Jesse Ventura defrauded the people of Minnesota to become Governor by lying about being a Navy SEAL. VENTURA STOLE THE VALOR OF OTHERS to win the 1998 election by a very slim margin.
Ventura bribed a guy to leave the 1998 Reform Party so he wouldn't have competition in the Reform primary. When complaints were filed against Ventura for election violations, Susan Gaertner, Ramsey County Attorney at the time, fixed the investigation and its outcome, and got her boyfriend John Wodele a job with Ventura. Gaertner is now with the Minneapolis law firm of Gray Plant Mooty.

Ventura's wife lied under oath in the Chris Kyle sniper trial when she said she never heard her husband disparage military or known him to lie. Her lies influenced the jury and were not rebutted by sniper lawyers. She heard him disparage and lie here - www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGO9gjeCX2I
Interesting. It never occurred to me that you could create something similar to mulled wine using beer instead.
Why should Tucson schools teach history that is Mexican propoganda? Do you think Mexico teaches history from the U.S. viewpoint? Our ancestors didn't fight for independence from Mexico so Mexican viewpoint studies could be taught in the United States.
Was this article in TW because the editor is Mexican and finds this subject appealing?
Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad! And remember the Battle of San Jacinto where Texians whipped the corrupt, barbaric, show no quarter, slaughtering Mexicans under Gen. Santa Anna.
Mexico is a problem for the U.S. and apparently always will be because their govt. is so inept, corrupt and unstable.
If one wants to know more about Mexico, I recommend reading the excellent book, "Mexico" by James Michener, that includes the background and history of why Mexico is the corrupt country it is.
We can learn from it for ourselves and guard against becoming like Mexico.
Mexicans flood across our borders, but U.S. citizens don't flood over to Mexico. Even the Mexicans don't want to live in Mexico because of the corruption and crime. That is really all you need to know about "Mexican studies."
What are "Mexican studies" trying to teach and why?
And who is trying to promote "lack of education" for Mexicans? They need all the education they can handle.
They should allow the patient to grow. It costs less than 25 cents per gram to cultivate it. So why should we have to pay over a dollar much less $20 per gram. Ridiculous
Oh, my god! Please! Can we give it a rest? So much of this is nothing but unadulterated trash. I couldn't stomach past the part about 'The Kid' shooting "Windy" Cahill. That was so long ago debunked and yet it still keeps making the rounds. Ah! But you'll buy hook, line, and stinker of the preposterous tale of Billy living to old age! Oh, yeh. And the "Wanted" poster? It's also a total fake. Didn't show up until sometime in the 1940's, I believe. (They wanted that poor kid then? Still?)
Truth is, Billy was killed at the age of around 19 - far from the 21 years claimed by Pat Garrett, who knew little about Billy other than what he was told by Billy, himself.
The truth is, Billy was considered quite a handsome young man by those who knew him - and even those who didn't like him more often than not would grudgingly admit he was a good looking kid.
Truth is, most of what is 'thought to be true' about Billy comes from a book ghost written by one hack journalist by the name of Ash Upson for Pat Garrett. Garrett had delusions of grandeur and aspirations of becoming the first Governor of New Mexico when it became a state.
Truth is, Garrett tore up the coroner's death certificate and dictated one declaring Billy to be 21 years old and shot in the chest, not in the back. (It wouldn't look good for a man wanting to be governor to shoot a nineteen year old kid in the back now, would it?)
Oh, yeh. Another bit of truth. Pat Garrett and Billy were not really friends. They played cards together. In fact, the first time they played, Billy was probably 14, and he strolled into the bar where Garrett worked. Garrett figured to take the kid's money and send him on his way. "The Kid" took Pat's money, instead. And Garrett held a grudge against him ever after for embarrassing him in his own saloon, though they did play often after and, reports have it that Garrett, once he learned not to underestimate the kid, held his own... more or less.
Truth is, this bit of tripe is so full of inaccuracies and outright falsehoods that it should have a warning label notifying any readers that it is pure fiction.
Truth is, it appears the "author", Mr. Leo Banks, obviously failed to do ANY fact checking before he hit his button.
Truth is... there is very little truth in this piece.
Downtown cannot become a bastion of overpriced, snooty, wannabe exclusive venues...
Not sure how relevant this is, but the Graham Holdings Company (Wash Post owners - Graham family) owns Kaplan Inc, a company that among other education-related things provides test prep courses and things. I always view their education editorial stuff with this in mind.
And nice article. Use your critical thinking brains, at all times, especially before you accept at face value any kind of stats or study information. Come to think of it, maybe schools should teach critical thinking much more than test-prepping and cramming.
Lube! Yay! The more the merrier. While desensitizing lubes can lead to not feel an issue that may be happening, there are so many great brands of natural body safe water based lubes out there. Many of our bodies don't produce enough to go as long as we want or feel as good as we would like. This could be anything from medications, age, water intake, diet, or just the way they are built. Asking a doctor if you have an issue because you're dry will get you one easy answer. Lube it up. When a woman visits a obgyn they come into contact with lots of it. Helping doctors insert tools or ultrasound probes.
The problem with lube, other than messy, is that one should be cognizant of the body requiring additional help. If the body does not naturally secrete fluid, there may be medical reasons, etc. Lube is great as an assist but one should be aware of the changes in ones body.
Wow, another well written column with a minimum of name calling.
I will do you a favor ( free of charge) and call b.s. on a couple of your remarks Tom.
Why are we "crazy" to think that we are Taxed Enough Already (TEA)? Add them all up sometime.
As for the Republicans blocking Obama, that is ridiculous. Pelosi and Reid played fair?
How many bills did old Harry bring up for a vote Tom?
For the first two years of his reign, King Barry had the House and the Senate.
How much immigration law change did he propose then? Now he refuses to enforce a law he dislikes?
Your comments on upholding the law should put this prez in the slammer.
Not to mention sicking the IRS on conservatives, Mexican gun running with Holder.... oh hell with it
I just remembered that you never listen.
I read here that all individuals, from any side, should be brought out into the light of day. I have no doubt that both sides have the opportunity to swing an election with dark weasel money, but to just state liberals have (specific) bad actors too misses the point. Put it all out there for all to see, and then we will know who floods the airways just before an election. I really want to know who is behind every single money transfer - BEFORE we all vote in an election.
Laughable Jim. Not one word about environmental activist and hedge fund millionaire Tom Steyer.
When I first heard that corporations were people and could donate political money as individuals, I said to myself, "Ok, just so we know who donated And how much. Who got the money." Then, I learned that corporations, as well as individuals, could hide these things easily in a PAC type legal entity and none of it would ever be known before an election. From every angle, that's just wrong.
Opting out has been the only way for parents to force a discussion about the harm vs. benefit of our current high stakes testing scheme. Until the opt out movement, it was steamrolled on us and no one would listen to parents. This discussion must happen and I'm glad Dave is covering it.
But the coverage must also spotlight the way that TUSD, following ADE directive, abuses children whose parents have tried to opt them out. People can disagree about testing, but don't lose focus of what the government is doing to kids. When parents hold their children out of school on testing days and notifies administrators that they do not want their child tested, TUSD pulls the kids out of class upon their return and sits them down in front of the test three days in a row. Can you imagine the despair of an 8 year-old child forced to choose between disobeying parents and disobeying teachers? Can you imagine the despair of teachers who hate themselves for doing that to an 8 year-old child? Do you need any more evidence that the testing industry is making our educational system sick and that Arizona in particular is sadistic? (Other states treat students who opt out humanely.)
The testing debate is between grown ups. Leave those kids alone and please put pressure on state and local administrators to stop abusing kids.
Great show last night, Henry was awesome and his group worked it like no tomorrow
Great, relateable story, and AMAZING writing!
I will amend I made a mistake on the proposition number it is not 106 but Prop 203 of election year 2010. her is an interesting fact about the constitution wording that legalization proponents want retracted. article 9 of the amendment.
G. State law should make a distinction between the medical and nonmedical uses of marijuana. Hence, the purpose of this act is to protect patients with debilitating medical conditions, as well as their physicians and providers, from arrest and prosecution, criminal and other penalties and property forfeiture if such patients engage in the medical use of marijuana.
Well defined to me we don't need a "regulatory judge" immune from following criminal guideline making this determination
I wont go to a dispensary been to most. I have a medical MMJ card for medical ailments 3 years now. I did not join a life style or grouping. I order my prescription medication from Walgreen online. I don't get happy hour special's, punch cards, daily promotions and specials, sit for sometimes hour for medication. I need to know the cost of my medication so I can budget a life. This $20.00 a gram $420.00 an ounce is ridiculous. $150.00 mid shelf and $200.00 per ounce for top is market. Go to other states on Weed Maps see for yourself. Plus I have found a community caregiver that will grow for your ailment is paramount there is no guarantee what you get form a dispensary is really even the strain being advertised. I can attest if you go to Phoenix as I do weekly I can get quality lab tested medication by the ounce not gram for $8.00 a gram 225 oz wth tax included vet discount for top. It is simple getting them in the door is one thing getting back is another. If you cannot be economically viable with your growing operation then those that are will be in the future. I don't not begrudge anyone for wanting and voting recreational and taxing it of a life style built around it.
What is happening is big BIG tobacco and alcohol are behind this recreational movement with these price's set as normal they will blitz the dispensary or local grower but then at least it will be really lab tested and stain quantified. The proposition 106 that made it to the constitution of the state gave certain right's to the medical patient every dispensary is in direct competition with that proposition and support the 25 mile rule. while they are still under that proposition 106 to be in business. Dispensaries want an umbrella for the state to guarantee the product market. Medication should not be or have intrastate regulation put on it. As for my support for dispensaries they have not helped me in understanding ailments strains they are useless for medical in my humble opinion
Here's what you need to know about growing your own medicine: Anyone with $500 minimum to spend on a good LED light can supply all their own for as little as 1/20th the cost per gram compared to medical card prices. After the payback period of your initial investment in growing equipment, (which is anywhere from 6 months to a year on average) you are only paying extra for electricity. Currently, an efficient LED light using 120 - 180 actual watts used can produce up to an ounce per square foot in a 6 sq ft footprint. You will make mistakes and have problems, but you will also learn the most on your first grow.
Good to know, thank you for that!
