U.S. taxpayer money to fund a failed "Drug War" in Central America, train and arm the corrupt military and police of Honduras and Mexico for what? All it does is add more fuel to the fire, and if you even bring up the fact that these policies need to be reevaluated, all you get is silence.

Foreign policy cannot be separated from the immigration debate.

Re: “A Reminder of Hillary Clinton's Stance on Central American Unaccompanied Minors; An Annoying But Unsurprising Response

I do not always like the decisions made or opinions expressed by the lawmakers I vote for . However, I step back and look at the big picture and I will vote for Hillary in a heartbeat over any Republican. I will let my opinions be known to her as I do to President Obama when I do not like something like the TPP. I think he will go down in history as a great president and I think he has done some great things. As for illegals and what to do about them? I have witnessed them brought to different states by companies for cheap wages so I have no tolerance whatsoever for people who cry about the illegals. Work on the companies and a lot would change. They do this at resorts, building construction companies and farms. I wish this country would quit being so hypocritical. Companies want cheap labor and people want cheap goods. Then they don't want them to have anything. We need reform but let's start with honesty. I do not know what to do with all the children sent here. Do we put them in foster homes? Where else would they go? Is that necessarily good? It is not easy.

To save money at the University simply get rid of the over abundance of middle level administrative managers. When an administrative position is created to manage a small group of people and then that person has to hire two assistants to manage the staff that they were hired to manage, no more actual work gets done but plenty of money flows out. People forget that the actual role of the University is education and research. All staff should be there to support that. Educators should be priority.

Ha ha ha is right David W--our state ledge lies constantly and has stolen more money from public education than you can imagine. And despite a lawsuit that ruled AGAINST them, not a single one goes to jail, not a single dime gets paid. Only in Arizona, where the frontier mentality still adds up to Joe Arpaio and corruption on a daily basis.

No one has a solution that they are acting on. Actively seeking and deporting will not happen. The status quo is that illegals come across the border like drugs, many different paths, and are deported only in the most extreme cases (somewhere between random and vindictive). So is the Taracena solution that the borders be open?

Re: “Letters to the Editor

To the person on the Tucson Earth Day Committee that replied to Mr. Kromko's posting, according your website SAEMS is a sponsor of this event. Not to diminish your and the committees hard work and the ideals Earth Day represents but Rosemont Copper Company and Raytheon Missile Systems are both members of SAEMS along with several other environmentally destructive corporations..
