This reader is also deeply concerned about the fact that tens of thousands of southern Arizonans actually voted FOR Jesse Kelly. We can only hope that the vast majority of them did so out of party loyalty and/or force of habit. And to characterize Mr. Kelly as some sort of heaven-sent messenger of change is, frankly, disturbing. What some folks consider "godly" makes me question the nature of religion, and chills me to the bone. I don't believe Jesus would think much of their criteria, either.

Comparing the border situation of today with that of 150 years ago is ludicrous, Mr Gould. You are correct in your historical assessment, but completely off the mark in terms of the effect that border has on today's Yaquis and other assorted crossers. You might as well say it was fortunate that slaves were brought to the Americas because their ancestors would eventually be better off.

Hey, Grandpa - your grandson is going to give medicare to some insurance company. You know how these money grabbers operate - restricted coverage, more out of pocket money from you.
Now how about your social security - gonna give that to the koch brothers and let them dole out a pittance of what you are receiving.
Good people of District 8 - being in District 7 I cannot vote. I have asked before please vote for Ron Barber and send a message to kelly to stay out of politics. I hope you don't want an immoral and no compassion for others person as your representative

Developers win, no matter what. They own the city council. Even the small potatoes ones: no one got in anyone's way when people started buying up and tearing down little houses on big lots to put up TWO hideous new houses with 6-car garages for UA students...and somehow there were still more cars on the street than ever before, in addition to the added noise and flyaway trash from all the Biffs and Brittanies from California who turned up. You really think anyone's going to put their foot down about West Campus?

Kelly's behavior in his debate with Gabbie at Buena High in Sierra
Vista was unforgiveable. He allowed his tea party thugs to shout her
down and did nothing but grin. Imagine being a sitting member of the US
Congress and have an audience keep you from speaking. Kelly's lack of
constraint for his crowd was an insult to democracy.

Kudos to the Kippur family for doing the right thing! South Tucson is a caricature of a city - they ignore atrocious animal welfare violations, and make no effort to get the dog track to comply with the law. Shame on South Tucson government and bravo to Tucson Iron & Metal!

they are fed raw meat the vets still give steroid shots the dogs are still kept inside for hours and hours .you ask how do i know im former owner operator of the mb kennel.tgp has a motto if you cant beat them(mb greyhounds) get rid of them.if you care about the dogs you get ran off.

Bravo to Tucson Iron and Metal! Everyone else has dodged responsibility. The South Tucson City Council and City Attorney have refused to enforce the law. The Tucson City Council wouldn't say no to more off-track betting sites in Tucson. The Legislature wouldn't take up a bill outlawing steroids to prevent estrus. The Racing Dept. never has done a whit for the dogs. The Vet Examining Board said it's not their jurisdiction. The County said they can't tell if the dogs are being kept in cages 23 hours a day, fed raw diseased meat (they are), or being shot up with steroids in violation of local law. This is one of those rare cases where a business takes a higher ethical ground than does government. Thank you!

Actually he has won "best talk host" 3 years in a row (probably hopes to make it 4) and "most popular host" for the past 2 years. You more than likely just misunderstood him.

Could SOMEBODY please tell Jon Justice he has NOT won "MOST POPULAR" for THREE (3) years in a row, and that he hopes 2012 will make it FOUR????? According to the Tucson Weekly list, he won for 2010 and 2011. According to my math, that's ONLY TWO (2) years he has won, and hopefully he won't win ever again. HE STINKS!

So, let me get this straight....no one here (virtually) owns any of the aforementioned properties, yet you think it's your responsibility to tell a private company what and how to build a structure none of you are paying for? Secondly, yes there will be college kids partying and misbehaving but tell me where that doesn't occur. I'd rather have partying college kids with parents who are capable of paying for any damage than some crackhead tweaker stabbing his mate or stealing from my shop.
This arrogant oppressive attitude by those who need to mind their own business is why our nation is in decline. Mind you own damn business, live your life not someone else's.
