Re: “Guest Commentary

Thank you Steve! I will be sending a donation to Project Mariposa to show my support since they have been stepping up to the plate and doing what I refer to as "The work of Jesus" (AKA helping the poor and down trodden) in regards to the immigrant/refugee situation in Tucson.

Re: “Editor's Note

"So many are so overworked, underpaid and stressed that they have no time to give thought to primary elections."
Lazy and ignorant is more like it. Any one who can't be bothered to take 2 minutes to fill in their mail-in ballot (and maybe spend a few hours watching the News, reading the web, or newspaper to find out who to vote for) shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Re: “Ask A Mexican!

This column is interesting, in a car wreck kind of way - until you realize the letters are all made up and are just setups for opinion.

"and tried to cover both sides of a story without prejudice."
Well, that's definitely not Danehy. He sticks to his preconceptions, right or wrong. Gotta give him that.

Re: “Editor's Note

People have been saying that the city, country and world is coming to an end ever since the first memory of my Dad saying it when hippies grew their hair long.

If anyone can provide a specific time that this will happen, I'd like to plan for it.

Re: “Editor's Note

What has the republican party did since Lincoln? Herbert Hoover, Nixon, Reagan, Bush Sr., Bush Jr., great depression, Watergate scandal, Amnesty for millions of illegals ironic joke on the right wing who see him as their messiah, father to a former drunk who had his other son steal a election in Florida with hanging chads the former drunk son, the last one asleep on watch during 9/11, housing bubble bust, stock market crash, a huge unemployment disaster, yes stellar results!

Re: “Guest Commentary

Hey Ralph Hill:

Maybe the Republicans like Phoenix because that's where the jobs are. Or better yet that's where THEY create jobs. People like you keep bitching about the 2%. I have worked for the 2%. Have you. Because of their ambition, drive etc they have created the jobs that I have held. They treated me pretty good. So who do you work for?
The Progressive Liberal mentality has made it so our young people can't get a decent job here. To make matters worse idiots like Steve K and the Hispanic lobby here make it so the wages are low. You can't have an "Immigrant Welcoming Community" and wealth at the same time. Any city that has 40% or more Hispanic population will not prosper. And will have a lot of crime. Prove me wrong. Just read the papers tonight and see who does the crime.
All the Progressives in central Tucson want to do is seel each other tie dyed T-shirts and beads at 4th Ave, drink at bars in Downtown Tucson and debate who has the best Sonoran Hot Dogs. Good luck with that and getting a good job.

Just a quick follow-up, didn't anyone notice that I posted at 12:29? 2 + 9 = 11. 12:11? It's like time is counting down. To what?

Re: “Editor's Note

I really like Doug Ducey. Born in 1966. My numerologist says that's an important factor in why he's achieved greatness. 1 + 9 = 10. 66? 10 + 66 = 76. Yes, the year our country was founded. 1776. And of course 76 is the number of trombones in the parade. yipeedog.wordpress.com/

Re: “Guest Commentary

So you find one person that commits a fraudulent act and you paint the whole party with the same brush?

Ever heard of "cattle futures?"

Careful now. You bias is showing.

Crackers? Is that a racist term? You show no respect for the office.

I was thinking he was approaching Andy Kaufman level of disdain.

(And that's not Italian for 'dis dame)

It would be great if the stupid posts of Gurnemanz and Harlan Thomas just cancelled each other out, but sadly, they just make the world an even dumber place.

In other words, you're a miserable LEFT wing asshole who hasn't changed in forty years of writing this crap. You're a disgrace to your family, your readers, your employer and to yourself. You're a loser, Tom. A stupid opinionated ignorant loser. You write bile and seat of your ass comments each week. Get lost. You're a fool and a pompous shmuck.

There I fixed it for you.

Re: “Danehy

"Someone actually spoke those words to me and my response—quick and final—was something that rhymes exactly with "Duck that smother trucker!" I was puzzled by all of the hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth that followed the "botched" execution. I just wondered whether, while he was choking on his own crap, if he could see the faces of the two people he brutally murdered just because he had been a lousy boyfriend. I feel sorry not at all for that dude."

But why stop there? Perhaps we can draw the execution process out to say 6 hours and stream it live. If the murder was especially heinous (splitting hairs I suppose if you are a friend or family member of the victim) why not keep the condemned conscious while eviscerating and gouging the eyes from the condemned?

Danehy doesn't seem to grasp the concept of "cruel and unusual." His breast beating is even more ridiculous when he opines "They did mess up his execution; it should be fixed...
Oddly enough, if the state and/or country decided to ban capital punishment altogether, I'd be fine with that. It would probably be for the best. But, in the meantime, I've got no problem with our society saying bye-bye to that guy." Conflicted much?

As a pet owner, I've held too many of my pets as they were euthanized. The pain of watching them die was tempered and made bearable by their peaceful exits. As a society we can agree that even the worst of the worst deserve to be put down with dignity. Not for their sake but because we should be above prolonged experiments in state sanctioned killing.

It may sound trite, but we are better than that.
