this isn't about an ever expanding park. where is the park expanding to? There are residences filling the space between the park and Houghton. This is about those homeowners not wanting businesses creeping into their little country club.
Meanwhile there is still NO grocery store in Vail... what's up with that?
Hi Dan, there isn't much cactus out here as we are higher in elevation. It seems you got the impression that I support a new Fry's, I do not. The point I was trying to make was that a store with a lot lower height could be built if they had any desire to work with a neighborhood.
Tucson city council ALWAYS rubber-stamps what developers wants, even if it's to give away traffic bearing streets, like they did to 5th avenue so "the district" apartments could be built. It's insane how stupid and greedy these people are.
Fry's doesn't need a new location there on houghton! They already have a store on the next major street west, 22nd and Harrison!
Julie, we don't need a grocery store at this location. We certainly don't need one that doesn't want to adhere to 30 years of history, culture and laws.
The Planning Commission was split, and rightfully so.
There are so many of those Haagen grocery chains are now closed? Move there. I don't want MORE strip malls in Tucson before the ones we have are revitalized.
"2 miles from the ever expanding park". I love this park. Once a strip mall is built, it never reverts back to nature.
It was unnecessary to begin with, the zoning law change makes it something to fight against.
HIV can you see any cactus in Vail?
I would happily take videos inside the Rita Ranch Fry's Marketplace. To show the 20 feet of open space between displays and the ceilings! Kroger foods could easily design a building that would fit into the neighborhood.
Wow What, Again! I think Bugs Bunny said it best when he said "What a Maroon!"
Illegal Aliens Murder at a Much Higher Rate Than US Citizens Do
“The number of criminal aliens in federal prisons in fiscal year 2010 was about 55,000, and the number of SCAAP criminal alien incarcerations in state prison systems and local jails was about 296,000 in fiscal year 2009 (the most recent data available), and the majority were from Mexico.”

2 miles from the ever expanding park? Those that signed the petition can never shop there. Let them eat cactus.

What is your true opinions about teaching a second language to all PreK-5 students.
What is the compensation package for this elected position?
Save your breath, Guys. She feels how she feels and ain't never gonna change.
I have given up on her. This will never be solved.
We aren't here for the benefit of the Guatemalan Communist. We are here for the average reader to let them know there are sane people in their city, state and country who do not agree with this nonsense and are making our voices heard.
The Silent Majority NO MORE!
Grandma Suzy- There is a Chief Deputy, Chief Financial Officer, and an assistant to the Superintendent. I am unsure of the compensation package.
Are you looking for a job Grandma Suzy?
What is the compensation package for Pima County School Superintendent and are there any assistant or deputies to the position?
Really I've dedicated 23 years to protect you all and my reward ? A pay cut and a reduction in my retirement pension. What the heck is he talking about free health care? I pay 1497.00 a month for my retirement health care that's 17 dollars more than my pension check. So now instead of retirement, its work every day till I die. Gee thanks for supporting you local law enforcement Tucson. All I see are uninformed comments and out right LIES, do some research before you come to any conclusions and you'll see its only the first wave, its your retirement pensions that will be next on the chopping block. Its a nation wide movement reducing pensions, so vote yes and doom yourselves too.
The Pima County School Superintendent is an extremely important position. The Superintendent is the leader for our community on public education and advocates for what is important. The problem we have now is nobody is leading and most certainly not advocating. Politicians have an obligation to the community to strive for excellence. My motivation for running is to make education great in Pima County.
The position may not have the power to change policy overnight but it most certainly can fight for student dollars, teacher salaries, and educate the community on what issues are important. The position can build relationships and create opportunities. The position quite frankly can just do so much more.
Why settle and accept the status quo? Or, believe a political position is nothing more than administration and spelling bees. We have to believe that education can improve. If we continue to believe that education is just fine in Arizona then nothing will change. As a father, teacher, administrator, and candidate I'm not willing to just settle. The lives of too many children depend on someone willing to stand up and make a difference. I believe education will improve and I'm asking you to believe in me.
