The sushi is mediocre but good and the hibache is as good as anywhere. Good variety of food and friendly atmosphere. I go at least once a month with my dad
Dao's Tai Pan is much better...give it a try!
Trendy place for no other reason than it's a restaurant in a modified house. Have eaten there over the past 25 years and the tastiness of the food has really gone down hill. It's a disappointment because there is so much potential. Maybe revamp with a new chef.
Worst Veal Picatta ever! If you don't know how to make it- take it off the menu!
How can I possibly take this review seriously when you have the runner up as The Blue Willow? The Blue Willow epitomizes cafeteria food and all it's lackluster possibilities.
Thank you so very very much, Tucson Weekly and Tucson Weekly readers and voters. We are humbled by your vote and send you so much love, from France to home xoxo
Gourmet Girls dessert and food are absolutely amazing. The restaurant is spotless, the food is made from scratch and the service is spectacular. Treat yourself today by going to this amazing place.
Congrats!!! -Jewel's Bakery and Cafe in sister city Phoenix!!!
Thank you Tucson Weekly! We are honored and appreciative to receive this award.
xoxo Susan, Mary and all our hardworking staff!
Foods OK, too many modern american families with screaming kids for me. Early weekday lunch when they first open if I go. Never again for dinner.
Do either of you eat eggs? Surely the factory farms those come from are far more horrifying than this: http://shine.yahoo.com/shine-food/dont-demonize-foie-gras-organic-producer-responds-animal-162200029.html
I loved Zemam's right until it gave me 5 days of what must have been cholera. I know it's good, but I will never, ever, ever go back there.
awesomev, while I'd hate to let facts get in the way your rant, I'd like to note that this particular category was decided by our readers -- as noted by the "Readers Pick" header above the blurb in question.
Are you kidding me?! Obviously you've never been to Loews Ventana's Blues Brews & BBQ Brunch! Awesome beers on tap, grills everywhere, Tom Walbank or George Howard jammng out! Blue Willows nice but cmon, best brunch? Hacienda is cool too but its no match when it comes to brunch! Get real and stop letting the advertisers tell you who to pick! See for yourself hackers!
You missed this one by a long shot... the best sushi in town is Sushi On Oracle. fair prices and always fresh sushi. The service is great too. check it out.
Maynard's is far better at doing seafood. Never going back to the dingy Kingfisher.
Worst place I've eat at in Tucson - it was so dark inside, who knows what I ate...and being from Seattle - this is not top shelf seafood. Someone at The Weekly must have stock in this place...never going back.
Had the Thanksgiving buffet at Hacienda del Sol last year. Just felt like taking a year off from the all day cooking. If this is representative of their usual fare I have to say we were immensely unimpressed, especially considering the $65 a head they were charging. The desserts were provided by an outside vendor, the turkey was dry as toast, a scallop appetizer dish was obviously previously frozen and was being kept at a dangerous lukewarm temperature. If this is the acme of Tucson fine dining than this city deserves the reputation people in Phoenix like to heap upon it.
I agree, nothing special. I had eggs benedict, which should taste really simple, creamy, and yummy -- and it wasn't a memorable version of those things. The side dishes were also pass-able, nothing with any great redeeming quality. The setting was cute. I don't mean to be a nay-sayer, but the ambience, although cute & quaint, was not open, or spacious, so I wouldn't feel to sit there for hours + when I went they were busy, so they didn't want us to sit for hours, they wanted to get rid of us so other people could spend money.
$20 all you can eat - outstanding! So happy I stumbled upon this one.
