Is there going to be a new column this week?
I hope that Tom McNamara continues his stint as the host of the new Arizona Illustrated program. He's definitely brought a level of professionalism to that show that was sadly lacking in the previous programs.
I worked with Steve Ryan when he was starting out at CNN. He was fresh out of school. I saw someone who cared about his profession and a quick learner. Glad to see he's found a home in Tucson!
So, Steve Ryan sits next to Kristi Tedesco? All week, Kristi has been somewhere else, Tom is flying solo, and I have yet to see Mr Ryan.
I hope Ryan brings a basic knowledge of place names with him from the Center of the Universe.
So when is the last hurrah 4 Tom?
Thanks for the KGVY nod, however - you listened to Groove which is a Journal Owned station and not KGVY, not a bad sound on Groove but check out 1080AM, thats KGVY in Green Valley
I agree with you on Bill Buckmaster!! He is a real professional journalist! We are fortunate to have him living and working here!!
Gee, fibbed a bit when Arbitron asks if or anyone in your household works in media, didn't you?
Ratings suck, and now you know why.
"Media" watch seems to be limited to broadcast media for the most part.
I miss the good ol' days, when we used to hop in the car, turn up the radio, and listen to music, not the incessant jabber of pinheads.
To be fair to John, it's not like there's a global system of interconnected computer networks allowing you to look it up.
It's John Philip [one L] Sousa [S, not Z]. Hate his music, but at least get his name right. In J-school, wouldn't a misspelled name--and a well-known one at that--spell this assignment with an F?
This may be your best column ever. Like most others I have always wondered how these "ratings" are determined. Will we learn which stations you endorsed next week?
I know you only cover Tucson Radio, but do you know what happened last Monday at Phoenix Progressive Radio KPHX 1480AM???? With out notice, they dropped live Thom Hatmann,Alan Combs, ect with out-of-state Sports!!!!
hope those two guys who did basketball pregame and postgame on 1490 last year will do it again this upcoming season...
..."Everyone in this area loves funk music"....
Definitely need to do more research, Matt. Or change your definition of "everyone".
Good luck. Good to see that there may be some hope in the battle against iPuke radio.
People still listen to the radio? I'm shocked.
Give them something to listen TOO, and they will and do!
No, they don't. :(
Nice to see Mike Christy and Randy Metcalf win awards. Two great photographers and standup guys.
