The Microbusiness Advancement Center (www.mac-sa.org) works with a crowd funding site known as Kiva Zip (www.zip.kiva.org). We have helped three start up businesses secure $5,000 no interest loans since beginning this in December. We will have put 25 businesses up for funding by the end of year. While correct the funding requires social media skills, it also allows investors from around the US and the world to put money into a Tucson based business. It is interesting that a person who works at the University teaching and happens to be on KUAT Channel 6 on Friday, who writes a story about a person who is also on the same program, featuring pictures of the person in U of A gear at the U of A campus. Another person quoted in the story also appears on the program. Was this about the Koz or an effort to pump up the ratings of Arizona Illustrated on Friday night? Also, when did the Weekly do puff pieces on elected officials running for another term? Never. It is about the U of A and Arizona Illustrated, not about Tucsonl.

Ward 6: Jasper the Marbled Polecat
Councilwoman Nina Trasoff has disappointed us too often for us to support her. Like Uhlich, Trasoff voted to delay an increase in bus fares and supported an irresponsible decrease in park fees that she now regrets, even though she's not doing anything to increase them—thereby solidifying the city's economic base—until next year. And to say that she mishandled the fiasco with the Rialto Theatre over the summer is a considerable understatement.
Republican Steve Kozachik has done admirable work developing new athletic facilities at the University of Arizona, but like Buehler-Garcia and McClusky, he's supporting the Public Safety First Initiative, which makes him far too irresponsible for us to support. Kozachik tells us he can identify all sorts of waste in the city budget, but he doesn't want to share that info with us. Well, we're not buying that he has a secret plan to balance the budget.
Unable to support either candidate, the Weekly instead endorses Jasper the marbled polecat, who arrived this summer at the Reid Park Zoo. Although a new resident of Ward 6, Jasper seems so adorable that we can't believe he'd make a bad decision at City Hall.

Steve Kozachik is not a dark horse anymore.
I was impressed when I first met him - as a guest of the local chapter of Democracy for America. He likely was the only Republican in the crowd. He had recently been elected to the city council and was participating on a panel to discuss taxation (the room was filled). Despite his lack of experience in politics, after the event it was Kozachik who the attendees wanted to talk to.
When it comes to analyzing a problem and doing the homework, there is no one in city government who does it better, agree with him or not.
I support him and his basic philosophy on governance (which is hardly iconoclastic, Mr. Mayor).
He is destined for higher office - which I cannot help but believe would be a blessing for his constituents.

Nintzel is unbelievable. Kozachik is full of himself and on a power grab. If there's a way to grandstand an issue for personal attention and political showmanship he'll find it. His core values revolve around the limelight, not around principles.

Who cleaned the guy up for the FULL page photo spread? Is the hair and glasses the current contrived look? At first I thought I saw Steve Kerr on the cover.

Ken, I mentioned a few times in the story that Kozachik was elected as a Republican, that he came into conflict with the Republicans, that he switched parties and that the people who once supported him now want him to lose. How is that not clear?

No mention of what and who helped Steve (Tea Party Koz) get elected? The Tucson Tea Party helped get him elected Jim. How come you left that out of the story?
It is relevant isn't it?
Before Steve was a Democrat, he was a Tea Partier. He spoke at several Tucson Tea Party events.
Shh, don't let the Dem's know.

Steve, nobody knew you but we did know that Nina Trasoff had to be gotten the hell out of there. If that sophomoric imp Antinori dislikes you, that's reason enough for me to vote for you again. As for Volgy's endorsement, run away - don't walk.

Sreve K should resign from the Council after pissing on a wall in public Saturday morning. He is NOT doing one thing for this City but make us the laughing stock along with Paul Cunningham, Karen Ulich and "Don't you know who I am"?

I guess its infuriating to the conservative Right Wing that someone who was formerly a Republican, and actually had a brain, has changed his party affiliation. Kudos to Steve Kozachik, he's a pragmatic and non-ideological politician, something that's sadly lacking in this state!
The fact that Steve so obviously gets under the skin of creepy Frank Antenori is another feather in his cap.

@ Thomas who died and made you boss? I know a lot of DDers who have straps and flogers. What works for one don't work for others. Also stores don't sale arnica cream they sale arnica jell which is not the something.
