We are lucky to have food this delicious mid-town. Good luck, Tumerico!

Re: “What’s In A Name

I really like the way Chow has changed in the last 5 or 6 months from lazy, poorly written restaurant reviews into interesting well written pieces centered around the people and businesses that bring so much to Tucson's food and drink. I think Chow has become the best section in the Weekly. One thing I would suggest is putting the restaurant name, address, and hours at the bottom of the article or in a little box on the side so the reader can have a quick reference.

Re: “Total Makeover

Otb had been there long before a "diffrent clientele" arrived. When Rusty died the new owners ran it into the ground. Horsepayers had nothing to do with the dimise of the old Putneys; thats pure BS.

Re: “Total Makeover

At one time wasn't there a Chelsea St Pub in Park Mall?

Re: “Total Makeover

Slight correction: The original Putney was located in Park Mall, and loved by eastsiders.
I look forward to sampling the fare when next on that side of town.

Re: “Total Makeover

Great article, well written and informative! I mostly cling to the old days in Tucson. Back in the late '70's, Putneys, Al Smith's and the bar at Cliff Manor was a hang out of sorts for folks that worked in the restaurant/bar biz on the northwest side of town. Lotta fun, lotta booze, lotta memories. I'll visit the "new" place next time I'm in T-Town. Good luck to them!

Re: “A True Tucson Original

I worked there back in the 70's as a busboy. Loved the food especially the gigantic Cheese Crisp.

Re: “A True Tucson Original

Club 21 rules! Great food, relaxed atmosphere and decent prices. Plus, I gotta make sure that my official Club 21 monster margarita glass gets used at least a few times a year. My family and I always look forward to our visits here. Congratulations Skip! Here's to hoping that there's at least 70 more years ahead. Sincerely, DC

Re: “A True Tucson Original

40+ years ago, Club 21 or the old Panchos on Grant would always be the place I would take a gal on our first date, and the #4 was usually the choice at the club.

Re: “A True Tucson Original

We moved to Tucson in 1960 and lived in a motel close to the Club. My parents started going there for dinner. Later on, in 1962, that is where they took me for my 21st birthday and I got to drink my first margarita. Still my favorite drink and Mexican food is still my favorite too. Loved the article. We live in Lakeside, Arizona now, oore would still be going to Club 21!

Re: “A True Tucson Original

Our favorite go - to Mexican Restaurant. Whenever we have out of town guests, we always bring them there for authentic Mexican food. Skip is always there and always stops by to see how the food is and if we need anything. Only complaint...there's a big gaping hole in the men's bathroom wall and lots of graffiti on stall walls.

Re: “Restaurant Redo

I love the new location and I've been twice so far. They're down the street from me, and great for a weekend lunch.

Just a note though - the Carrows building was not their original location. They originally opened on the west side of Campbell, not too far from where they are now and subsequently moved to the east side of Campbell into the big building.
