Re: “Zona Politics: Your Primary Election Round-Up!

If you want to talk about which candidate can get things done, then you need to look at Victoria Steele. Her record in the State legislature speaks for itself. McSally is a one note Johnny with Davis Monathan AFB and the A-10 as her only positive note. That's important to the Tucson economy, but there are a lot of other important issues and she backs the Tea Party on every one. She's a protégé of Jon Kyl and it shows. If you want a candidate that understands the public interest, Steele should be your candidate.

Re: “Zona Politics: Your Primary Election Round-Up!

Mc Silly has passed a lot of bills? In what Congress? She's voted on a lot of bills . . . like shutting down Planned Parenthood and the Affordable Care Act. Give me a break! McSilly's a total Koch sucker.

Re: “Food Insecurity

The government should feed these students just like the homeless. The parents are paying $25,000 for tuition each year and there just isn't anything left to buy food with. This is such an unfair country.

Re: “The Real Madness

I didn't leave out Nixon it is just the most common name the ignorant on this subject use to think they have knowledge and background. Use the Nixon name as a anti prohibition chant that way it will focus, NOT HARDLY !

I can go back to June 1971 Time Magazine did an article on Catalina High School "Most Drug Ridden High School in America". In the article they show the student body in the auditorium Class picture. You look at all, as they were billed at the time, anti social, drug infested, hair farming, tye dyed, mistake for the future.

Reluctant to even mention this is previous posts. Just a look at that I can see who became the who's who of Tucson. I see judges business owners, prominent Atty's, State rep's of all sorts we have all grown in Tucson and Arizona with Marijuana. The biggest fallacy is that it breaks down into political lines which it does not.

Re: “Congressional Candidate Victoria Steele Has a New Campaign Team

Victoria Steele is the type of individual we Need To Elect here in Tucson. John McCain and Martha McSally are the typical Republicans who side with the rich Republican donors, take their money and carry out their agendas, and heck with the individuals who live in the districts that require true and honest leadership. Honest individuals, which McSally and McCain are not, need take care of the pressing issues that plague our city and state. McCain and McSally should Never be allowed to be Bought by the rich ever!!!! Get Them All Out Of Politics, stop taking the bribes and run the race as it should be run. Fair and Square without the Payouts to the pocketbook!!!! Elect Victoria Steele, who will and can do the Job the right way. She stands by guiding principals that we can be proud of and she can be trusted!!!

Re: “The New York Times is Telling the Story of How Tucson Became an 'Unlikely Food Star'

Weeeelllll...I think you're both sort of right, JJ. Yes, the focus was very much on the UNESCO designation, but I thought there was a faintly patronizing air about the article, as if the writer were racking her brains wondering how on earth this utterly provincial little desert hamlet could ever have earned such an honor.

Re: “Media Watch

Sony Wasu was totally biased in her reporting on a student fight at Sahuaro HS relying on a "source" who was the mother of the "victim" who started the fight. Good riddance.

Re: “The New York Times is Telling the Story of How Tucson Became an 'Unlikely Food Star'

TW missed the point of the NYT article. It was not about Sonoran cuisine or restaurants. See here for more info http://tucson.com/business/local/unesco-de…

Re: “What John Oliver Said About Charter Schools

Being paid with "taxpayer money" should mean that charter schools will open their books for taxpayer review and approval. But it apparently does not make them flinch at all. The examples mentioned by John Oliver for administrative malfeasance, deceitful "EMO" operations and hollow online charters are not fictitious. And as such, these operations are not just unethical but they are truly repulsive and nauseating abuses of a public trust. All charter school operations should open their books and show how they work and who gets what. Anyone who runs a clean and effective charter should just do it.

Adam, why are you promoting a restaurant that might be open in three months when there are hundreds open now? What a waste.

Re: “World View Case Moves Forward After Motion Denied

Real economic opportunities do not need to be tied to tax payer dollars and dependent politicians. IBM disproved the adage, "if you build it they will stay." We have commercial spaces available and we have open land that could be developed. It does appear the PC took jobs/income away from local business in an effort to "look" successful.

Fix the damn roads and arrest the criminals. That's what they were elected to do.

Re: “World View Case Moves Forward After Motion Denied

World View represents the first real opportunity in a long time to create a new industry and worthwhile jobs in Tucson, on a large scale. Those who oppose its stationing in our neighborhood are willing to blow off what could be the anchor for Tucson's first new, major economic development in memory.

That would send a clear signal to other entrepreneurs and large investors to stay away, condemning our region to yet more decades of underdevelopment, lack of opportunity, failure to attract talent, and poverty -- all of which would continue to favor Maricopa County's development and domination, which is the real point of this lawsuit.

It's easy to lambast public officials, easy as it is to shoot yourself in the foot, two self-destructive entertainments popular among our more-benighted residents. "Keep Tucson s****y," indeed.

Re: “Tucson Salvage

I'm sitting in the Montreal airport, reading Brian's article, and reflecting back upon the cabbies, residents, Uber drivers, shopkeepers, random folks, etc. I engaged over the past week. One consensus among all of them: In the wake of the rise of trump, America has gone collectively insane. The article certainly reaffirms that, and more. Come November, I may return to Canada to check out the real estate... - Fred Mills, Asheville NC

Re: “McCain: "I Don't Want To Be One of These Old Guys That Should've Shoved Off"

Mccain obviously needs to be pushed out of office. For some time his days have been numbered, he is lucky to have fooled so many for so long. Mccain has been on both sides of the fence forever, often stabbing his constituents in the back. Time to go was twenty years ago!!
