Re: “Day at the Track

Nate, you're an ignorant, uninformed, pseudo-elitist. Your comments illustrate how little you know about the sport and the wonderful, hard-working people who earn their living at it.

Re: “Day at the Track

I never had any interest in watching abused horses run around a track for money. This is just a couple steps above that horrible dog track. I never even knew this place existed for the first eight years I lived here. Even then when I went to a farmers market there, I thought it was abandoned with how crummy the building looked. Most of my friends did not realize there was horse racing here. I guess it is a cultural thing.and 50,000 people for 12 days is not that many people per day. I hardly call that a popular attraction. Some things should be left in the dust bin of history.

Give the land to the children. They will benefit far more by playing an outdoor team sport than the people going to see a dilapidated race track so they can drink and gamble.

Fuck the track, and fuck the sadist yard apes keeping it in business, and fuck the Weekly for dressing in "indie paper" drag.

Re: “Day at the Track

A responsible journalist would not take this at face value.

"(the minimum field count required to be eligible to host regional and national tournaments)"

Compare the existing venues that host regional and national tournaments to what the Rillito Racetrack would offer.

And ask Mr. Schmidt to pitch the whole bundle akin to http://www.usyouthsoccer.org/assets/1/1/Re…

As to your quotes of Mr. Schmidt regarding the character of Rillito patrons,

Competitive youth soccer, a business where adults (30+) use children (10+) to cheat.

Actually thought Mr. Schmidt was half describing the downtown Tucson scene.

Re: “Border Love

Most Americans are very ignorant when it comes to immigration's history. All of us have unique reasons for coming to the United States. Perhaps and ironically, in my case, I was forced out of Mexico by the Americans who took over our water rights.

Re: “Day at the Track

Nice advertising for the track. I guess the cruelty involved with horse racing and the horses who die on the track aren't worth mentioning, huh? I'm actually curious, is this piece supposed to be serious journalism? http://horseracingwrongs.com/2016/03/09/rillitos-dead-2015/

I am so tired of the County Administrator and his cronies! WE THE PEOPLE, do not want your soccer project. Eat it, and move on!

Re: “Day at the Track

Put the soccer fields in Oro Valley and build the track into the attraction it could be...it's wonderful and unique...soccer is fine, but not uniquely Tucson!

Re: “10 Terrible Bills at the Arizona Legislature

This is very scary, hopefully with the upcoming presidential election, we will see higher turn out of youth voters who might be able to elect people to stand for their rights.

Re: “10 Terrible Bills at the Arizona Legislature

AT least any Democrat would be better than what the GOP has to offer. Look how they destroy America under the GOP leadership of G. Bush. Talk about that, naw, the GOP prefers to cover up anything they do, but will hold heading for years, wasting tens of millions against the democrats. BTW Chaffetz is the terrorist of the GOP, a worthless lawmakers, that lies. Did you watch him at the Flint, MI water hearings? His only agenda was to trash the EPA, the department that tries to keep America from the pollution that the GOP creates. Have we ever added up the billions the GOP wastes annually on committee hearings and do the hearings every produce any results. NAH,

Re: “10 Terrible Bills at the Arizona Legislature

But the AZ Republicans refuse to even address the plastic bag issue, bottles and can returns. They prefer spending tens of millions in cleaning up trash annually, that actually could be spend on education of the kids. Just stop at a mountain turnout sometime and look over the side of the mountain. Several feet of trashed cans and bottles. This is what AZ represents, supported by the voters.
Why not have can and bottle return, what is the real reason GOP? Are the lobbyist paying you too much pocket money?

Re: “Radical Predictions

How much space does each American need? An average dwelling is about 1000 square feet. Each residence needs about 6.3 square miles of area for yard, garage, driveway and an equal share of the highway system. How much for reservoirs, mines, waste repositories, schools, graveyards, shopping malls, airports, generating plants, pads for oil and gas wells, wind turbines, solar farms, watershed, power lines, manufacturing plants, railroads, and on and on.
People won't willingly just spread themselves out evenly. Death Valley is only a hundred and fifty miles or so from LA. How many live in LA vs. Death Valley? How much for farmland so that we can waste 40 percent of the output?

Re: “10 Terrible Bills at the Arizona Legislature

Enjoy the next 4 or 8 years of Hillary with a Dem. Senate, Heidi. Illegally had a server? Well, you know you are lying there. There was NO law before 2014 dictating anything to do with her emails. At least she wasn't hacked by the Chinese like the rest of government was. The real question is if she was so guilty of all these lies, the repugs would have already tried to get it into a court. Any court. They haven't because it is obvious she did nothing wrong. Benghazi? 4 dead in Ohio LIBYA! How many marines died after Raygun put them in their concrete graves in Lebanon? 256 young men that's how many. Did the Dems hold senate hearings and go on and on wasting our taxpayer money on hearings that proved she did nothing wrong. Lastly, it was the repugs that tried to cut 387 million dollars for embassy and consulate security. 2011. The Dems got some of it back in the budget. But, they cut that year and every year since. Watch the slimy, greasy haired Chaffetz on why they cut the security budget! Enjoy the next 8 years of Hillary

Re: “10 Terrible Bills at the Arizona Legislature

Hey Gonzo, it's OK, it's not the first time someone asked a white man for reparations, and it won't be the last.

"Old Pueblo Veteran, you keep confessing to have purchased food stamps illegally, here in the forum. Have you yet confessed your crimes to the State? Have you paid a criminal penalty or restitution?
If not, then your hypocrisy seems to know no bounds."

You know what the most ironic portion of my transaction was? I had to speak Spanish to negotiate the deal. I was denied admission into the SNAP program as my non taxable GI BILL benefits and School Loans were used against my application as income, even during the summer period when I was not enrolled.

If you took the time to actually read my previous comment, it was a less than glowing endorsement of the bill, and of the author's journalistic chops.

Statute of Limitations. I'm sure if you were to find the some of the willing participants in my transactions you would probably have to travel to Sonora for a state witness, and they would have to admit to crimes themselves.

Re: “10 Terrible Bills at the Arizona Legislature

The Senate president is sitting on a bill that would partially restore the KidsCare program .. using federal money. If the feds' money dries up, the program would end. But 30K-40K Arizona kids would have health coverage in the meantime.

Re: “10 Terrible Bills at the Arizona Legislature

The darker the money, the more corrupt the politician. It is an immutable fact that when the lights go dim, someone gets richer somewhere - in some place that is purposefully out of sight, out of the reach of moral scrutiny, and done confidently without a shred of conscience.
