although my new record is a bit subdued, don't be fooled: mark matos & os beaches is a rollicking, noisy, psych-gospel, electric kool-aid kind of live experience. come out and see us at congress or red room. find what you've been been missing. the water in san francisco has eating my atom brain. stephen siegal: if you don not show up i am going to send DMT laced lazer beams out of my eyes, through the radio waves, and pierce your pituatory gland (or however you spell that). Not over budget Steven the construction budget WAS met, it just cost extra to redesign it in order to make a better bridge with more pedestrian crossings. but who cares about better if it is supposed to last for at least the next 100 year or so, right?

I have to say my Grandfather is the best. And thru out all the year I've known my Grandfather,I guess all my life. He's the reason I have five careers I can look back on and thank PopPop for giving me good advice for becoming a successful Barber Stylist,Bartender,Cosmotology teacher, Certified Nursing Assistant,Registered Nurse.

Ok that Harlem picture is pretty inexcusable. Why do white kids still think its cute to dress up like what ever they imagine to be "Indians"?
Its like they are spoiled brats who don't understand that its disrespectful to degrade, over-generalize and treat other cultures as if they were toys.
So no matter how great their music may be, I will never hear it. And if I see them on the street, I'll call them on their casual hipster racism. UGH!!

Just have to say the man can still put on a great show!The selections of songs was great covering a little bit of new and old stuff from both his solo albums and Bauhaus. Also, Peter, Jeff and Mark were very personable greeting the diehards at the end of the concert. Thanks for a wonderful show guys! Mom and son in Tucson.

Wilco update: In case you haven't already heard, Grizzly Bear, who were originally scheduled to play at the Rialto on June 18, the same night as the Wilco show at Centennial Hall, have been added as openers to the Wilco bill. Win-win, folks!

Point taken, Gene, but I wasn't out to "prove" anything of the sort. I certainly don't claim to "know so much more about that particular musician than everyone else does". My beef was that Stephen, who admits he is no fan of Cockburn's music, should have done a little homework before dismissing a world-class artist as just another "Canadian singer-songwriter"...."best known for his .... sorta-hits". I feel, and I believe rightly so, that Stephen did a great disservice to his readers. And wouldn't you have to admit that his biased, insulting and ill-informed comments qualify as "a particularly toxic form of chauvinism"?
