I have no problem with medical marijuana having to follow the same rules that other drugs have to follow, but not special rules simply because the drug is marijuana. I realise that the promoters of medical marijuana so wanted a law that will pass, they caved in areas that they should not have. How would you like to get a special "pass" to buy you blood pressure meds,or perhaps some other med that you need? Why was it required to put medical marijuana in a position where only the "well funded" can seek the relief medical marijuana provides? I feel there are only a few (but they do exist) conditions where medical marijuana works better than the pill you would get in a "normal" setting but if the patients reports that this drug (the medical marijuana) is working well for him/her that should be the end of the discussion.Much is made today about perscription drug abuse,I have no reason to believe it is not a very big problem. Not wanting to re-hash an issue that has been decided(allowing the use of medical marijuana) but I think the reasoning behing medical marijuana needs to be looked at again. If you percieve your condition is better because of the medical marijuana you use,why not call it a win, simple as that? Many people get into trouble with their perscriptions because they do not follow the perscription as written. If it does not work right away they take another pill or perhaps add alcohol to the mix.If it is working, some think that taking another pill will make it work even better, both scenearios are very dangerous. You are not going to stop breathing,or end up with no heartbeat due to medical marijuana.Sure if you mix it with alcohol, pass out on your back you stand a chance of vomiting and drownding in you own vomit. Please do not drive if you take pills, use medical marijuana,or drink.Society will come down hard and without mercy if you have a car accident and hurt someone while you are impaired. If your condition is bad enough your Doctor can help you get Sun Van rides very cheap. There is no excuse to driving either impaired, distracted,or just plain tired. In closing,I ask that medical marijuana be treated fairly.I believe manly long running family arguments revolve around marijuana use.If the anti-marijuana party agrees that marijuana is OK in a medical setting I believe they think they will suffer some sort of embarassment within the family for being so strongly opposed to marijuana for so many years.Remember the goal is to help people feel better and stop the overdoses from drugs that will cause your death if the perscription instructions are not followed
Re: “Mailbag”
"... preferable that consumers purchase untaxed, unregulated and potentially unsafe marijuana from criminals?"
If you are one of the criminals, ABSOLUTELY!!!
