Well... "trendy" maybe in the sense of lowering the rent and offering less expensive items. Which is what Elle did recently. In this economy, how many high- (or even higher-) end restaurants can survive?

The existing Acacia is just about perfect. I hope they don't muck it up trying to be trendy.

If you're looking for Chinese, Dragon Palace at Broadway and Camino Seco is also open all day.

SecretlyCanadian: The Cup Cafe is open on Christmas (breakfast and a prix-fixe deal at night). The new Elle is open from noon to 8 p.m. The restaurant at Lodge on the Desert is open pretty much all day Christmas day. Lotus Garden and Pastiche Modern Eatery will be open, too.

Not only was there nothing wrong with the columnist giving a shout out to the owner of Cafe' Aqui, but it was kind of him to do so. I hope he continues to share heartwarming stories about what is going on in our community.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what will be open besides the resorts on Christmas Day? I just called two Chinese restaurants that will not be open. Thanks!!!!

You people all have way too much time on your hands... the guy gave beans in a generous moment, Mr. Borowtiz simply shared the generosity by acknowledging it....nicely done. For the rest of you cranks, why don't you go out there and volunteer some of your holiday time and make the world a nicer place....

He never asked that his donation be kept anonymous. What I should have said is that he donated it to me straight away and without expecting any return whatsoever for his generosity. He said he wanted to help the homeless people he saw walking in front of his shop, and told myself and several other people in attendance that he wanted to help in any way he could. Am I only to report what I see when everybody knows I'm collecting information for my column?

"and Ray's actions were meant to be anonymous." This is what Adam Borowitz reported. If Mr. Ray wanted anonymity then it would seem to be disrespectful and unethical to write about his gracious and charitable act. The issue is simply that Mr. Ray, according to the story, did not want to be publicly acknowledged. No stone throwing here, simply an observation. I believe that the Weekly embarrassed Mr. Ray by publicizing an action that was meant to be private.

OOOOOHHHHH....Le Delice is opening!!! Again. For the 5th or 6th time. I mean what is going on with this musical chairs closing, re-opening game? The place is an unfriendly dive. Over-priced, odd food, weird little strip mall location, pretending to be French, or Swedish or whatever...I'll pass, thanx. We are in a DEPRESSION restauranteurs!! Can you possibly accomodate that big reality?

We had a great time at Amarsi tonight. What a breath of fresh air this place is. First of all..they have a very professional staff here. This is quite uncommon in Tucson. These guys know their stuff and it shows. We had Thomas..again as our server. What a wonderful , caring and true pro he is. He patiently guided us through the menu and made several fantastic wine selections for us..all the while making it seem effortless and always with a smile...not an easy task on such a busy night. The food was VERY well done ..typical of where I grew up and the whole place made me feel at home. The fried calamari is a keeper as are the clams in white wine sauce. The veal was really nice..(Saltimbocca) extremely tender and well cooked.. My only reservation was that the two desserts we had..they were both quite dry...All in all a fantastic dinner again at Amarsi. We will be back at least once a week...

Hmm I would appreciate a good gastropub. Tried the new location of Acacia, totally different vibe and mostly different menu. They have regular and reverse happy hour with more beers on tap than before, mini sonoran hot dogs, a respectable guacamole, really tasty gnocchi and a killer view of the city. My only complaint is that where ever they store their red wine is too cold, it came out much cooler than it should be. It was very busy, so I hope that means they will be successful there.
