Re: “"Martha McSally Is Not Answering"

Her fax machine is still working until everyone figures that game out too. Give it a go, it's free (I had bad luck with .doc files; you should print/export your .doc as a .pdf and it works like a charm):

Still too hard? No computer? You can fax by text message: Text RESIST to 50409

It's called New World Order Nathan. Trump knows how bad it will be for the US.

Meanwhile the PM of Iraq says that they may take back Mosul from ISIS. he says the progress is phenomenal since Trump took over. He blamed Obama for "not wanting to get involved." It's what liberal do when the going gets tough.

Re: “We Look Smaller in Boston

The nice thing about the Peters projection is that it demonstrates that Europe is far too tiny to absorb millions of immigrants from Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, who have enormous land masses of their own already.

Re: “"Martha McSally Is Not Answering"

The Republicans just want to eliminate anything that has the name "Obama" attached to it. Trump wants to do it because President Obama nailed the orange lying shitbag during the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2011 and Herr "Drumpf" made up his mind at that time to get even for being humiliated. Republicans spent 7, count 'em, SEVEN years trying to eliminate the Affordable Care Act and they did "NOTHING" "ZERO","NADA" for the American people during that time. They continued to draw their hefty salaries and receive the best HEALTH CARE in the nation. My concern is that the American voters are so easily duped by the Republicans because ,"You can fool some of the people ALL of the time" and it was proven during the 2016 election.

Re: “"Martha McSally Is Not Answering"

Rep McSally proves very tough to interact with. Voicemail boxes locally and in DC full, one is left with email, but that's only through her web site, using the "Contact" form. If you have the patience to wade through multiple levels of security to post your question? The result of my attempts to comment and ask questions about legislation?. I am entered on her electronic mailing list, which yields regular emails telling me what a wonderful job she's doing on every front.
At least it seems non-partisan. She's ignoring Republican, Independent and Democrat constituents equally.
She's apparently intent on building an "Anyone but McSally" coalition in 2018!

Re: “No Healthcare Vote Today After All

Neither party has any idea what to do about healthcare. Our immigration policy, which favors extended family reunification and a high supply of low skill workers to keep wages low, virtually ensures we will never have money for healthcare.
Both parties are arguing about who pays for healthcare. They should be arguing about how to make healthcare more efficient and affordable. They should also re-orient our immigration system to favor high employment rates for American workers , who will then be able to afford healthcare, and fewer unskilled immigrants.

Re: “Does This Mean We Can Call It McSallyCare Now?

As long as for-profit insurance corporations are really the ones in control with no public options, there will always be increasing rates no matter who is in office or who needs health care the most. I fault McSally and many, many others in DC for avoiding this central problem. Insurance companies want to keep receiving your premiums, but they do not want you to ever get too sick because it is too expensive. Worse - they are consolidating into a few huge monster corporations that will most assuredly lobby office holders and spend millions of that premium money instead of figuring out better care.

Re: “On the Theory and Practice of Bullshitting

Since we are talking about bull manure, education and truth, let's talk about some fundamentals. To define a school as a public school when it is closed to 99.6% of the public is an abuse of the language. It is not a public school at all, it is a district school and most districts are specifically designed to keep the poor and minorities out. So, ergo, districts are a racist institution. People who propagate racist institutions are logically ....

Since we began school choice in 1993 (I was the deciding vote on the education committee), most but not all schools in Arizona have become open to the public. The charter school movement made that possible. Yes, now we have the beginnings of a public school system.

The last piece of the equation is allowing students is to quit our bigotry and to allow students to not only receive their public education at district and charter schools but at religious schools. Then, every school in the state will be open to the public.

Re: “"Martha McSally Is Not Answering"

When she's up for re-election, she won't win. She damn well knows that the Trump health care and tax reform will hurt those who can least afford to be hurt, and help the wealthy. Other republicans stated proudly that they would not support the Trump health care and tax reform measures. And what does she do? Cower under her desk, hold no town hall meeting for her constituents. I'll not vote for her again.

Re: “"Martha McSally Is Not Answering"

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the regulations and economic incentives of Obamacare destroyed 3 million jobs. Very few districts suffered more as a result of that job stagnation than Congressional district #2.

Obamacare also put the entire nation at risk because it transferred responsibility for healthcare from business to government. The percentage of businesses providing healthcare coverage fell from 67% to 58% - a devastating burden that will have to be borne into perpetuity. And, it will get worse in the future.

In failing to pass these reforms, Republicans have put themselves at risk in the next election because the economy will not perform as well. In the end, it will be job creation that will determine their election prospects more so than health care.

On the day of their failure, the total US stock market fell a trillion dollars - a loss dwarfing the stakes involved directly in the debate.

The stock market is still up 2 trillion since election day but the margin of error is much lower now.

Re: “No Healthcare Vote Today After All

A number of years ago I was called to jury duty in an Arizona county most of you know. It was a murder trial. The defendent was accused of killing an older widow woman. It appeared he had a history of wooing, and scamming older widow ladies, and in his final episode he killed one, or so he was accused. I was in the jury pool with about 100 others. The judge and attorneys began asking the jury questions. There was a conference at the dais. The judge then announced they defendent was going to exercise his constitutional right to be his own representative. A noticeable groan went thru the potential jurors. I believe they all knew this was now going to take twice as long. In my own mind I knew he was going to be found guilty right there. Why? Because he was such a narcissist, he had been scamming old ladies for years with his self assured narcissism, he felt he could do it one more time. Luckily for me, I was excused. It was a six day trial, I followed it in the press. The jury was out two hours and found him guilty. The point of all this, is that a narcissist thinks he can BS anybody into anything, regardless of facts, process, , alternative interest groups, or reality. And he is truly shocked when his reality crumbles.

Re: “"Martha McSally Is Not Answering"

I got through to a human on Friday but all the aide really wanted was my name and address presumably so I can be on their mailing list in the future. That's okay; when I get the propaganda in the future I will remember that I didn't believe her previous mailings about how much she fights for women.

Re: “We Look Smaller in Boston

HumanBean, I usually don't add comments, but I want to correct an assumption you seem to have made. Your comment implies that the Boston schools replaced the Mercatur maps with the Peters projection. If you read the pull-out quote from the article, it states, "Teachers put contrasting maps of the world side by side and let the students study them."

Re: “Is Arizona Wasting Taxpayer Money When Drug Testing Welfare Recipients?

U Does anyone know the number that did not apply for welfare because they may of smoked weed , knew they would be tested so they didn't apply at all so these kids that already was poor an wondered where they would get their next meal from went hungry another day because the parents was scared to be tested .. Try using this money your wasting on testing an use it on treatment if for one reason or another drugs have pulled these families down to a point where they need help , Then offer them real help a treatment program while they get public assistance, not hand them drugs type of treatment , a Cold turkey stop counseling support an some real treatment with assistance. Only then can you say you helped these people kicking people to the curb because they use drugs don't help know one an eventually ends up costing in medical bills , jail an probation programs ,,
