Re: “Meals on Wheels

Just returned from a road trip where native foods carts and trucks perambulate on rural roads; they are mainstays of their small communities. Corn stew, local breads- just delicious. Thanks for this resource listing on our Tucson trucks.

Re: “Calories of Concern

@MaggieM: Indeed. Somehow the prefix didn't make it online. Thanks.

Do you mean eat UNhealthy food or go hungry?

Re: “Evolution of eegee's

Shana, actually, you can have Eegee's shipped to you, if you truly want it badly enough. My daughter was dating someone from Arizona while she was a student at Utah State University. He sent her a big bucket of Eegee's on Valentine's Day! She kept it in our freezer for months, but we weren't allowed to touch was HERS :)

So you think of yourself as a great pastry chef?

Re: “Evolution of eegee's

If you read the article, it tells you what the drink is made of. Sugar, water, and natural fruit juices. That's a pretty small list of ingredients.

Re: “Evolution of eegee's

Responding to Featherkittie, Eegee's IS GLUTEN FREE!!!!! My wife, who has Chrone's disease and is gluten AND lactose intolerant, CAN and DOES have Eegee's all the time.
All of Eegee's slushies are free of gluten. Thought you would want to know.
Mixing strawberry and lemon is the best!!!!!!

Re: “Evolution of eegee's

I have to agree with the other person posting about the ingrediants of these drinks. Yesterday I wanted to purchase one at the Sonoita horse races when all around me were raving over them, however the people selling had no idea, although they were wonderful about trying to offer an answer. I have been searching on here since I returned home yesterday, even wrote an email on the Eegee's website, and cannot find out if they are gluten free.

Re: “High Spirits

I'm so happy to hear that somebody is finally going to bring Khortytsa to the United States. I still have a bottle of Khortytsa Platinum I'm milking that I brought with me from the Republic of Georgia. I truly cherrish it and only take a shot of it on very special occasions. If I was able to go to the liquor store and pick up bottles of Khortytsa it would be like walking into heaven. I hope that it takes off and and knocks smirnoff and the other "popular" vodkas down a peg or two. Hands down best vodka I have ever tasted and THE best for straight shots.

Why pay less when you can pay more.

Re: “Before Organic Was Cool

I noticed that many things here are way overpriced. $2.50 for one avocado. And the oddest employees and patrons on the planet. Weird!

Re: “Before Organic Was Cool

I too remember the days of picking up your Co-op orders behind the building.
What a concept. That that co-op still thrives is a testament to the hard work and vision of the founders and to the spirit of the Tucson community.

Adam, the title makes me feel old. Once upon a time I lived on a farm where we were
organic and mostly sustainable. We grew most of our food, traded for other stuff, tapped maple trees for syrup, milked goats, raised chickens for eggs only, I even sewed stuff (not very well mind you.) but now when I hear the terms organic and sustainable I have to laugh, I think it's great but really nothing new. Of course, I don't live that way now. I'm a little lazy these days.

Re: “Sustainable Scoops

Congratulations to Isabella's Ice Cream! Great idea and how empowering to do as much as you can to be sustainable. Much success in your future expansions.
