Re: “The Skinny

Zona Politics resumes June 26 or July 24? There is no Sunday July 26. Just checking for our Blog for Arizona calendar.

My concern...a baseball stadium that WE pay for; Kino Hospital that was sold so WE wouldn't have to pay for its upkeep. On the other hand, the Goldwater Institute would be an insult to the man after whom it is named. Pima County has a habit of living in the "believe it and they will come" world, only they never come. If you want to do something real for Tucson build a high speed rail to Phoenix and then they will come and go.

I don't know if anybody would have complained had you fixed the roads and not raised property taxes.

Incompetence abounds Mr Huckleberry.

Re: “The Skinny

I live in the County, and so the widening project does not affect me directly. BUT... I think the money could be better spent repairing the City's STREETS, rather than adding many miles of NEW street that will also not be maintained.

The last time I traversed Broadway over the route to be expanded at 'rush hour', traffic moved smoothly, impeded only by traffic signals, which could be better sequenced. But it was NOT slowed to a stop because there was no place to go.

This whole project should be re-thought, and postponed until needed.

Re: “The Skinny

Or, could it be that income levels in Tucson are such that there are no "local donors" willing to buy influence. Somebody has to.

Re: “The Skinny

It's clear to any thinking person that, in CD races, campaign donations are directly correlated to out-of-state ownership of the candidate. Sadly, our clueless State parties don't get this; they are, in fact, the pimps for these soiled doves. Congressman Grijalva, who gets no big money for his campaigns, is generally dismissed by the Party apparatchiks . . . and he votes his own way. I would guess that this is why he supports Steele. She's not for sale either.

Re: “The Skinny

McCain decoy, Alex Meluskey chose a known felon as his Senate Primary campaign manager in February of 2015. A records check would have shown PT Burton had been convicted of kidnapping & Armed Robbery. Did Meluskey read PT Burton’s LinkedIn Profile listing Burton as Senior Marketing Director for Shane Krauser Enterprises? (Krauser was a Maricopa County Prosecutor convicted of mass Fraud in 2014). Meluskey’s 2015 AZ Corporation Commission (ACC) application of record links him to Robert Morris Group (RMG) President Craig Bergman, Director Joel Frewa & RMG “Corporate Partner” PT Burton.……
Remember Burton engineered a 2015 Scottsdale Resort fraud, stealing thousands from Tea Partiers. Note Bergman and Frewa (RMG officers) call themselves “victims and witnesses” of the fraud, but neither man lost a dime. And RMG Director Joel Frewa (Meluskey’s Communications Director and a Krauser employee) was Burton’s friend and roommate all during the 3-month-long 2015 Resort fraud.

Why did Meluskey ignore “Director” Burton’s (Linkedin) working with known felon Shane Krauser?
In 2014 (as Meluskey admitted printing false election slates to steal seats in Precinct 59 Bronco) County Prosecutor Shane Krauser was publicly admitting stealing $2.07 million from AZ investors.……

Craig Bergman, President of RMG, is Meluskey’s new Campaign Chairman. Frewa, Director of East Coast Operations at RMG, is Meluskey’s communications Director. Burton was “corporate partner” at RMG and was Meluskey’s Director & Campaign Chair. All were part of the Bergman, RMG, Krauser “Liberty Enterprise” network of talk radio, fire arms training, legal service, publishing agencies and “Liberty” Companies that spawned the 3 month Liberty Promotions Scottsdale Resort Fraud.

Meluskey supposedly “fired” PT Burton, after his 2015 Krauser Liberty Promotions’ paid-for non-event at Scottsdale Resort. But Burton’s Linked-In Profile as Meluskey “National Campaign Advisor” admits Meluskey was (and has always been) controlled by the same Craig Bergman, Judd Saul, Joel Frewa, Shane Krauser network – all interconnected with Liberty Companies and the Robert Morris Group.……

Why do criminal connections matter? Why does McCain-decoy-Meluskey carelessness matter?
Will anyone vote for a candidate who surrounds himself with criminals? We already have one.
And we know many Senate Primary campaigns are exercises in criminal contempt for their voters.

McCain DC allies like Senator Lindsey Graham “invest” millions to weaken State Primary opposition. Graham is a Director of McCain’s “Reform Institute Super PAC”. Graham’s “West Main Street Values PAC” and McCain’s “Reform Institute” have been exchanging secret campaign money for decades.
Graham spent over two million to arrange 6 Republican decoys in his (2014) South Carolina Primary.…

Frauds like McCain and Graham pay frauds like Meluskey to deceive their own voters every 6 years. Meluskey has spent a half million according to FEC reports, but no real source for the money is listed.
Tee shirts, signs, TV ads and resort conventions do not hurt McCain or Graham, but if they convince enough Republican voters that decoys like Meluskey are real candidates, the frauds will always win.

Re: “The Skinny

Am I suppose to be impressed that out-of-state big money interests are flooding the coffers of puppet McSally so they can pull her strings and do their bidding? All the more reason for Arizonans to support Victoria Steele.

Re: “The Skinny

Campaign finance is an interesting subject this election, not the amounts of money raised but where it comes from and how it is spent. One Republican congressional candidate is in hot water not because of his campaign funds, but his possible use of state money for his campaign. It's been corrected, House Speaker Gowan admitted his mistake (got caught) and paid it back. Did he pay it back with campaign funds or his personal funds? No matter, he has been so totally exposed his Republican opponents barely know he is in the race.
Gowan who wants to go to Congress, takes a back seat to Republican Congressman and Indiana Senate candidate Marlin Stutzman. His sin according to APNewsBreak: Billing his campaign for a Family Trip to California. The Republican Tea Party candidate's campaign fund use is at odds with his public image. Representative Gowan could look Congressman Stutzman's campaign, congressional expense records and point his figure and say see my charges are nothing.
Gowan's Republican colleague's campaign bought him a vehicle and ran a tab that surpassed $60,000 for automobile-related expenses, including car payments, insurance, registration and repairs.
Dark money directed into campaigns, misuse of public and campaign funds just shows how interesting a subject in this year's election.
Getting caught and exposed then taking your anger out on the press is another of Republican Speaker Gowan's missteps that had to be corrected. Wait maybe all of this is special training to become a member of Congress.
McSally won't take a stand on Trump, now McCain won't attend the Republican Convention and you are pointing out how little Victoria Steele has raised to finance her congressional campaign against McSally.
Former State Representative Victoria Steele stands out for her real accomplishments while serving at the State Capitol, so she didn't endear herself to the campaign fund money handlers. You point out her string of endorsements is very impressive. Turns out it may be more than a good thing and a big plus for Victoria Steele's campaign for Congress.

I know of a young man who was killed riding his bike on Broadway right in front of the old Alberts auto care

Re: “The Skinny

Like I said, I walk in that area of town no less than 5 days out of the week. For the last 7 years. I have not experienced, nor have I heard from neighbours, any of the problems such as the ones you have mentioned. I figured that you must have meant something vice related from your comment, that is why I mentioned the Methville part of "ton" in my comment.

Okay, I admit it, I misunderstood the point you were attempting to make. But, as a person who resides in this area, I know that you also misunderstand.

Re: “The Skinny

I'm not sure where the "Methville" part of ton is, but I stay clear of that. That section of Broadway is extremely dangerous from cars coming right over the curb for pedestrians and bicyclists. 30 MPH through there is ignored. Be careful.

Re: “The Skinny

Hey David W,

There's nothing wrong with walking in that area. I do it several days out of the week. This is not the Methville part of town. Learn the area to which you are referring to before you find yourself looking stupid. DC

Re: “The Skinny

Sidewalks? People would be crazy to walk in that area. The majority sidewalks poured in Tucson, are built by businesses that are forced to pay for infrastructure to get a zoning permit or variance. AKA payola or confiscation.

Re: “The Skinny

Wow AZ/DC, I've never read anything as empowering as what you've posted about me. I believe that I will go away and donate my time and money to helping needy immigrants. After that, I will gain some knowledge and realize that the term "liberal" isn't necessarily an evil thing. After that, I might just realize that if wealthy people actually paid their fair share of taxes, everyone would be better off. I am done being an asshole! Thank you for your life improving insight! This experience for me has been very cathartic.

Hey What, Again...

Where's the standard "5th poorest city and DAMN proud of it" and "illegals are ruining everything" bullshit that you usually post? At least you included some horse shit about liberals and white guilt, that way the rest of us still understand that it is really you.

Please, please, please...just go away!

Re: “The Skinny

Tucson has deliberately created choke points cutting off all access to the interstates and access to other regions in the area. The no-growthers and radical enviros have won and now Tucson is as isolated as it could be, a liberal bastion of white guilt and poverty. There is probably no other city in the country that has intentionally said no to progress like Tucson.

Just the way the populace wants it.

No growth, no jobs, no future.
