LD 9 Race Objective Analysis
Electing another Democrat State legislator from Pima County in place of ORR would only be a set back for our region! Dr. Freise and his Democratic Party handlers risk making the life of all citizens and elected officials in Southern Arizona (most of whom are dems) more challenging than it already is, when confronting State level issues with their goals. The reality is, it WILL BE, again, a republican controlled State House and Senate, thus Ethan Orr is the only elected legislator from the City of Tucson touching districts, actually in the room when the decisions are being made. The Democrats in their singular focus of winning, blindly sacrifice all of us along the way! Most, if not all, reasonable people who have business with the State, such as Pima County, COT, U of A, ordinary people etc. etc. have experienced the importance of Ethan Orr. Normal citizens who are not party ideologues will see through this regional mistake proposed by the Dems and the good intentioned Doctor will lose. Tucson is already marginalized at the capitol because of our one party nature let's not make it worse. Furthermore, when Ethan Orr returns he is a committee chair, Freise, just another vote that lacks the influence to effect much at all. Independents, moderates and Tucsonans in general should/will support having Ethan's voice working on our behalf, a voice that is RELEVANT, has common sense, is moderate in thought, thoughtful in action and MOST significantly within the majority caucus. Ethan represents a balanced approach to governance, he is a native of Tucson and a fellow Amphi Panther who has been in this community about 8 times as many years as Freise. He is courageous, fiscally accountable and takes a heartfelt approach to governance. Ethan, it seems like one party has a target on your back because you voted for the Medicaid expansion and one on your chest for their own reasons! LOVE IT! Keep up the good work, focus on right and wrong, focus on Tucson, focus on Independent thought, and let the petty party people be party people.
If it winds up with Ducey winning, then our choices will be Du-Du?
It's a shame this issue got caught up in the shooting in Ferguson. They are two separate issues. TPD has tanks and Hummers. Purchased with millions of dollars in drug money.
Can't afford to stop the flow can we?
That money could have been given to education.
Odd criteria you use. Personality? I'm not electing an entertainer.
Maybe that's what's wrong with whom the voters are selecting. They are looking to be entertained.
Looks like they have given up on finding the killer of Douglas Krentz too.
Are there any adults in charge?
Omg Jim, like I'm so happy you and Ally are talking again. totes adorbs.
Your video makes a powerful argument for why it would be a crime to devote any additional resources to our educational systems in southern Arizona. Thank you for busting the myth that more funding for education will raise student performance. "...we have to address the economic and social causes of poverty". David Safier makes the argument against increased funding for education and makes the point that until economic and social poverty issues are addressed in Tucson, schools will not make up the difference. Given this crisis of poverty here David, would you agree that doing everything humanly possible to bring good paying jobs to Pima County should be our highest priority, over nearly all other concerns.. for the children?
AZ AG Finds No Substance To Supervisor Miller
If Sen. John McCain would quit flip flopping on immigration reform people might take him seriously and vote on it. Why don't we use the laws that are all ready on the books?
If the left had solved any problems we could show those as successes.
But they haven't... so we can't.
I see this article has been haunted by the usual RW trolls peddling their xenophobia...
But let's expand the McCain/republican theory a little further, shall we?
How about no more wasting money on education until every child coming into the schools has at least a 120 IQ?
How about no more funds for Health Care until everyone's completely well?
How about no more road or bridge repair until the cars and trucks using the existing ones quit messing them up?
How about no more money for the military until the bloated one we already have makes everyone else in the world throw down their arms and surrender?
Ooops, I guess those already ARE the republican positions...except the last...
The lowest 25% of students in a poverty school draw almost exclusively from identified special education students and English Language Learners. Thus, the group with the lowest achievement, because they have learning disabilities or are not fluent in English, are expected to make the most growth. Their scores are counted three times in the overall formula.
Does anyone not on the payroll think this is a good idea?
Well she IS a wing nut, but she is our wing nut. I say keep her in office just to give the tax and spend majority at the county government a bad case of skin rash.
BTW, in the off chance that anyone that has to pay property taxes reads "The Range", a 8% increase in property taxes, without any vote by the taxed population seems a bit excessive.
When you open your tax bill next month you may want to have a stiff drink nearby.
I think voters should be given a choice if they want to expand these programs:
The total cost over this first generation of immigrants is estimated at a staggering $6.3 trillion in terms of total lifetime government benefits over and above the taxes the immigrants will pay in.
Average cost of education: Total expenditures for public elementary and secondary schools in the United States amounted to $632 billion in 2010–11, or $12,608 per public school student http://nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/display.asp?id=66
$12,600 X 13 years KP-12 = $163,800
In 2009 there were 6,000,000 kids belonging to unauthorized aliens.
6,000,000 X $163,800 = $982,800,000,000.
Good jam. I clicked on Funk & Roll afterwards and that's awesome. I just kinda hate the name 3rdEyeGirl. Sounds too much like Third Eye Blind.
Oh well, it's nice that Prince is still cranking 'em out.
Thank you Mr. Safier: Second Question:
And, without Standardized Testing, what is (are) your objective measure (s) of a States/School Districts/Schools Academic Programs?.
I hope it was a big hit. I just got done voting for Fred.
R.I.P. Butch, you will be greatly missed by many
Hey I know....why not enforce the laws we have?
