Re: “The Case of Liberty Cove

I SMELL A RAT.This hit piece on Diamond is coming out now for what reason? Why didn't any of the investors notice this property is in the flume of the second dirtiest power plant in all of Mexico? Plus what kind of asshole would believe Formula 1 cars wouldcometothe middle of nowhere unless they were part of this scam and believed suckers furtire down the food chain would make them well. You all pretty much got what you deserved by not warning others early on.

Re: “Local Heroes 2012

You gave credit to the wrong man for rescuing the DeAnza Drive-In screen. Demion had nothing to do with that! The credit for this goes to George Cohn and Charles Spillar. They are my heroes. Shame on you, Tucson Weekly, for not giving credit where credit is due. George and Charlie worked their butts off to make Tucson a better place, and you just gave them a virtual smack in the face.

Re: “Ethnic Studies Myths

To all of the wingnut clowns who think that just because you click the like means your winning: bumping the votes by changing your IP address doesn't count, and neither does the perceived popularity online of a given view on this subject. What matters are the facts, and Mari Herreras did a great job at documenting them. You right wing lunes who obsess over imaginary conspiracies involving La Raza never cease to amaze me with your ability to conjure up total utter bullshit out of your asses. I attended a few after school meetings of my school's chapter in my senior year; all that was discussed was how to get involved in making the community a better and safer place. Here is a little fun fact for you; I'm a white kid who attended a mostly Latino charter school, and I took a semester each of Chicano Cultural Studies, Chicano Literature, and Cultural Tolerance/Bigotry Awareness. Did it make me loath myself and turn me into a "La Raza" activist? No, dipshits, all it did was broaden my horizons, and taught me a lot about a culture that I wasn't raised in. I'm a more empathetic, educated, and wise human being as result of that, and I eternally grateful that it was a part of my school's curriculum.

Furthermore the cultural bigotry and racism of Bob Cap is truly a gem. It would be funny except for the fact that he actually is convinced that he is right.

Re: “Ethnic Studies Myths

Apparently several of these readers are ignorant about the fact that undocumented "illegal" immigrants make the American economy run, and it has always been that way. Educate yourself about the American history of immigration. If it weren't for many thousands of undocumented immigrants, you wouldn't have fresh produce, meat or other groceries in your store. Educate yourself about the reality of "illegal" immigrants before you complain about them, and you'll find out they contribute much more to the American way of life than you realize. Americans have always judged immigrants and made them out to be horrible, all the while profiting from their hard, backbreaking work. And if you haven't heard, other states have used MAS as a model for educating minority students and improving their grades and graduation rates.

Re: “Speed Traps

Do a google serach of "Tucson employment rankings" and the first thing that pops up is "tucson ranked #1 in bike freindly towns." Trust me there are about a 1000 other statistics that I would perfer to have this town be ranked in. I think one of them would be home values, business freindly, new jobs, manufacturing, technology and innovation. Tucson is down among the bottom in these catagories, so maybe our money is not being spent correctly. Maybe the City council and Mayor should fired, oh wait..it's only been this way for ever and we keep voting in the same old red diaper doper babies.....I guess I should blame Tucson unified schools district...more ethnic studies then common sense.

is there anything for when the person is not you and the car is not yours, but you somehow ended up with the ticket?

Re: “Get Out Of Town!

RE:Efforts to "Define" What an Intersection Is - Thus the problem, it is NOT that easy to define an intersection any longer in this city, as TPD/City Court have arbitrarily changed the definition at SOME of its red light camera intersections ie: Speedway and Kolb. Whereas common sense and prior definitions, define an intersection as stated above; "An intersection consists of the square formed by the curbs on each corner.", these "special" intersections are now defined by a little white line placed out in the middle of the actual intersection.

Re: “Get Out Of Town!

There's no such thing as self-serve checkout when you have a six pack of beer or any other kind of alcohol. You will always need to have assistance because of the age requirements. That's probably why the six pack guy wanted to try and get quickly through a line with a checker.

Re: “Get Out Of Town!

Wes,

Nice holiday spirit. Hope you don't end up as one of those homeless mental cases in the country, three-quarters of whom, statistically, are veterans who fought for your country. That certainly speaks volumes about how much the USA (and people like you) really care about these folks who put their lives on the line. But I'll bet you have a flag decal.

Re: “Get Out Of Town!

Keep the "Get Out Of Town" gig, and add to it an emeritus listing of folks, events and organization so loathed that they are permanently installed and listed briefly on every gig. You know, like Jim Click and the Republican misfits that cling to him like lamprey eels.

Re: “Get Out Of Town!

I'll use the self check-out lanes when the stores offer a discount for doing so. I don't work for the store, so they should offer something for my helping them out. The only incentive appears to be to save some insufferable ass who's in line behind you from complaining while waiting his/her turn.
