Hey, regarding alcohol, there are still dry counties in this country, and maybe even whole states, so why not also force your morality on marijuana users? Isn't that the game for all those morally pure folks? We don't want it in OUR lives, so you can't have it in yours either!
Its about time those that need this product to stay alive and well, can now in AZ. Well at least for the near future.
Excellent review, I love this place.
"OLDEST DISPENSARY" REALLY???? These places have not even been open for a year. If they survive the year then patients will know what their options may be.
Okay, just when you were starting to write about things that matter then this! Its not a boring read that's for sure.
I read many of the reports on those busts that happened in WA on that day and it was a tax scheme with nothing to do with marijuana instead evading taxes and not securing a good distribution, other words "criminal activity" other drugs and all. Say what you want the recent raids in my mind are justified if they are not playing by the rules. We have State approved dispensaries in Arizona within less then 1000ft from a school. How long do you think they will last?
This story was much better when I mistakenly read the author as Jim Nintzel.
Just curious -did you attend catholic school?
The Tucson mountains out at Continental Ranch look like fresh little nuggs this time of year.
You know, nothing against the MMJ (or just MJ) stance, but the car-fucking analogy just seems silly and gratuitous. Have to wonder if you would have written the same story sans pseudonym.
Do you think you can get out of your 420 Haze for a minute and look at the reality of what is going on with our MMJ program in Tucson? Why is our police chief running amok and stating publicly that he thinks the Arizona Medical Marijuana Program is a "hoax" and in fact all the people on the program are recreational users and of course marijuana is a gateway drug. This backwards thinking has caused our City Council to be paralyzed when it comes to grandfathering in all the 4,000 plus patients with their grow rights. Tucson has passed land use zoning to allow for patients, caregivers and the dispensaries all to cultivate if they follow the rules. Dispensaries are to pay an annual $450.00 fee to the City of Tucson for doing a zoning compliance letter and the patients/caregivers do not need to file any paperwork they are good to go and the City Council knows this is the law of the land but someone (Mr. Smith possibly) needs to get on the record that the Pima County Narcotics Alliance (they already worked deals with Green Halo and Shop 420) is to leave the patients alone and not arrest any MMJ patients with valid cards. You have ignored the Paula Huff situation (she is a victim of our overzealous Pima County Attorney's Office) and why won't you cover this story? Shame on you Mr. Smith, Speaking Truth to Power does not approve!
"Ibuprofen," not "ibuprofin." Don't smoke and spellcheck.
The counter narco squad in Tucson are targeting patients and they are being tried and found guilty under the old ARS 13 and not being give protection under ARS 36-2811.
We must stop this they are ignoring the Arizona constitution.
beware, your mmj card is worthless as a defense,,,,,as paula huff was found guilty today!
I guess DOJ wants to get more money down to the Mexican cartels. Only explanation.
holder belongs hanging from a tree!,,,,co-conspiritor in the murder of brian terry!
The good news is I weathered the storm in Colorado with buds for sale at a farmers market.
I for one am indeed anxious to see Arizona'a first book audit. Our regulating Agency who is suppose to oversea everything from production to final sale will have many voids to go through. Also the fact that I have not been given a single receipt for any purchase that I have made at a Tucson Dispensary should be a good indicator of what is going on. If the Dispensary owners are able to prove every single transaction is a non profit one, than the Department of Health Services are indeed in need of some servicing themselves. Any news when the ADHS will start on the folks here in AZ? Now that would be newsworthy indeed?
Blah, blah, blah really Mr. Smith is this what you are reduced to writing about? What about the whole story about our Medical Marijuana program being stagnant? We only have 36,000 registered patients and a measly 700 caregivers (ridiculously low numbers). There are 40 CHAAs that don't even have one registered caregiver to take care of the folks that have cards but no one to grow medicine for them. What about the over 80 crowd (there are close to 100 patients in Arizona that are over 80 years old) and why is there no caregiver over the age of 80 to take care of the greatest generation folks that have Alzheimer's, Multiple Sclerosis, and Cancer? You just are living in your own little world of writing about stuff that the average person living in Tucson could care less about. Why aren't you talking about the Pima County Narcotics Alliance and their running buck wild and shredding our rights? Guess that's just asking too much of you Mr. Smith and do you even like writing a weekly column? You just seem so joyless to me and I wish we could have another viewpoint about the medical marijuana program than a stoner guy that's in his thirties.
Thank you Vicente Fox (former Mexico President)
stand up people and be seen and heard!,,,,stop the war on cannabis users!
