Re: “The Skinny

"Party" should be such a bogus, irrelevant term these days. Both parties created the mess they are in.
Even though Bernie just endorsed someone who is the antithesis of all he and his supporters profess to be and believe in, the Democratic Party is in not much better shape than the Republican Party. With the extreme disgust of Hillary, and the unknown quantity and loose cannon who is Trump, I see Jill Stein of the Green Party, and Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party throwing this whole election into disarray, and in the best of worlds, keeping neither major candidate from getting 270 electoral votes, and throwing it into the House of Representatives.

In re Trump and free speech. Ronko has it right, even inconprehensible gibberish is protected. At times Trump makes Palin sound smart.

Clinton is a crook and Trump is a clown. We are doomed.

Re: “The Skinny

While I endorse and respect the first amendment rights of free speech, even and especially yours Rat T, that right has little to do with (other than informing me) the freedom I exercise with my right, responsibility, privilege and freedom to vote. Happily anyone can say what they want given our first amendment privileges. In fact, I am very pleased that the presumptive Republican candidate for president does not hold back. His free speech exposes him on a regular basis for the charlatan he truly is.

" How ANYONE could endorse a loudmouth who insults a genuine war hero seems treasonous to me." ronko

That is referred to as a 1st Amendment Right.

But then I suppose that you want Hillary Clinton tried for treason because what she did was much more threatening to national and international security. Right?

Let the trial begin.

Re: “The Skinny

Many AZ Republicans believe McCain is a “war hero”. The hard truth is much less. Disabled American Veterans give Sen. McCain a 20% rating; Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America give McCain a “D” grade for veterans’ issues.
Why? Because our Republican Arizona Senator, John McCain, has voted:
Against body armor for troops. http://archives.politicususa.com/2008/07/2… 5/26/08)
Against providing Automatic Cost-of-Living Adjustments to Veterans. (S. 869, Vote 259, 11/20/91)
Against more funding Department of Veterans Affairs. (H.R. 2099, Vote 470,9/27/95)
Against a $13 Billion Increase in Funding for Veterans Programs. (S.C.R. 57, Vote 115, 5/16/96)
Against $44.3 Billion for Veterans Programs. (H.R. 2684, Vote 328, 10/15/99)
Against $47 Billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs. (H.R. 4635, Vote 272, 10/12/00)
Against $51 Billion in Veterans Funding. (H.R. 2620, Vote 334, 11/8/01; Vote 269, 8/2/01)
Against $122.7 Billion for Department of Veterans Affairs. (H.R. 2861, Vote 449, 11/12/03)
Against $500 million mental health and rehabilitation services for veterans diagnosed with mental illness, PTSD or substance abuse. (S. 2020, S.Amdt. 2634, Vote 343, 11/17/05)
Against providing an assured funding stream for veterans’ health care, annual changes in veterans’ population and inflation. (S.Amdt. 3141 to S.C.R. 83, Vote 63, 3/16/06)
Against $430 million for vet outpatient care (S.Amdt. 3642 to H.R. 4939, Vote 98, 4/26/06)
McCain Supported Outsourcing VA Jobs (S.Amdt. 2673 to H.R. 2642, Vote 315, 9/6/07)
McCain Opposed the 21st Century GI Bill (ABCNews.com, 5/26/08)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/brandon-frie…

McCain would not accept an amendment to the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) “to give military base commanders the authority to allow service members to carry personal firearms.” http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/20…

But the most important truth: “War Hero” McCain sided with John Kerry on the Armed Services Committee to block or kill POW-MIA search-and-rescue bills like the “Truth Bill” (HR1147) in 1992 and the Missing Service Personnel Act (relaying intel information on MIAs to their families) in 1996.
Why would McCain hinder any legislation searching for and reporting MIA-POWs in Southeast Asia?
Why would John McCain break faith with his long-lost brothers-in-arms?
Semper Fidelis? Hell no!
Remember, all our POWs were not freed as he promised when John McCain left Hanoi in 1973. http://www.vvof.org/mccain_hides.htm http://www.veteranstoday.com/2015/07/21/jo… http://www.thenation.com/article/why-has-j…
http://www.theamericanconservative.com/art…

And we were told POW McCain refused early release until all POWS were free – more deception.
In May, 1967 (five months before McCain was captured) Medal of Honor winner, Captain James B. Stockdale, senior POW, ordered all POWs to refuse the “Fink Release Program”. So McCain didn’t refuse! His commanding Officer had already refused! (Stockdale’s Book: “In love & War”, p. 254) All the above is public record. Look everything up; read the references. And after you verify McCain’s treachery make it a point to share the truth about John McCain’s fidelity with other voters.

Re: “The Skinny

Like many I recall a time when I had respect for Senator McCain in spite of,more often than not, disagreeing with him. This was before he endorsed President G. W. Bush's campaign to invade Iraq. This was also well before Sarah Palin entered the national scene. Consistently and systematically Senator McCain has devolved as a Congressman who commands respect from either side of the aisle Too bad. Too bad for his legacy, and too bad for the American public. We could certainly use independent leaders wit backbones in DC. This is good evidence of the need for term limits. Senator McCain has outlasted his relevance and effectiveness as a representative of this state, and of our country.
The last straw very sadly is for Senator McCain to suck up to Donald Trump, after Trump insulted his military service record. Love McCain or hate him, he has earned a nations respect for serving our country. How ANYONE could endorse a loudmouth who insults a genuine war hero seems treasonous to me.

Re: “The Skinny

What about disclose of that middle school texting one another in class (and I'm only assuming they are texting "one another")? Disclose it or put your phone away. It's especially childish when they do it while citizens are speaking. If it's a county paid for phone we are entitled. I'm quite sure it's not Huck ordering pork chops or Ray tallying his graft for retirement.

Re: “The Skinny

Chuckles,

If you managed a budget exceeding 1 billion dollars a year and did that successfully for a few decades...what would you expect to be paid? Are the taxes that you pay excessive? Maybe you can cite specific instances of financial mismanagement on the part of Pima County?

Just more hot air, baseless accusations. Is Chuckles ... Ally Miller?

Re: “The Skinny

Partial agreement. There is little difference between Sanders and Trump when it came to primaries. Just like the UK yesterday, voters in the lower and middle classes are sick and tired of the "party elite." It hasn't worked. Both sides are looking to outsiders to do the hard work of solving the problems that the parties have not.

Long story short? Hillary is the only old guard, lie to your face, insider politician that is left. The public is now seeing how power and money have totally corrupted the Clinton machine. Sanders supporters aren't going back, and much as Raul will be rewarded for bringing them back to the "plantation."

Voters are finally paying attention and they are smarter than that.

Re: “The Skinny

Nobody, but nobody, talks about the extraordinary feat of Sen. Sanders to run a competitive campaign with small dollar donations against the Clinton Machine and a DNC with its thumb on the scale. Meanwhile the candidate who swears she'll reign in Wall St. and wants to end Citizens United is funded by and beholden to big money. That campaign promise is simply unbelievable.

Re: “The Skinny

After the defeat of progressives in the UK yesterday, Bernie may be nobody's problem. But Hillary has plenty. After joining our President's threats of "moving the British to the back of the line" blew up in their faces, it would appear the world is tiring of governmental control of economies. Add that to immigration out of control with open borders, and they just said NO.

November we just may Trump them.

Raul telling you how to vote?

Re: “The Skinny

"Grijalva was one of the few members of Congress to endorse Bernie Sanders, but now he says it's time for 'Bernie or bust' crowd to get behind Hillary Clinton, even if they do think she's too close to Wall Street or a neocon warmonger."

Here's one problem with this idea: if we were to "get in line," the Democrats will continue to use the progressive base for elections and then ignore us again and again. They will never respect the progressives unless we carry the ‪#‎BernieOrBust‬ strategy to its 50 state conclusion in November.

Problem two: try to imagine our credibility if we "get in line" after Bill Clinton encouraged Trump to get more involved with Republican politics. We would immediately stop being revolutionaries and start being sheep. Sorry Grijalva, ‪#‎SheepNoMore‬. Trump is Clinton's problem to solve, not progressive's.
