Got reverb ? Got way too much reverb.
Waste of time.
This guy knows nothing about texas blues, and the vocals are not that good.
These guys are very talented. May you listen to the Collin Shook Trio soon!
yeah, well being a European, leaving in Australia, music and travel lover myself, what was the 1st thing I did after listening that gorgeous album ? I googled Tucson !! and guess what ?? on my travel list ;-))
Andrew Bird fans should check out these pictures of him working on Break It Yourself at Metrosonic Recording Studio in Brooklyn - http://www.metrosonic.net/blog/?p=1068
That is by far the hottest singing man in the world
Port of Morrow is fantastic! I think my favorite song on it is Bait and Switch. Hearing it live at SXSW changed my life :) http://vevo.ly/FQigVQ
great review of a very good album and band, but it's still very unfair to exclude so many other great and hard working bands in the field.... just for one example, if name dropping DragonForce, one is absolutely obligated to tip the hat to many amazing bands who have played a similar speedy, melodic style longer, better, and more intelligently...just one example being Labyrinth, who stole the show at ProgPower USA last year. With the Internet being what it is, Americans have really no excuse any longer to be outwardly or inwardly myopic with music.
day old jelly donuts
But she's pretty and torchy (aka possibly slutty) so men with low standards and bad taste in music will flock to her like bees on day jelly donuts.
Love metakitsch. LOVE.
"The only fault I can find with Ms. Del Rey is a seeming basic misunderstanding of kitsch . . ."
Doesn't that make her, in effect, kitsch? Or at the very least, metakitsch?
How about 1st place for least consequential pop album of the year? Or 1st place for lowest content-to-coverage ratio of the year?
Unless something worse comes out, this one is in 1st place for worst of the year (so far).
Good call on the Kull The Conqueror, very, very insightful. Most people think that by referencing Robert E Howard, that basically defers to the Conan mythos automatically. Not the case here; Kull was the source material in this case. Good call also that II "presumably" draws inspiration from The Invisibles, no one really has figured that one out, however, you are correct to downplay the comparison, as there is not a single lyric on the album that actually references The Invisibles, or anything Grant Morrison has ever written. Still, there is one reference, and there is another glaring similarity also, that no one in the band is yet aware of.
It took six years for Love Mound to follow up "Blackbird" but the wait was absolutely worth it. Can't wait to see them at the CD release!
Hell yeah!! Happy to know they're getting the attention they've deserved since 2007 when they were rocking Cleveland ballrooms filled with jaw-dropped faces.
I still cannot get over "Swan-dress gate". She is the queen of pretentiously avant grade, I'm sure Lady Gaga will copy this next.
This album is so good! Songs like "Heavy Metal Lover" are so unique and dark and are a complete departure from her usual stuff. When I first heard the album, I hated it; I missed the days of sexy pop songs like "Telephone" but it's really grown on me. I enjoy Gaga because it's fun to let go of preconceived notions and to embrace the psychotic dramatic freedom that she embodies.
Re: “Scorned Embrace: Enclosures (Expat)”
well said!
