Re: “Gov-Elect Doug Ducey's "No District Personnel Allowed" Education Transition Team

Hillary's gonna quit. It's gonna be Joe Biden by a nose.

Re: “Update: McSally Wins Recount, Barber gives statement

It's a sad day in Baja Arizona. We now have NO representation in Washington.

Don't lead him on. False hopes can be devastating.

Just take a look at Hillary.

Ron promised to finish the term and did more than voters wanted. Congratulations Ms McSally.

Keep DM alive.

Well, Davey, your resume might have been considered if your cover letter didn't start out; "Dear Dumb Doug" ;-}

Re: “Who Just Said "The Market Mechanism Just Doesn't Work" In Education?

Well, David a topic on which you and I remain in lock step in opposition. I'll say it here again that charter schools have become a place where it's more about the money than the education; I have seen too many kids come out of the program less prepared than their counterparts in traditional schools. But, the way for traditional schools to eliminate this shanker is a better prophylaxis, and I don't mean just more money.
Yeah, you might be subject to criticism for the opening paragraph but that is because this is your normal routine, negativism. It's raining outside right now but on the positive side I happen to know it will be a nicer day later on.

@aznemesis, I haven't tried it yet, but there is plenty of horrible Mexican food made by guys named things like Juan and Jose on the southside...the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Re: “Gov-Elect Doug Ducey's "No District Personnel Allowed" Education Transition Team

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - Tucson Unified School District has ended its financial support of an adult-education program connected with "Promotoras del Barrio," due to improper use of funding, according to TUSD officials.

Tell us again how the money is for the children.

It's a great story.

Re: “Gov-Elect Doug Ducey's "No District Personnel Allowed" Education Transition Team

AZ gave TUSD millions more, two days ago. They expanded administrative staff again.

Re: “Gov-Elect Doug Ducey's "No District Personnel Allowed" Education Transition Team

I'll be happy when there is no more TUSD administration, no more Grijalvas polluting and corrupting not just the schools and the teachers, but probably the children too! So yeah.. if privatization cleans that up, So Be It.

Re: “Who Just Said "The Market Mechanism Just Doesn't Work" In Education?

"parents have little or no financial exposure resulting from their choice"
No, they have far more at risk than simple money - their children. So I don't get the point.

Both charter and public school systems are poor. The basic foundation of applying assembly line mentality to education of children is so completely, 180 degrees backward in the modern world, that there is virtually zero value in any taxpayer funded schools of any kind except as a daycare service.

This is not to take one thing away from all the educated, hard-working teachers who strive every day to make it work; but school as designed today is so flawed, it probably does more harm than good except in cases where kids would otherwise spend the day without supervision or in abusive or dysfunctional homes.

Re: “Gov-Elect Doug Ducey's "No District Personnel Allowed" Education Transition Team

No, Ricky, the only ones who have had their way in Arizona are conservatives, who won't be happy until there is no more public education and all the tax money funneled into private, preferably legislative, hands. They're already well on their way and Ducey will make sure that there is nothing to slow them down.

Re: “Pima College will likely be taken off probation

The college, under Lambert's leadership, has made strides toward correcting serious issues from the Flores/Miles era. However, please note this is not a blanket endorsement saying there is no need for further oversight. The point is clearly made that the remainders of the Flores board could still revert to their former attitudes and lax behaviors which allowed the abuses which brought PCC to this present probation. The arrogance and disrespect displayed by Stewart, Cortez, and Longoria need to be corrected or they must be replaced. PCC is and should be a people's college, paid for by taxpayers and students, and open to all. Fairness in hiring and promotion, respect for all employees, and a genuine interest in TEACHING all students who register is a critical need.

Two. And I pay taxes for schools they will not attend. Money can not fix the mess at TUSD.

Re: “Gov-Elect Doug Ducey's "No District Personnel Allowed" Education Transition Team

Same question for Rat T as I had for Guissepe on another string--how many kids do you have in school?

This is very informative, as I think we can expect it to be in the future on this topic. When it comes to state-level stuff, it doesn't get much better than Ann-Eve Peterson, despite her gros attempt at total manipulation of local TUSD elections by putting up her friend who is similarly great at the state level but really NOT knowledgeable at the local level. But she certainly kept any other candidate from winning so I guess that was the point. Nonetheless, in the midst of the horrendous election season, Ann-Eve's little piece about Doug Ducey's role in the 204 struggle was brilliant and I personally look forward to more good and informative stuff on these characters.
