Congressman Grijalva, SIR, you are on the right side of history on this subject! Please keep up the good work on immigration reform. We need to stop ripping families apart, those who comment randomly about our immigration laws have no concept of the reality on the ground. There are some people who should be deported but there are many who should not be! I am an advocate of individual freedom and limited government. What we have here is neither!
Much props to Murs' for bringing the much needed artisitic aspect to the city. There is in fact a lot of talent right here in Tucson and it should be highlighted...keep up the good work
I'm still longing for the day that Grijalva's first priority would be American citizens living in his district and not illegal aliens.
I did not vote for her since, from comments she made, it was CLEAR that she would not be able to work with fellow supervisors since she is too confrontational. This report sounds like I read her correctly, unfortunately.
Apologies! That was added in by editor folks after I turned in this post. I'll drop them a line and get that removed.
Great to see our name in a food blog Adam. We are excited to open the parlor for everyone in Tucson including those with vegan diets. Thus can we kindly request the removal of the word "vegan" as the sole descriptor as it's not completely accurate to describe our products. We strive for indulgent and healthy desserts that everyone can enjoy and receive the nutritional benefits.
Enjoyed this article... nice light reading on a cold winter's day! Thanks for enlightening me! I could go on but I think that's enough!
Will look forward to your next article...
Great piece Annamae! Thanks for putting into words what most of us feel about Community Days and City High School.
City High School
Proof that voters don't always know best. Pima County Dist 1 had an opportunity to elect a fine public servant, Nancy Young Wright. Instead they elected a conspiracy theorist. Elections have consequences, and we got Ally Miller.
"What you need to know, when I'm speaking as president of the United States and I come to this community, is that if in fact I could solve all of these problems without passing laws in Congress, then I would do so," Obama said. "But we're also a nation of laws. That's part of our tradition. … So the easy way out is to try to yell and pretend like I can do something by violating our laws. What I'm proposing is the harder path, which is to use our democratic process to achieve the same goal that you want to achieve."
Thus speaks the man who routinely signs executive orders or simply issues fiats to abrogate the laws-the universe truly loves irony. Mr. Grijalva has simply observed the process and knows how it works. For some, at least...
While I'm no fan of James T. Harris or his show and far be it from me to question Mr. Franzi's cutting-edge political prescience, I'm confused. He attacks Mr. Harris for quoting from a source "plagiarized" from "genuine news sources" (does this make the Star/Citizen plagiarists for quoting AP or UPI stories?), also alleging that this source imagines its material in the course of the sentence, then does exactly what he spent the length and breadth of his column attacking Ms. Miller for and offers no evidence of his contention. Who is the pot vs. the kettle in this case? Also, could someone explain to me why a Pima County Supervisor needs to travel to Israel on the dime of a right-wing PAC? Is Mr. Elias worried about Hamas setting up shop in Barrio Hollywood?
Ally Miller is undeniably crazier than a shithouse rat and holds about as much credibility with most of her constituents. But if you're going to attack somebody for making empty claims, you should avoid using the same tactic yourself.
This is the guy who supported the boycott of Arizona and put hispanic hotel workers on the unemployment rolls.
He should be out of work next election.
Wonderful! Keep up the good work!
Actually, you are incorrect, Mr. Grijalva. In one paragraph, you refer to "potential citizens". In the next, you refer to "American citizens". you can't be both at the same time.
Ok let me see if I get this....he wants to let all the illegals (law breakers) to stay because it is breaking up families....right? Well what is the difference when someone breaks the law and gets sent to jail or prison? They are being separated from their families....so does that mean they shouldn't go to jail?
I think maybe Raul should pack his bags and move across the border to be with "his people" and help them inter the legal way.
"cannot continue to witness potential DumboCrat voters in our districts go through the anguish of following the Law"
If God ever gave us a luminary in the style of Jesus, it was Nelson Mandela. They both were persecuted by their governments for the very same reasons. The only reason that Nelson Mandela survived is because the South African government at the time didn't have the courage to blatantly execute him like Jesus's government did. I can only hope that Nelson Mandela's life will eventually have a similar impact on the rest of humanity that Jesus did, and maybe, THIS time, we'll really listen, and do what's right!
"Johnson cited Sir Isaac Newton’s book on Optics, where Newton said that 'light is propagated from luminous bodies in time, and spends about seven or eight minutes of an hour in passing from the sun to the earth.'”
My question is, what kind of concept did Newton use, since it wasn't until Einstein came up with the Unified Theory of Relativity, that the speed of light was officially recognized?
Jammerk65, I sympathize completely!
