That's beautiful writing :) I'm in Boston and we don't have as many of the vistas you have in the southwest. Will have to go backpacking there someday!

Agreed! Sabino Canyon can be a little busy on the weekends, but for an easily accessible hike...it can't be beat. From personal experience - bring plenty of water if you're hiking the phone line trail then back on the road. I found a couple of books at the gift shop very helpful with local plant life: Plants of Arizona by Anne Epple (for plant ID) and if you're into ethnobotany and local edible and medicinal plants go with Charles Kane's Herbal Medicine of the American Southwest and his new one, Sonoran Desert Food Plants...nice photos too!

Backpacking requires overnight camping. There is no camping in Sabino Canyon. This confirms my suspicion that despite their big talk, Tucsonans never actually go outside to do anything.

Kirsten rocks! She is always cheerful and encouraging, but at the same time, seriously manages to kick some butt! I have been in her boot camp for over 3 years, and I love every minute of it. Congratulations, Kirsten!

WOW!!!! Was seriously surprised by this! My boot campers tell me I'm awesome all the time. But now I think I believe them! Since I don't really advertise to keep my prices down, I really appreciate this!!! Thank you!!!!!

Detour to the BEST echo in Tucson. North of Kinney Road about 1/4 mile ,on Tucson Estates Parkway just past Rafter Circle. Turn left into the dirt parking lot for the trailhead entrance. On Fri., Sat., and Sun. the gun range is open in Tucson Mountain Park and the 5 or 6 echoes off Golden Gate Mountain ar fantastic.
