Re: “Political Theater: McSally Schedules Town Hall Just in Time To Scramble Critics

That's a great point Matt in AZ. If you had a chance what were you going to ask her? Why don't we list them all here, and see if anybody knows the answers?

Thanks so much for this article. It is sad that our representative refuses to face us and refuses to answer unscreened questions.

" destroy Planned Parenthood, " ???

Really Mr Nintzel? Really? Who gave you that bit of misinformation, a fake news channel?

How can you destroy a non profit that receives tens of millions from individual donors that receive tax breaks for donating?

Please do at least as much research as me, or what's the point? Even the Episcopal health Foundation is funding abortions.

Re: “Barely budding

There were several reasons why Prop 205 failed. The biggest detractor for me was the semi-monopoly it gave the current medical dispensaries and growers.

The Safer Arizona initiative goes too far in the other direction. Arizona voters will not go for a free-for-all, and they shouldn't.

Re: “Song of the Day: Billy Sedlmayr on Rolling His First Kid Joint to Grand Funk, and 'We're An American Band!'

Was there a "We're an American Band" sticker on my notebook in high school? Yes, there was...right next to the obligatory STP and Bud-Man stickers.

Re: “Political Theater: McSally Schedules Town Hall Just in Time To Scramble Critics

McSally refused to arrange a debate with Matt Heinz before the 2016 election and today is holding a town hall in Sahuarita which is a strongly Republican area. I appreciate "Tucson Weeley" for directing us to coverage of her event on gvnews.com and McSally Take a Stand on their Facebook page. I will watch both. I am a senior citizen dependent on taking a bus from the eastside of Tucson. Than you, "Tucson Weekly."

Re: “Political Theater: McSally Schedules Town Hall Just in Time To Scramble Critics

I think Ms. Chubon is being disingenuous here. Speaking with a member of Pantsuit Nation Tucson, I was told the intent of the "McSally Take a Stand" movement is to "force her to take a stand against Donald Trump." Somehow that doesn't square with the stated intent in this article of trying to "suss out McSally's stance on issues."

Re: “Political Theater: McSally Schedules Town Hall Just in Time To Scramble Critics

There are two types of politicians today -- and Im not talking about Republicans and Democrats.

There are those who are keeping their heads low and their asses covered hoping to ride out the next four years, and there are those who are grabbing for all the power they can get while the getting is good.

Either way you look at it, neither type is looking to do anything for anyone but themselves. Of course, what do you expect, the not-so-new paradigm in politics is you can say anything you want to get elected and then do what you damn well please once the office is yours. People need to stop listening to politicians and pay attention to what they have done in the past and who they have served.

"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."
-- Abraham Lincoln (1809 -1865)

McSally's puppet masters won't let her take a stand. She's your typical Republican snowflake.

Brave enough to fly an A-10 but too scared to face her constituents? SAD!

Re: “Barely budding

Thanks Nick Meyers;
I have been watching this is going to be interesting. With the legislature and HB2404 might get one part of the attempt to change the rule by making more stringent rules by paid signature gathers. Register & classes and no out of state 501(c)3 able to hire or contribute. GOODBYE MPP

So lets look at Safer and Dave David Stephen Wisniewski. I can see a of lot of holes in the boat. The one take not mentioned Dave and his crew of grassroots volunteers of signatures and the ability to amend the initiative along the way give Safer AZ viability. Really Safer is the ONLY consumer advocate marijuana users have that is now making any impact.

It will need to be amended to a grievance process with Kathy Inman and amend to palatable to both it now has the need to become symbiotic relationship.

It is either this or the legislature not wanting the possibility of a voter mandated initiative on legalization. This session push the rules see what passes, is action that will be taken next year. Then before the legalization effort gains steam on a midterm election turnout.. The legislature definitely does not want a rouge government department "DEPARTMENT OF MARIJUANA LICENSE AND CONTROLS"

The legislature might legalize small amounts and set it up like CO or WA. with the 3 plant rule no special license can buy clones. If this happens both are outside looking at what might have been.

Re: “TUSD Suspense Continues

One of the interesting things to observe here is that die-hard privatizer and former State Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal has repeatedly expressed his support for Sanchez in the comment streams. Below are a couple of links to pieces where this occurs. Huppenthal's comments are near the bottom of the streams:

http://m.tucsonweekly.com/TheRange/archives/2017/02/15/tusd-superintendent-firing-update-nothing-to-see-here-folks-for-now

http://www.tucsonweekly.com/TheRange/archives/2017/02/16/tusd-sideshow

Elsewhere Huppenthal expresses opinions that are less puzzling: "The district school with the classical classroom is a dead end for students from poverty and students of color. Yet, you [David Safier] insist that everything is ok and keep writing testaments about the greatness of district education."

What can it mean that a die-hard privatizer, the former State Superintendent of PUBLIC Instruction who saw fit to use his office to make robo calls to residents letting them know that if they were willing to abandon the public district system, there were public funds available for them to apply in private schools, wants Sanchez to remain Superintendent of TUSD?

Perhaps Huppenthal understands that the longer Sanchez remains in his post, the further conditions will deteriorate in the district, and the larger the "market share" of privates and charters will become.

Re: “Death in the Arizona Borderlands

We could start-up a GMO project at the UofA to make a coyote-hyena hybrids and turn them loose in open border areas. Native cultures on both sides of the border seem to like these scavengers which usually eat whatever they kill which should benefit the environment. Plus it would be a lot cheaper than constructing a border wall.

Re: “Did the TUSD Board Come To Bury Sanchez Or To Praise Him? (Answer: C, None Of the Above)

TUSD - mob rule. What an unprofessional board. This is not how you handle business with your superintendent.
